We are still lacking a back up monster defender that has got me worried. If Astbury goes down I don’t think we have adequate cover. Garthwaite is too young and small to get thrown into the deep end.

Hopefully we rookie a hugh beasly type.

I think Naish is more likely to slip now that we have coverage for most possibilities. Other clubs will know that and be less inclined to annoy us with an early pick.

Of course, the other view is that if we traded 15 to provide this coverage, then we must be serious about getting him, and thus willing to pay whatever is required.

Regardless, we still probably want to delist at least 2 more players. 3 out + 2 retired - 2 rookies promoted means we only have 3 picks so far....The 50s don't 'exist' yet.

You're delisted.

Problem solved.

This is incorrect unfortunately.

But what actually happens doesn’t make sense so they should change the rules.

If Naish gets bid at pick 16, we match with 17, pick 17 becomes the equivalent pick of the remaining points (like pick 60 or something). However, this doesn’t make sense because you can’t actually use this pick unless it falls before the active picks you have in the draft.
Ah thanks for clarifying! Not the smartest system unfortunately.

You mean I was on the Richmond list during a premiership year?

I'll take that!

For those concerned we've shot ourselves in the foot by dropping back lets have a look at the following.

First off safe to say nobody bids inside top 3 for Naish.

In the unlikely event of a bid for Naish coming between 4-8 it would mean 17 & 20 become the following:
4 & 48 (North Bid)
5 & 40 (Fremantle bid)
6 & 34 (Collingwood Bid)
7, 31 & 73 (Saints bid)
8, 28 & 72 (Saints bid)

In this scenario I reckon the club would pass and use 17, 20 & 25 on kids.

A bid for Naish between 9-12 means 17 20 & 25 become:
9, 25 & 26 (Dogs Bid)
10, 23 & 26 (Carlton Bid)
11, 22 & 26 (GWS bid)

Still gives us 3 picks inside the top 30

A pick between 12 & 16 are matched by 17 and see 20 & 25 remain untouched, we likely get a late pick back depending on left over points.

In reality it looks like the club have looked over the likely scenarios and have done a deal that makes it easier to match for Naish and still add another couple of top 30 quality kids to the list.

Looking at our current list, we have 11 players aged 22 or younger playing in the VFL finals with the ability now to add another 3 top 30 kids will give us a minimum 14 players under 22 heading into 2018, a strong place to be as reigning premiers.
Good post, but the other side of the coin is Naish slips past 25, and we effectively get 4 top 30 players (17, 20, 25 + Naish). Our trade with Brisbane suggests to me RFC may think Naish will slide.

I reckon he's close to ready made. Barely loses 1 on 1 in reserves. 195cm and 95kg. I reckon we should give him a run up forward if he we don't get injuries to our backs.

That mature ager that got delisted by Freo looks alright as back up.

I hope we pick up two of Brander, Balta and Hayes along with Naish.

I'm tipping that the way it will go down will be:

Pick 17: Noah Balta
Pick 20: Sam Hayes
Pick 21: Patrick Naish (West Coast bid)
Now this would be good:thumbsu:

Where the hell you get 195/95 from? On Richmond and footywire he is 192/84

Don't know where he got that from.
But during the season when people were talking about him it was stated that Garth had been a focus of the club on building him up. He lost movement, but was over 90kg, and had grown taller. So 95 might be a bit extra, but 195 sounds likely. The club obviously see him as AFL quality and are trying to fast track his physical ability. Get him somewhere near AFL weight, then focus on running and he might play a bit next year. He'll be somewhere in the zone in the next year or so for height and weight.

Pretty sure the notion our picks get upgraded due to extra points has already been proven false
Taken that into account which is why with really early bids you see that 17, 20 & 25 become 4 & 48. A bid after 12 and I'd be happy to take him as we'd still be able to get a couple of players we need/want at 20 & 25.

Gidday tigers, that measurement and weight was taken in feb 2016 and submitted by the bushies, no change until feb 2018, look at the team posters fellas and see where he is in weight and height, next to next to JR,AR,DG,DA No Diff that i can see, what height are they gents? You surely must have a rich team poster from the start of the year!!! look and you shall see, he is bigger now, cheers.

This has been a petty hate of mine for years

The club tries to keep supporters informed about everything they want to suit their needs regarding memberships etc but never update the weights or heights of players accordingly.

Its not that difficult as they probably get weighed and proded all year and would take 2 hours to measure and weigh 44 players and upload them

Can anyone explain to me why Castagna & Soldo have already been elevated instead of leaving 5 list spaces so 5 picks could be taken to the draft.
I assume I'm missing something, but couldn't they just have been elevated on draft night after late picks had been downgraded for points?

I’m positive they took my estimated heights and weights I posted in here about 5 years ago lol. The heights and weights were identical on the website not long after :D
