Match at 28 (if Ballenden goes first) or 29 to avoid a deficit. I am not going complain if Naish goes at 26 or 27.

Actually, checked again and we only have 2 picks in the 50's, not 3. Gave one to the Lions. So if a Naish bid comes in between 26-34 (ish) then we'd go into deficit next year no matter what. Anyway, moot point, he won't slip that far.

Naish get any games next year? He's lean but so is Bolton and he got a few. Naish looks reasonably quick and kicks long. If he can get a good defensive side to his game I reckon he'll suit our game style beautifully. I'm excited

he will be played off half back id say so has alot of players ahead of him. Will need to work hard

Everyone has been saying Naish is better kicking into F50 than coming out of defensive 50 so perhaps a win/half forward might be his go

17. Patrick Naish 180cm 69kg outside midfielder - might be surprising to see us take him here, but I reckon a lot of our talk about being uncommitted is just that, talk. I reckon we were always going to take Naish with our first pick and we've played the game well and traded down 5 spots to get an extra pick inside the top 25

20. Noah Balta 194cm 92kg KPP - Bishop reckons we're keen on him and plenty of others seem to have him lined up to land with us. Given the question marks about his ideal position I reckon he slides to 20 and we'll snap him up with the idea of making him KPF

25. Oscar Clavarino 195cm 86kg KPD - Liked the sound of this kid since early in the year and have only really heard good things about him since the combine ended. Kid takes a nice grab is a decent size and has some toe about him.

51. Derek Smith - after losing Kayle Kirby last year I reckon we'll look to add Smith to the list. Kid has some nice traits and is a decent size, not much to lose by giving him a crack at this stage of the draft.

53. Best available kid to round out the list.

Why would we take Naish with 17 when we have a few picks immediately after? Or are you assuming a bid will happen before 17?

There’s a lot of highlights of Naish playing out of the backline. Pretty sure he even said it in an interview.
However, I do agree that he would be better suited to a wing.

See him playing like Bachar did in the GF. Half back using his kicking to generate our offence pushing forward and maybe hitting the scoreboard

I watched that game and to me it looked like he played mostly mid/wing but all players go up and down the ground and didnt think he was in a dedicated HB role - Perhaps he was but i though he was mainly mid.

He actually says in the HUN interview that about him playing hb so i may have missed that but wants to play mainly midfield, I personally cant see his defensive side to be strong enough but who knows but still think Markov & Short are better options there unless he develops his game to be more like Docherty or Laird

Def agree he needs to develop and he might end up being a mid. I’m just expressing my opinion that he has a lot of weapons and like for like he reminds me of Houli, great kick, good runner and can get between the arcs. Dimma will make him learn the defensive side of the game

Who are you delisting to free up those 2 list spots in the 50s?

Personally, I only think we will use 3 picks in the draft unless Naish slides and then we will take 3 players and use the next 2 picks for Naish

Hayes isn't your typical "lumbering giant". He's actually very agile for his size, just has poor endurance

Funny, that's exactly how my wife describes me, very agile for my size but poor endurance.

I would be thrilled to land Balta AND Clavarino, unfortunately I see it playing out differently with Balta. I think the Bulldogs will bid on Naish @ 16 knowing we'll match then they'll take Balta as they will have already gone a mid @ 9.

Hope you're right though...... Except I think he'll be groomed as a KPD - Rance will mentor him, very similar physical attributes.
