Do we actually HAVE to have Naish?
What's the point in paying overs just because his old man played for us?
If he was a Rioli, then that's different.
Bit like Silvagni and Daicos. Blues and Pies couldn't let them play for another club.

They paid 53 and 57 for those two player respectively, hardly over paying.

Kevin Sheehan is touting next years draft as a "super duper" one today on future stars.
Could be a really good chance this year to get an early 2018 pick. if all goes to plan we'll be a top 8 team over text 3 or 4 years and won't have the opportunity to get early picks. This year could be our window to nab a 10 year kpf in the 2018 draft.
Just need a team that's likely to be bottom 4 and needs picks for academy kids to trade with.

Thought this might interest people.

Ran across this video on fivethirtyeight on the NBA draft.

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features...not-picking-the-best-player-in-the-nba-draft/

Core take away for me is that the NBA drafts 20-22 year olds that have been in an effectively professional environment for 3-4 years. So they are basically known prospects. And you have about 30% chance of hitting the jackpot in the first 5 picks. Given we are picking kids from a much smaller pool in the AFL the chances are likely lesser of getting that star player.

But, the value of a draft pick drops of dramatically as you go down draft picks. So the top picks are worth a huge amount more. However, even then you don't know whether you are getting a hit. After the first-ish round the value of picks levels off. So people fighting over pick 42 vs 52 are likely fighting over not very much at all.

Just puts it in context. Only when you have the sweep of picks in a year (GC and GWS) can you expect to get a few major hits. otherwise, the higher the better. But expect more misses than hits.

So for the Tigers. We have decent picks this year that might get us good players. But more likely is that our first round draft picks will be serviceable AFL players. That's just the way it is.

"according to Ricky Nixon in Friday's Chicken Goes Bang." With chicken nixon saying that then i take it with a grain of salt

I personally wouldnt mind Casboult and think he is a better option than Reid at Richmond, Reid is too injury prone and not a genuine ruck relief at 195cm and 92kgs - Casboult would be better. But $500k a year x 4 is a little more than i would want to pay him more comfortable with $400kx3

But the little blokes in the Richmond foward line would love having this bloke sitting 20 mtrs out from goal bringing the ball to ground

You won't get him for 400x3, Gun. I'd like to get Fyfe for 750, but that ain't happening either.

I can live with $2m over 4. Give him half of it in year one. Plugs one big hole and leaves us with two R1 picks.

Carlton wont match $400 for Levi and he wont get a 3 year deal from them at 27 years

It doesn't matter if Carlton matches or not. He's unrestricted. Carlton will offer him something close enough to 400 for it not to be worth him leaving.

I reckon he would be a good pickup for you blokes and take the pressure off Riewoldt abit.

dont think carlton would offer him 400k, they have 3 kpf coming on that are young and would want to be getting games, have read he's on something like 260k a year

Carlton would 100% pay him 400k a year. Everyone's caps just went up 20%. 400k is two tenths of **** all post CBA

Loved naishs game, would ideally take me a dues spot or hours but I did not realise how much of an outside player he is makes Craig Bradley look like the greatest inside footballer of all time!

I meant houli and menadue

"Naish, snapshot from naish, it's coming around it's a goal!!
They're in front Robbo.
Naish has kicked two and they are in front"
Some of the finest commentary ive ever heard was in that whole 2nd half

Marvelous stuff

He can be our answer to Lachie Whitfield. Menadue and Naish on opposing wings... pacey.
