List Mgmt. 2017 draft thread

i'm liking the looks of Hayden McLean and Oscar Clavarino for first 2 picks. Need 2 beasts in this draft.
Cameron Rayner I've read over on the trade board fits the "beast" definition. Compared to Dusty. At 187 cm 89 kg, kids a genuine midfielder size already and apparently plays with aggression as well. Think the talk is around mid first round which we will have.

Ha ha, okay, I think you are correct on those that will get contracts again, IMO Castagna will join the main list unless something goes wrong out of kilter, the other rookies who knows although Chol will probably stick around as a rookie probably as Maric and Hampson probably have their player papers stamped to go along with Elton. Soldo also a rookie spot I suppose and depending on Griffs condition I would assume he would be kept at least as KPP/ruck back up minimum.

B Ellis and Lennon could easily stay depending on how they progress and Lambert might get another short term guernesy. The others I am not sure of particularly the rookies.

What might be more interesting is what happens with Martin end of year and the footy dept including the coach and even the head honchos could be in the gun again!
Thing is if we want to do 5 or 6 Nd picks and i think it a must and we wish to trade for needs and im sure you would agree it would be prudent of us to look at some mature f/a's then we need to cut and cut deep it does not appear at this stage that it will happen.

My money is on us cutting very few and having limited picks in the nd.

Can't cut your nose off despite your face though.

How many are on the chopping block end of year in terms of contracts finishing? Based on your list I think I have rationalised to 7 at the moment to arguably go??

I think we are talking about 8 to go, possibly, how many do you want??? Can't see us suing 5 or 6 national draft picks if we are also targeting FA and other options. Is the draft that deep or worth it?

McLean is likely to be undrafted, too slow and has the turning circle of the titanic. Must clubs aren't paying too much attention to him.

If forwards aren't taken in the top 25 they very rarely succeed/drafted.
That's why we are looking to trade in Schache.

we already have two first round picks and two third round picks. we could easily trade into others.we dont have rookie picks or not many.

You have seen the quality of those coming out of contract would like for us just once to cut hard and cull trade at least 10 to 12 of those duds.
Fair dinkum we need kpf and kpd cover we could do with another ruckman preferably one who can genuinely play as a fwdAnd our midfield depth is shizen, we can do this with f/a and cheap trades.
Outside of Lennon we dont have one medium sized fwd man there is so much we need to draft for.
It will very much have to be a combinataion of nd trade and f/a. we need to look at the long term thru the draft 5 6 nd picks is the go and we do need cover straight away in some pretty key areas so targeting adequate mature players is also a must.
If in charge id be looking at at least 10 new players coming into the club id be cutting what we have a surplus in or trading them and replacing them with targeted list needs and fmd there are many.

Not after we pay two first rounders for Schache

If that happens we have officially lost the plot (mind you we have lost the plot before at the trade table).

Who is calling the shots these days Balmey ? Im pretty sure that any trade involving our first pick needs to be ratified by the board.

The road to the draft podcast has Matt Clarke this week.

Mentioned Sam Hayes several times

i have read the same. i like the look of him as well. Could be a cross of Danger and Dusty - i'f we got schache and Reid in the FA/trade period, i'd love Rayner in the draft.

Balta, Cerra and Petruccelle are the ones I would love to get in the first round. Take Naish with our 3 rounders

Rayner will go top 5.

What are the chances we can trade our 2 3rd rounders up to 1 2nd rounder?
i dont think we will, I assume someone will bid on Naish in the second round from all reports, so we get an automatic lift into the 2nd round.

If we rate Naish in the second round, then we dont have to, because even if he falls to the third round, we would feel we get a steal in the third

Stengle or Morris ?

Hampson or Chol ?
Castagna or Hunt ?
Short or Broad ?
Elton or Soldo ?

Theres atleast the slight chance they may become a decent player , The spuds we have theres no chance

Would like to hear from Brisbane supporters or anybody who has watched Schache closely. Is he going to be a player or is he a player that made his name as a big strong player playing against undersized 18 yr olds. Under 18 form for big guys is not transferable to AFL unless they have a couple of aces. Speed and mobility. Daniher is just growing into his body now, but possesses these things. Paton and Boyd are examples of big TAC cup guys who monstered undersized TAC backs and were No.1's because of it. Has anyone studies Schache enough to know his strengths and weaknesses. I'd be loathe to throw the kitchen sink at a bloke that has not set the world on fire at Brisbane, unless he has the tools.

Where do the guys in the know think Hayden McLean will go in the draft and could he be the answer to our second KPF problem.. 196cm dandy stingrays. Good contested mark and a pack buster by accounts... Bishop thoughts.....
Think he might be available at our picks say 10-18
