List Mgmt. 2017 draft thread

20% Contested possessions in the Champs, one of the worst of those who will likely get drafted. His decision making/kicking in defensive 50 is poor and turnovers kill teams. Best up forward, using his smarts/decision making.

As I say time and time again - The 'media' pump it up as it's a good story & gets clicks to the website. "Oh look Tiger fans you've got a star coming your way"

Maybe not....

No way is a second round pick for Miles going to be agreed upon by Sydney. They aren't that dumb.

He's worth a third rounder + and even then in this draft - we wouldn't use that pick.
I only watched the first quarter from Wednesday and I don't think Naish hit a target for the whole quarter. :$

I think his decision making in the backline can be improved, he seems to panic down back a bit which hopefully can be worked on. If Richmond does pick him, they should give him some basic directions like "if you're tucked in the back pocket or under pressure, try and find someone down the line, if not, kick it as far as you can down the line". Those kinds of unsexy tactics generally aren't encouraged at underage level as clubs want to encourage expansive play to see if these kids can play.

I find Martin is also often a fairly poor decision maker down back compared to his elite decision making skills up forward, don't know how or why.

Thanks
More thinking of the pick in terms of points for Naish without going into deficit for next year... And another third would help with that

I have watched the under 18s for years, and can tell you there is obviously enormous improvement over their first preseason. Naish's skills are fine for his level, I would say generally they are above average for his level, but may not have shown that well yesterday. A lot of the errors players make at junior level are polished even in their first year via good coaching and learning how an AFL system works.

Especially don't watch the last passage of play where he torps it out from Full Back.

What are your thoughts on Naughton Bishop? I think he will be around our pick and has great scope to be a talented kpd. If we landed him and one of Coffield, Constable or Warpol id be quite content

Yeah he's not too far out of the range, i'd have him pegged as a 2nd rounder at the moment. God I get nervous with his kicking - more so than Garthwaite, but it mostly gets to where it needs to go.

Would be very happy with 3 of allan, constable, coffield and naish. Coleman jones has good height but kicking is suspect.
Would love if we could get Krueger late or in the rookie. Looks alright that kid.
Oscar allan too short to be key forward imo but would be great foil for Jack

Would love Allen, Coffield and Naish but I think Coffield will be gone before our first pick maybe even Allen too.

Our first pick will be mid teens (give or take). I think Allen will still be available and will be an excellent pick up especially if he grows a few cm's.

Trade Miles for Sydney's 2nd

Draft
Oscar Allen
trade other 1st for Matthew Kennedy
Naish
upgrade Castagna/Soldo
Crossley and Kreuger with 2 3rd round picks

If Griff stays - next years 3rd/4th for Close from Brisbane
If Griff retires - FA Casboult/Reid + Close

What's Tim Kelly's prospects?
183cm 82kg clearance midfielder with plenty of skill and speed. Averaging 28 possessions 5 marks 3 tackles and 1 goal per game in the WAFL.
Had 35 possessions and 7 goals in round 11. Will be 23yo and looks a league above any of the midfield prospects outside the top 5. Could step right into AFL footy.

What makes people think that the swans would be interested in Miles just curious that's all.

Rumours? Not sure whether it could be for a 2nd rounder.
Supposedly some interest from GC. I read that somewhere. (Maybe BF?)
Maybe a trade for Saad who is eying off a return to Victoria. Could only hope

Just going on a rumour that's floating about
I doubt with the quality mids and young ones coming up they would be into Miles who can't break in into our side.
Than again stranger things have happened as they gave us Nank god bless them.

I thought when Mitchell left the Swans they were happy with the pick, salary relief but also with the likes of JPK, Parker, Jack, Hannebery they were a little one paced. If that were the case, (big if) would Miles really suit them that much? It would seem to make them a little one dimensional. Depends on the price I guess.

Richmond need another gun midfielder. My concern is the side isn't playing Miles because they think they've got it set there but I'm not convinced and Richmond is in the red for net CP this year. Guys like Vlastuin, Conca, C Ellis and Lennon aren't it. Time to draft a guy who is actually known for playing in the guts or can actually go that.

If they're not playing Miles because he's not good enough then that suggests we need another gun midfielder. Prestia and Caddy have been disappointing but even if they were firing I'd still want to keep that depth up. Such a pick would also offset the Naish pick as Naish is fairly outside on a team with a number of pacy outside players.

Agreed. Can't have enough good midfielders imo. If you do have too many then you throw them into the forwardline ala Toby Greene
