i know you don't watch state league footy much (if at all) but who would be the guys that might make it to the rookie list?? I'm looking for young (9-22) and athletic types like Broad and Lambert not rejects from other clubs like Gordons and Matt Thomas'

The way i see it Maric, Morris and Elton are all gone. Hunt probably goes too and maybe Batchelor and Chol. Miles, Lloyd and Lennon will be shopped/ask to leave for opportunities. Castagna will be the other to go if rumours are true we are only offering a year and Carlton a few.

5-7 players gone, Stengle, Moore and Castagna (if he stays) upgraded plus our first two picks, Naish and Smith leaves probably 2-3 late picks/rookies, which i think we are best suited for those state league players previously mentioned.

Chol is worth keeping, if for no other reason than we have already invested a couple of years in him, and he has shown signs at forward, back and in the ruck at VFL level. If we are able to rookie him, we should, we aren't blessed for talls.
 
Bishop what are your thoughts on Nathan Murphy and Ed Richards? I like these guys. Both have pace, skills and grit. Be over the moon if we kept both firsts and took them

Agree. I'd take them in a heart beat. They're also on the list I'd want at Richmond's picks. Think Murphy might be gone by Richmond's first - but Richards should be there.

Where do you see these guys settling in at senior level?
 
Naish and Derrick Smith are both certainties to be taken by Richmond. i'm curious to see what we do with our other first rounder.

I want someone with elite speed & I'm a fan of those lads who are left footers. Houli can't play forever, C.Ellis isn't elite speed - neither is Conca who might even leave at the end of the year. Castagna is a forward, Markov I still think plays his best footy in the attacking half.

Short has speed, but was drafted as a forward. I want a pure rebounder who can kick the ball and break lines.

Short may have been drafted as a forward but I do not see him as a forward. If anything moves a bit like Raines. C Ellis I was not considering rather Brandon Markov does not play his best footy in the attacking half and even if he does is that not a rebounder? Castagna still has the jury out as a forward long term I think, kicks handy snaps but really is playing on defensive pressure atm. Are you arguing for us to keep Conca?
 
What am i missing with Naish ?
Whilst i would like him at Richmond and its a good story with father sons playing at the clubs their fathers played at i wouldnt be wanting to give up either of our 2 1st rounders just to get a FS into the club - He needs to be the best available at that pick imo

Naish to me is extremely outside with very very little inside influence and for the role he plays isn't very fast or fast enough and his disposal is not elite so i really cant see him in the top #20
He would be competing with Menadue & Markov for the same role .

#20-#30 range for me if his Name was not Naish
 
Bulldogs are super keen to pick Hayes but i hope he slips through to us

I think Twomey acts as a puppet for somebody else agenda and frankly he has been asked to pump up Naish's tyres to sucker RFC into another overpaid leap into the unknown that really otherwise is unjustified. I think its a sucker punch propaganda play by Twomey acting for other parties interests honestly. You did not get those connected to pump up SOS's son juniors tyres did there and Essendon had to give CFC some check when others would not.

Freo keen on him with their first.

I like the look of him but he also has a bit of a TV vibe I can't shake.
 
We called teams out with their picks and teams will call us out. Its part of the offseason game.
If we rate naish a 1st rounder after hes been called then we pay up. If we dont rate him we let him go.
I havent seen much of him but someone who is light of frame and has bad decision making isnt a first round pick for a premiership team.
The romance of having naishs son at tigerland is great but if hes not rated a 1st round then move on.
Bad history of small flanker/outside types...

I heard wallace on sen the other day and they were picking between rance and Scott selwood. Wallace said after the tambling debacle when in doubt pick the bigger guy.

Im not sold on naish from the little i have seen of him i ask a few questions to people who really know .Does he tackle with intent?Has he got grit? is he purely outside?
