Why will RFC not keep other clubs honest and let them have Naish if they overpay?
Richmond are already invested in him. Again from what I've seen of him I'm not really sold on him as a first rounder either. But literally everyone in the industry has him rated top 20 and say a club takes him at 12 it's only going to cost us our next pick to move up anyway. i'm not sold on him but it just wouldn't surprise me to see another club bid on him to keep us honest.

On a side note Mick Warner from on the couch said that Richmond will be taking Naish. So i'm just reading between his ranking and where we're sitting. If he gets through our first 2 picks we're f***ing laughing.

Heard noise that if Naish is claimed as a first rounder, then we will not stand in the way. We see him as a second round.

You've been hearing my posts again Kiwi :p

If someone could explain to me the bidding process in 50 words or less or point me to a link that does it would be greatly appreciated.

Have no idea how it works.

Only 3 clubs are meeting with Naish this week (Freo, BL, WB).

Suggests to me that most clubs expect the Tigers to match, wherever that bid comes in (likely after Pick 15). WB & BL have also had home visits with him, Lions bid at 18?

Nah mate you're wrong Twomey and Wallace say top 10. ;)

Seriously wonder if Lions are just putting us in a position not to bid on Ballenden

We called teams out with their picks and teams will call us out. Its part of the offseason game.
If we rate naish a 1st rounder after hes been called then we pay up. If we dont rate him we let him go.
I havent seen much of him but someone who is light of frame and has bad decision making isnt a first round pick for a premiership team.
The romance of having naishs son at tigerland is great but if hes not rated a 1st round then move on.
Bad history of small flanker/outside types...

I heard wallace on sen the other day and they were picking between rance and Scott selwood. Wallace said after the tambling debacle when in doubt pick the bigger guy.

I Agree
I wasn't all that for his old man, so no romance here... if Matty Knights had a son...

we're on the AFL combine recap today lol

Twomey had Naish top 10, then out to top 12 now out top 15. By the time the draft happens he'll have him where everyone else does in that 18-25 spot and stop trying to create media hype so we have to pick him early.

Totally agree with this Kiwi

We shouldnt be taking a player we dont need desperately at a higher pick just because he is a father son, We need to take players at where we rate them or in FA close to where we rate them. for me he is anywhere from #20-#30 but closer to mid 20's

We have needs for KPP and have enough outside runners,Markov & Menadue are developing nicely Menadue i rate higher than Naish and we selected him in the 30's cant see how Naish would be a 1st rounder.

Twomey/Bukenara are the only 2 that are talking him up, Wallet has him at around #17 lol having a bit each way is the list manager

I dont think the Lions would use #12 on Naish, They would have him pegged at #18/#19
Im hoping they trade 1 of these picks so they have just 1 left , I would then bid on Ballenden with #17 to force them to use the remaining pick so Naish is bid on later if brisbane have an interest

The Bulldogs would be my worry if they get #11 for Stringer

Don't believe Naish is the one in Brissy's sights at Pick 12 - they'd take Andy Brayshaw without even thinking if he was there at Pick 12 -- but gut feel says he's gone for them anyway.

Yeah definitely a chance - both may even be there.
Would there be a cut off point for Naish? as in which bid would we be unwilling to match?

Pick 1 3000

Pick 10 1395

Pick 15 1308 (applying 15% discount)

If he goes top 10 I’d say he is as good as gone. No point ruining our entire draft for a player that should be going in the 2nd round.

Its interesting, the younger Brayshaw looks a little better, Joel was better than the twins with Scott not too shabby, Travis was the best of the Clokes maybe the younger Naish's can be better. Heres hoping anyway
Gus Brayshaw is a gun but kid cant get on the park, He is the best pure footballer with better skills

Its interesting.

Freo have pick 5 which if they use it on Naish they are welcome to him I would have thought, next pick 40 unless they most likely have another pick in mind.

Bulldogs have pick 9 which again they would be welcome to Naish if thats the pick they choose to use on Naish. Next is 26 which would be getting to the area one would think unless they are looking at a pick like 17 from Essendon via Richmond for Stringer.

Brisbane are looking at picks 1 and 12 firstly which one would think RFC would not challenge on, Then Brisbanes next pick is 18 which starts to get interesting.

This is from an article by Ben Guthrie which I find amazing. "Richmond has selections No.15 and No.17 in the first round of this year's draft and it is highly likely the Tigers will have to select him with one of those picks even if another club does not lodge a bid for Naish."

The bold is particularly amazing. Even if another club does not lodge RFC while use 15 or 17 on Naish as if the people at RFC are condemned to win a Darwin Award!!!!
