Lol this commentNaish will likely be bid on before 17 anyways. If he's not I'd still take him there and give ourselves the freedom to take who we want later on.

I think they do, Kennedy will have a few year left so could be a decent 2nd/3rd tall replacementDo West Coast need Allen? I know he's a local but they've drafted interstate kids before and their first round pick in the past three drafts has been from interstage (Venables, Partington and Duggan). I'd be drafting an inside midfielder with some pace if I were them.
Kennedy is 30 and could easily play another 5 years and retire around 35 a la Riewoldt and Pavlich. Allen may be able to play midfield but it's a big if. Gut tells me they go midfielder or maybe a flanker either back or forward. I understand Kennedy will need a replacement but they also need a replacement for Priddis and Mitchell. At the moment they've got Sheed, Shuey, Redden, Yeo who often plugs other holes in their team, Gaff who is outside and then guys like Duggan, Venables and Partington. It's a midfield held together with sticky tape and they surely know it.I think they do, Kennedy will have a few year left so could be a decent 2nd/3rd tall replacement
there are also some followers that believe that Allen also has the potential to be that bigger midfielder in time as well as playing foward
Not sure Kennedy at 35 , I would think 33 things start going a bit off after that not to mention the players them self's getting soft tissue injuriesKennedy is 30 and could easily play another 5 years and retire around 35 a la Riewoldt and Pavlich. My mindset is West Coast should aim to win a premiership with Kennedy and Darling and not wait. They can build a side capable of winning it within 2-3 years, they just need to draft and trade well around the pieces they've got. To me drafting a guy to replace Kennedy is in a way admitting that you wont win in the next few years and building for a run in 5-10 years time. They need to be drafting to improve now.Not sure Kennedy at 35 , I would think 33 things start going a bit off after that not to mention the players them self's getting soft tissue injuries
Jack Darling is also on the nose with his performances under pressure as well, Think you go best available at #13 and if Allen is best available then you take him
I think West Coast themself's as well as the rest of the AFL world would agree that they are no chance of winning a flag in the next 3 years, They are just starting a rebuild effectively with half their midfield retired and 30% of their current list 28+My mindset is West Coast should aim to win a premiership with Kennedy and Darling and not wait. That's the beauty of Richmond position this year. In a premiership winning year we have delisted / retired players that have had no influence to our year in Yarran,Maric,Hunt,Morris,Elton and possibly 1 of Lennon/BatchelorEveryone talking Balta.
But Clavarino looks the blue-chip key position?

Why? I rate Naish as a 15-20 prospectbased on what I've read from those that watch the kids. So that is why I'd take him at pick 17. It would be great to have him slide to pick 25 or later like some are hoping happens but that is unrealistic.Lol this comment![]()
West Coast still need midfielders so its jot lke they're wasting picks any good midfieler will help them improve. Afl draft central did an October draft and Bonar was available at their pick. Someone will fall for them it always happens.

With Cloke retiring.Surely they will take Elton@16 now.Talk is the Doggies are interested, so expect a bid from them at 16. Even if they don't another club with a late teens pick will surely bid knowing we have traded picks specifically to match it.
I think he is saying there will be a bid so accept we will have to use 17. Otherwise there is a disconnect with logic. Why would we take him with pick 17 if he hasn’t been bid on at that stage though? I’d personally rather just wait it out and potentially get him for less.

I think what people are saying is that rather than using 17 just for the sake of it, use 17 to acquire the best for us at that pick and if Naish is bid on between 17-20 then we can use 20 to match, same if bid is between 21-24, we use 25 to match. After 25 we use the 50's picks to match. Of course if he's bid on before 17 then we have to use 17 to match. It's pointless to bid on him ourselves because we push our pick up the order when there is no need, potentially costing us another to 30 pick in the process, ie; 4 top 30 picks as opposed to 3 top 30 = no brainerWhy? unfortunately (un4tune8ly haha) no, I think the remaining points convert to a late pick, around 60 that we probably cant use cos of the live pick situationSo if we use pick 17 on him after a early bid does the extra remaining points move up our pick 20 ?.

Like I said if we rank him there then why not take him. I understand the desire to take him later in the draft.

I understand the desire to take him later in the draft and like everyone else I'm hoping it happens that way, but I have a feeling that what will end up happening is that we'll take Naish at 17 and give ourselves the opportunity to target a couple of KPP types with 20 & 25. That way we get to fill list needs and also take the father son that many expect us to take.
