I don't have an opinion either way on pick 17.

But OH MY GOD, whilst reading the last few pages, I haven't laughed so much or had the eyes watering for at least a couple of weeks.

Is the main point you trying to make is that we should draft 2 KPP plus Naish rather than 2 best availables plus Naish?
You want 2 talls even if it is a reach?
Are you worried about our newest Elton/Hughes/Pattison getting eternally heckled because we drafted him at 17 rather than the second round where every expert rated him?
Actually that would be very Richmond supporter-like to bag the guy forever because we drafted him at 17 and he hasn't lived up to expectations.
There will definitely be a temptation for absolutely best available at 17 rather than best tall then best tall at 20 and/or 25 with there being a gamble as to whether that becomes 1 or 2 talls.

Pretty much spot on. I know waiting until a bid for Naish is the logical thing to do and no doubt that is what will happen and everyone here will be happy. However if we end up going down the path of taking the best available kids at 17 20 & 25 because nobody bid on Naish and we didn't take a couple of KPPs in doing so I know the same posters teeing off at me now will be the same ones teeing off at the club for not taking any KPPs. If we do take them and reach for them in doing so and it goes pear shaped again the same posters will be ripping into the club about how they stuffed up the draft by not taking best available and reaching.

So my thoughts were to take Naish and remove him from the equation early and then have picks 20 & 25 to then take the best available KPPs at those picks without any real concerns. Players like Balta Clavarino Coleman-Jones Hayes & Krueger could all be available in that 20-30 range of the draft and and with 2 picks in the first 6 odds are we'd nab 2 of them without reaching for them earlier at 17.

But seeing as everyone else seems happy to reach for them at 17 & 20 even though every other time we've reached for a player they have lost their minds about it, lets just go with it and enjoy the ride.

Whatever happened to just picking what ever player fitted in with you wanted at that pick. Stupid points and discount system, feels like one of those scratch and win cards where you scratch and reveal a number then redeem your prize. Stupid.

You still haven’t answered the question as to why we if we were to rate Balta at 20, take Naish at 17 and just hope no one takes Balta at 18 or 19?

Can anyone in the know tell me how the whole bidding on Naish thing works? Is it possible that we can get him for picks 53 and 55, and keep picks 17, 20 and 25?

What the hell mate, worse case scenario is we use 17, 20, 21 (we match a bid for naish making our 25 to 21, 21 is 878 points (less 20% only requires 681), therefore we have 25 is worth 756, SO we still have points left over.)

Yes I did. I said if we rate Balta at 20 then we take him at 17, if we have 2 KPPs rated in the 17-23 range then take both of them.

Unless he is bid on we dont have to take naish until he gets a bid, If we end up with using the 2 x 3rd rounders to get Naish we also have other picks after that to select another player to fill list spots or can Upgrade another rookie

He will take two years to get his body AFL ready anyway to develop from his light frame before he can play in our premiership team. By then Tigers will have enough money, offloading players to get him in salary boost, in the meantime Naish is outsourced to another club as he gets more AFL experience, its a cunning plan that has been in the making for a while apparently and the high draft year hype has been an orchestrated beat-up to set the ruse in motion. Naish obviously happy to play dead at the other club before gets back to his beloved Tigers with a premiership chance to boot!!!

Very clever Tigers and imaginative with originality!!! No one will believe it thus its effectiveness to succeed!!

I get RT's point about being reluctant to reach for a tall with pick 17.
Regardless of the current circumstances, people will have short memories about that.

"Who the **** is Reece Conca ? He wasn't in any Phantom top 10s ? Why didn't we pick Heppel instead of this clown?"

We are pretty bad at comparing our first selection each year with any player who gets selected afterwards ( and often some are even ranting about why we didn't take a player who was selected before our first pick )

I'm not sure how many more times people need to explain to you that there is NO scenario where if Naish is not bid on before 17 it would make any sense to pick him at 17. None, Zero, Nada. Even proposing it is incredibly stupid.

The only pick we potentially pick Naish with if not requited is 25. Only way we do this is if we want to avoid going into a deficit for the 2nd round in next years draft. Club may still pass on Naish though hoping he lasts another 4 picks. I think the pros far out way the cons for this scenario.

It would be like dropping from #35 to #40 in the 2nd round of next year if we actually do have to carry the deficit in the 2nd round

If he is bid on after #28 there would be no deficit to carry foward

Also with 3 picks in top 25 around the same draft range not all 3 need to be best available.
We could use one of those picks to draft for needs even if it means picking up player rated 35 for 25 for example.
