List Mgmt. 2017 draft thread

Also I'm not a draft expert but from reading phantoms we could use all 3 picks on Talls this draft anyway and it would more than likely be best available. Seems like quite a few Talls are rated at all 3 of our picks.

we currently have 5 spots to fill
#17,#20,#25 (#53 + #55 are used on Naish) leaves #74 for a spot to fill
Someone before mentioned we may have 7. 5 it is I guess as most others are saying the same.

We don't get a 20% outside the first round which ends at 17.

What if the best available at all picks means no KPPs get added then what?
Firstly we get a discount after the first round which is 197 points.
Can you try to explain what your actually saying because it’s not logical if we take naish at 17 we risk the talls getting picked at 18 and 19

the other 2 spots were used to upgrade Castagna & Soldo as their Rookie list spots expired and we would either need to delist them or upgrade them onto the main list

Someone needs to post the video of the reporter asking billy about becoming a polly. To some of RTs shit i would but im far to lazy

So with Batch and Lennon delisted does that mean we now have 5 live picks?

17, 20, 25, 53, 55?

Can anyone in the know tell me how the whole bidding on Naish thing works? Is it possible that we can get him for picks 53 and 55, and keep picks 17, 20 and 25?

Cheers
Its possible, but unlikely. Hes rated a first round talent, he will be bid on somewhere between 15-25. If we are lucky, we can use 17 and 20 on talls and get Naish on points. Thats our most realistic best case scenario.

I like the way everyone started out gently explaining to _RT_ why it makes no sense to draft Naish before he is bid on, the way you remind a senile elder that it's not 1963... but then after a couple of pages everyone was going 'stop posting you drunk campaigner, go have another bong hit you old turd'.

I'm pretty sure RT stopped posting genuine responses in 2013 when he said Morris, Elton and Hampson were team changes for Jack, Deledio and Cotchin.

As I posted earlier there are players like Hayes Balta Clavarino Coleman-Jones Krueger that should be available so we'd still have a good chance of landing KPPs. But it doesn't matter, my suggestion is never going to happen, I knew that when I posted it, but I put it forward as what I would do to ensure that we had the chance to both land Naish and get 2 KPPs that I want to see us get.

The way everyone has reacted you'd think that I have some sort of pull in what the club does and that what I suggested here is actually what the club is going to do.

campaigner I doubt you've made a sound decision in your life.

reckon we're expecting a bis on Naish before 25 which would cancel 74 as it's not 'live'

Even though we have 5 primary list spots free, we only *have* to use 3 if we want - the final list size can be anywhere from 38-40. Even if Naish slips past 25 it's very unlikely we'd use 74 imho, more likely to keep the spot free for a delisted free agent.

Naish only gets a 20% discount if he is bid on before 17, after that it is fixed at 197 points.

Hopefully the following explains my point of view better.

As I've explained I rate Naish around 15-20, if when 17 rolls around the players available on our list are all midfielder/flanker types, including Naish, rather than draft one of them I would take Naish and look at adding 2 KPPs with 20 & 25 which addresses our list needs more than adding another couple of midfielder/flanker types will.

On our list now we have Bolton Stengle Graham Rioli C.Ellis Menadue Castagna Butler Markov Short & Lennon who are all 22 or younger and are midfielder/flanker types. At the same time Garthwaite Chol(r) and Soldo are our young KPP stocks. We desperately need some quality KPP talent to be added to the list to develop as the next wave coming through.

The only player I would take ahead of Naish at 17 would be a KPP that we rated above Naish that slid through to 17. For example if Brander who many rated as a contender for pick 1 early on was to be there then we take him. If Sam Hayes who is rated a top 10 prospect was to be available we take him.

Just to further confuse/irritate people if either of those players were available at 17 I'd take them and then give serious consideration to letting Naish go altogether if it meant we could get 3 top 25 rated KPPs in the draft.
Reading this is like listening to nails on a black board.. painfull!

Everyone most likely agrees with you about taking 2 kpp and Naish. BUT surely you take the best available kpp at 17, then at 20 we take the next available kpp AND THEN we take Naish.

I cant believe the stupidity of selecting Naish BEFORE a bid comes for him. Why the hell would we throw away the only decent father son advantage we have had in decades?

It is an interesting situation given Richmond are not bidding on Naish.

Clubs might just give up on the reality of the situation and let RFC take him using the third rounders so the otherwise circus does not interefere with their club if they took Naish for the next two years when the know AFL HQ will not let RFC win in 2018 anyway

Balta has played a bit of ruck this year. Only 194cm but big leap on him. Could be that CHF that gives Nank a chop out. Said it before but I'm praying for Balta at one of our picks

Could balta go back to learn off rance and astbury go forward. See who is better forward.

Now that we have 5 spots on the list I think we either take 5 kids if Naish is bid on before 25 or take 4 if Naish is bid on after, and then take an extra rookie (or perhaps McKenzie as a DFA)

Don't want to lock in some pick 70 odd kid for 2 years. Better off having an extra rookie that we only have to keep for one if they bust
