RT, please don't become Australian treasurer, but you would be fantastic for
Sudam husains minister of propaganda, you know the guy who in a live press release was still denying that Baghdad was been bombed, despite the world press saying to him, turn around and look, there are bombs going off just behind us.

will be interesting to see how things pan out with naish on draft night - will sides around or in between our first lot of picks, such as the dogs with their 16th, place a bid simply to keep us honest, knowing that we'd most likely match in this instance, therefore meaning that we'll pay a "fair" price in their eyes? would a be risk of sorts, but a calculated one given it's pretty common knowledge that we've already invested in him and want to recruit him.

or will clubs play it safe and just select the guys they rate higher (if they do), therefore seeing him slide past our pick 25? would be a ripping result, but my gut feel is it won't happen.

maybe north have a crack at 23 - they could use some outside class, but then again, they could use a lot of things... :p

re. guys we might draft other than naish, really hoping balta falls to us. seems to be a guy who needs some developing, but has some great traits with his athleticism and attack on the ball/player.

i'm not such a hayes fan. could be a very astute pick if he improves his running, but that's no guarantee.

reminds me a bit of a certain restaurateur who used to play for us...

Personally I don’t think clubs will risk bidding on Naish unless they are accaully interested in having him

Like what we did a few years ago with Hipwood and that other player who escapes my mind right now before we got Rioli

Witch I do think is fair enough if the genuine interest is there
I can’t see clubs just bidding for the sake of it and risk the reverse happing to them at some point or jepodising relationships that could effect possible trades or deals down the track

Imo a bid will come from him early 2nd round we will match and use our pick 25 having already used 17 on the best available tall

yeah you're probably right mate, let's hope common sense prevails. early 2nd round wouldn't be a bad result at all, gives us naish and hopefully 2 promising young talls.

mind you, don't rule out casino sos rolling the dice at pick 10 already :drunk::p

Pretty much my thoughts. The concept of bidding on players "just to keep clubs honest" or for clubs to get involved with "revenge bidding" just sounds like really bad list management to me if the club doesn't genuinely want that player or if there are better players around with that pick.

Taking a player at 17 when you rank them at 22 is NOT A REACH!!
A reach is when you take a player ranked as a 3rd or 4th rounder with a 1st or 2nd round pick
With 3 picks in the Top 25 we should be taking the best available with our first pick and then can use 20 & 25 either for needs or matching the Naish bid
What you are proposing is beyond insane and I can't decide if you sticking to your guns despite having this pointed out so many times is you winding everyone up, or if you are actually this stupid
Yes I'm sticking to my opinion even though I know that it's wrong. If you can't stand by your opinion when it's questioned then what's the point of having one.

As I've said you'd think that what I proposed was what is actually going to happen given the reaction that I've copped. Now I've got no issue with copping backlash for voicing an opinion but not when it is done in a disrespectful way.

Bid on Hipwood with our first pick and Bailey Rice with our second pick (Markov).

Mate you are losing me fast. The belief I have an opinion and I'm standing by it no matter what, is so very wrong and the root of so many issues around the world. Takes a far bigger person to admit a mistake and re-form an opinion.

I always thought that was the point of discussion. The sharing of different Ideas and interpretations, with the view of (potentially) forming a stronger more qualified view. Even if that is different from your original position. it's not so much a view of right or wrong, just more informed.

Otherwise the " have an opinion and I'm standing by it no matter what" view is what???... just seeking likes?

Back on topic. Great job RT keeping us amused while we wait for the draft.

I was taught that you stick to your guns and explain why you believe in it. When it's proven wrong you concede defeat and move on, which I've tried to do. Hence me saying I don't expect to see complaints if we don't end up with a couple of KPPs from our 3 picks inside 25 given the number of responses were to just take best available until Naish is bid on.

My desired return from draft night is Naish and 2 quailty KPPs inside 25. I don't care how we get it done as long as its done. To me that will help set us up for sustained success.

as has been explained numerous times, we have MORE chance of getting 2 KPPs if we DONT take naish at 17

Nothing new for me to say. But Am always pissed that we have to wait so long for the draft to happen. Naish is the key to our draft this year. I actually expect the Dogs to not bid at 16. There are higher value players there. If so he might slip a bit on a needs basis.

Then we get to pick up at least one decent KP and whoever we reckon is better and naish.

If he really slips and ewe get him for peanuts then YAHOOOO!!!! But I don't expect that.

Hows fighting the man going after all these years?

Any wins?

I agree with you on the 2 KPPs. However by Not taking Naish until he is bid upon, leaves us the opportunity to walk away with:
1) worst best case the best 2 KPP's available (at 17 and 20) and Naish; OR
2) best best case ..... being the best 2 KPP's available (at 17 and 20), PLUS either the best available at 25 (KPP or not) and Naish;

Vs Worst worst case Naish (at 17) and the best 2 KPPs available (at 20 and 25);

Surely the opportunity for the best two KPPs at 17 and 20 beats the best to KPPs at 20 and 25?

Of course this is all Moot if Naish is bid on prior to pick 17.

I know and Ive conceded my opinion was incorrect.

Your opinion isn’t logical though. Again what advantages does what you propose have?

Why 2 KPs??

We need one at least.

But best available. We have a few KPs already on the books, and more quality everywhere will help. If we reckon KPs are the way to go, and 2018 won't give us much then I'm happy with KPs + Naish. But more quality mids can't hurt.
