Would be stoked to pick up Balta if he slips

Loads of upside.
sounding like we are uber keen. Balta at 17
Hayes/Allen at 20
Naish at 25

I'd be stoked with that. Would set us up for quite a while and add 3 highly talented youngsters to an already exciting list. I love our hand of picks in this draft. Smart moves having 17,20,25

Nice
If it pans out that way...we would have been kissed on the dick....

Interesting reading through the Inside Football draft profiles.
Some names that have garnered some interest on here are rated nowhere near where people on here seem to rate them. Not having a crack at you either Bishop as I know you watch plenty of the kids during the year.

Callum Coleman-Jones - late pick rookie
Nathan Kreuger - late pick rookie
Liam Ryan - Top 25

Hayes will get away with lack of a tank at under age level, because of his size, can out mark most opponents. He won't get that luxury at AFL level, big no based on poor endurance levels for me. Can't play the modern day game as a kpf or ruckman without it.
Can endurance be improved much over several pre-seasons? Is there a history of players who had poor endurance who improved that aspect of their game after a few seasons in the AFL system?

Im not sure. I'd guess that if he has no tank now he probably never will. Sure he might improve in an elite AFL system, but to what level?

Put it like this, you don't wake up one day unable to run 1km and be a marathon runner the next day. You train and train and eventually you become a marathon runner. Hayes might be a poor runner at the moment, but in a professional environment like an AFL club I'd back him to become a very good runner if he wants to put in the work required. In the Inside Football draft special Darren Bewick his Eastern Rangers coach says the kid could be one of the best ever or could be out of the system in 5 years, what will decide that is whether he gets his head around understanding the requirements to put it all together.

Fair enough, however unless he's been coasting at u18 level, by now recruiters would have a pretty good handle on his ability to cover the ground. There's bound to be some improvement under AFL conditions but then again that's the same for every u18 kid entering the system.

Im ok with Hayes at #25 but if Balta/Brander/Allen are still on the Board and we take Hayes - He better be a good player
have heard matty clarke is a massive fan of hayes

Draft best available at 25 rather than a ruckman, just because he is tall does not equate to being very good.

If he has no endurance in under 18's how is he going to be in VFL or AFL, why wait for 4+ years for the player to come good.

Better to draft a fringe player like Maric/Nankervis, how is Hayes going to replace Griffiths/Hampson in 12 months time?

Hayes can improve his endurance through training, it's not like his kicking style like James Manson. You get the kid into the system and set a training program for him to follow. In 12 months time if he does he could start out as a KPF who pinch hits in the ruck to give Nank a chop out. In 4 years time when Nank is 27 we could then swap roles and have Hayes as a 22-23 year old ruck with 4 years development behind him and have Nank move to a KPF role.

The beauty of our draft position this year is we have the 3 top 25 picks which means we can afford to take kids like Hayes Balta and Naish who need time to develop. I would go as far as to say that this year is perfect for us, we can address list needs with 3 top 25 picks and improve our chances of having sustained success rather than fleeting glory.

Must say Hayes looks good here. Sublime tap work, decent grab and kick. The endurance is a worry but he can play

lumbering giant, great tap work, but have not seen him run more than 2 meters
