2017 Draft- Your Mock Top 10

We have both Darcy and Strnadica who both play the primary ruck role.

Apeness as a 200cm Ruck/fwd.

+ Tabs/APearce who are both 198/200cm and have both played AFL games as the backup ruck.

+ Sandi for one more year.

How many do we need? Especially when every year you can pick up journeymen rucks for a pittance.
Apeness, the guy who's played 7 games in 4 years and is always injured? The guy is verging on a bust, don't even know why you'd mention him.

Doesn't Fogarty pretty much live near the Vic-SA border? It's not really like Adelaide would be any closer to home for him if that's the case.

Can't remember the name of the town but it's 3.5 hours from Adelaide

Plays for Glenelg. Grew up in Lucindale.
Yeah from lucindale, Has moved up to glenelg for footy a while ago from memory, think he went to one of the private schools... Westminster or rostrevor?

Given that he's already had experience moving away for footy, I think he's gotta be on the low end of the flight risk scale. But nice try crows fans

1. Brisbane - LDU. All the top mids have some question on them, but I think LDU is overall the best player in the draft, and best fit for Lions.
2. Fremantle - Dow. I'd have Dow as the next best, who would add class & pace to the Freo midfield.
3. Carlton - Rayner. Carlton need mids, and Rayner will probably need time to build his tank, but couldn't go past him as the best available here.
4. North Melbourne - Stephenson. Genuine decision between Cerra, Brayshaw & Stephenson but think the latter gets the nod to bring some outside run & class to the Roos.
5. Fremantle - Darcy Fogarty. Having grabbed a pure mid at pick 2, I think Freo can look for a bit of creativity, and this kid will deliver that for them.
6. Collingwood - Coffield. Pies should go a tall, but don't like Brander & suspect they think 6 is too early for Naughton, so will prefer this man's leadership and skills.
7. St Kilda - Brayshaw. Saints need mids and Brayshaw gets the nod over Cerra with slightly better kicking skills IMHO.
8. St Kilda - Bonar. With a second pick Saints can take a risk, and Bonar has massive potential to be a big-bodied mid (in time) who could be a real matchwinner.
9. Bulldogs - Nathan Murphy. Really difficult to judge who the Dogs might go with, but needing to replace Bob & Boyd could they go a little out of the box here?
10. Carlton - Cerra. Blues still need midfielders, and it would be almost unbelievable if Cerra dropped to here. With x-factor covered by pick 3, Blues would be delighted to complement it with a really solid in & under mid like Cerra.

Bris - Dow - Just really like his consistency. Safest bet at Pick 1.
Freo - LDU - Every bit worth a pick in the top 2.
Carl - Rayner - Slips to 3, Blues will pounce.
Nth - Cerra - Won't pass on Cerra if he's still there at 4
Freo - Fogarty - Has slipped a bit, but still a beast.
Coll - Stevenson - Best available.
St K - Bradshaw - Best available
St K - Coffield - Best available
Bull - Constable - Best available
Carl - Clarke - Best available

Your selections for the Blues would be amazing, just hope your spot on all the way just at Kelly at pick 30 and I'd flip. Well done great outcome for the Baggers.

1: Brisbane - Paddy Dow: Firming as the number 1 pick this year, Paddy Dow has gained a lot of interest from the Lions on the home stretch towards draft night, and rightfully so. Dow has proven to be a class above his age group, evident by his dominant 35 possession, 2 goal best-on-ground performance in the TAC Cup against Grippsland, while also appearing to have much more growth left in his body to become one of the premier midfielders of the competition within a few years. Heiling from Victoria Country, Dow and Brisbane are shaping to become a match made in heaven.

2: Fremantle - Luke Davies-Uniacke: Big bodied, tall inside midfielder who has the body and tank to make an immediate impact at AFL level. Freo would be keen to bolster their inside mid stocks with their clearance and contested ball numbers dropping the past couple seasons, this pick helps the Dockers deal with the losses of both Weller and Balic, while Mundy is expected to hang up the boots very soon.

3: Carlton - Cameron Rayner: Blues fans will be absolutely stoked to see Raynor slip past picks 1 and 2 to fall right into Carlton's lap with their 1st selection at Pick 3. Boasting great 1 on 1 power and elite strength, Rayner is touted to become one of the dominant players in the competition with superstar, game breaking potential. Remember the name.

4: North Melbourne - Jaidyn Stephenson: Has burst into Top 10 calculations this year and has arguably had the best on-field performances to push his case as a Top 5 selection. Quick and powerful player who'll be a walk up starter to North's Best 22. Disposal is a little shaky but makes up for it in scoring prowess and high disposal numbers, and surprisingly a superb running shot at goal.

5: Fremantle - Adam Cerra: Although not one of the most exciting highlight packages going around, Adam Cerra has proven to be one of those players who does everything right and rarely costs your team anything less than a sub 30 disposal game. Think Scott Pendlebury when it comes to Cerra, sure not very flashy, but a damn fine footballer who any team would love on their list. Rumour reports Fremantle have been very keen on Cerra since being allocated pick number 5 in this year's draft, and will very gladly snap him up if the opportunity presents itself. With the acquisition of both Cerra (class) and LDU (strength), surrounded by the likes of Fyfe, Blakely, Neale, the Hills, Fremantle will no doubt be a very potent force to reckon with in the midfield come 2018 and beyond.

6: Collingwood - Darcy Fogarty: The wildcard in this year's draft, Fogarty could either go Top 5 or even slip to Adelaide's Pick 12. Fogarty was the standout player in his junior year and was touted as easily Pick number 1, until 2017 came along and put a massive dent in his Top 5 credentials. Fogarty could either be a flop or the best player in the draft, or anything in between, who knows, but the risk is worth the reward with Darcy. As for the Pies choosing him with Pick number 6, Collingwood desperately require elite, tall talent, and standing at 192cm, displaying elite size and strength with the potential to grow even further in both height and footballing ability, Fogarty is just what the magpie ordered.

7: St. Kilda - Andrew Brayshaw: Very clean inside midfielder who plays incredibly similar to his brother Angus at the Demons. Saints will be very happy to take Brayshaw here to bolster their midfield and create some run and carry which Brayshaw provides.

8: St. Kilda - Nicholas Coffield: When comparing Coffield to the other players on the football field, he looks like a Year 12 against Year 10's, flaunting his superior decision making off half back and shouting directions at his teammates with fantastic leadership qualities, who honestly wants to win the game the most out of anyone else. A haul of Brayshaw and Coffield will set the Saints up magnificently post 2017.

9: Western Bulldogs - Jack Higgins: Difficult decision as to who the Dogs take at this pick, but decided that they'll go with the pocket rocket Jack Higgins who has really shot up the draft consensus this year. Doesn't need a ton of possessions to cause havoc and is quite dangerous in the forward 50, Higgins would no doubt cause headache for opposition coaches.

10: Carlton - Charlie Constable: Rounding out the top 10 is Charlie Constable. Fantastic football smarts and very clean at ground level, the Blues would be keen to add another big bodied midfielder who never wastes a ball.

I could be wrong but this year seems to have a huge variation on the first round compared to previous years. I mean most years everyone essentially knows who is going where in the top 10 a month out from the draft, though there are usually one or two mistakes, or sometimes a bolter like Oliver, but this year, no one seems to have a clue, no one has any idea who will even be pick 1.

I am interested in the Swans getting Constable, but no one has any idea as some people have him going top 10, some have him slipping to pick 19. Same with Brander, some people have him going pick 6, some have him going in the late teens. This years draft feels like it is going to be super hard to predict.

This is more a glass half empty projection for the Saints than anything else, but I have a nasty feeling it's going to go:

1. Bris LDU
2. Freo Dow
3. Carl Rayner
4. North Cerra
5. Freo Brayshaw

So pretty much the equivalent of Melbourne to Portland. Thought so. Cheers.

Are you guys thinking of Brander?

From Wentworth on the NSW / Vic border and is actually closer to Adelaide then Melbourne or Sydney?
