Expect a good start to the year based on renewed vigor from the personnel changes. Then a taper off in form as other coaches work out what (if any) new tactics required to beat us. Then a couple of surprise wins towards the end of the season to end up 10-12th. Caracella appointed head coach. At least 1 VFL finals win. Optimism remains intact with a belief that with astute drafting and delistings and maybe a marquee signing, 2018 will be a return to the finals.

Regardless of how our side looked on paper for the first few rounds of 2016, the form of even our good players was horrible. Our skill level was abysmal, our decision making inept and our pressure levels were appalling. And it went downhill from there barring the Sydney game.

Hoping I'm wrong, but thinking a couple of our new recruits have joined us for the money on easy street, just like soooooooo many others before them over the past 30-odd years.

Bottom 3, and a continued major overhaul at the end of the year. Still a lot of personnel off the field, across a number of areas, I'd rather see the back of.

Keeping it real.

I expect a significant improvement in 2017 compared to the horse shit we dealt up this year. I expect a more attacking game plan and a more passionate/committed team with some muscle and balls to deliver it.. if we don't I am going to microwave my membership and take up a more peaceful hobby like scrap-booking or collecting pornography

My expectations
* Losing to Carlton round 1
* Another slow start to season
* Pressure on DH
* DH is sacked mid season
* Finish between 13-18
* Dusty, Jack & rance look for better clubs
* 3 picks in top 15 next year
* Club do the usual PR spin to keep members interested
* Loss of revenue in memberships and attendance
* Back to wilderness for the tiger...!

What a turnaround from this time last year - Top 4 to bottom 4...!

Go tiges

I dont think the assistants are all that important when compared to the influence the senior coach has, so taking that into consideration I think we're stuck with mediocrity until DH is gone.
There might be an early rebound period of stronger form but ultimately Dimma loves a battler, and cant get enough out of the higher skilled players to form anything but a frustrated team of footballers playing a shitty brand of football.

9-13th

I expect finals.
Best 22 is infinitely better next year. The synergistic benefits of Prestia and Caddy are significant. Mcintosh, Houli, C Ellis, Lennon, played bugger all last year. Griffo without TV, Rioli, Markov, Menadue should all prove dramatically.

The human trait is to take what just happened and extrapolate that insight into perpetuity, which is what is happening with forecasts for the Tiges.
Don't be fooled, it never works out that way. Hawks odds on this time last year?

I reckon we'll make a prelim. And there's no ceiling when you get to that point.

Given I am glass half FULL

What I expect (hope) is that
1) The squad changes make us much more competitive in contested ball
2) We play an attacking style that lets us score and we provide defensive pressure
3) Younger guys come on the next level to be solid AFL players. BEllis, CEllis, Menadue, KMac,
4) Year 1/2 players keep impacting and get better Rioli (love this guy) and Markov especially
5) The experienced players get going and all play well
6) Our 'leaders' find greater depth and we have more players leading the team on.
7) We start the season well
8) We finish the season well

We go top 4 and win at least one final.

There is nothing in that is unusual or weird. It's just that I expect to see it all happen.

No. That is glass FULL FULL. ;)

It all depends on the gameplan.

Given that we have chosen a radically different drafting strategy this year I expect that the coaches are going to try a different gameday strategy too.

If we stick to the sideways bullshit, Hardwick will be sacked by round 7. And he will deserve it.

If we actually play direct attacking footy, the sky is the limit as we have really improved our list and only lost Lids, who let's face it was going to get worse. CHF might be a concern (who to play there?) but teams don't really play conventional CHFs anymore due to the way everyone follows the ball around. You only really see a CHF line up in the right spot after a free kick forward of centre when everyone has been able to run back to position.

Provided we change the game plan we should make the finals. A team of Brownlow Medallists playing last year's game plan would get shitted on.
That's a good point linking draft strategy with game plan. Surely these fast types we've taken now mean we are looking to 'springboard'
through mid to forwardline.
Surely Damien you can see that!
Hunt/Ellis ....no chipping friggin sideways.

Prediction: as management plan for every year....

We'll be 'competitive'.

Most on the MB predict us to be around 15-18, which I can't understand. When you still have some of the best players in the competition (Dusty, Rance, Jack, and Cotch) paired with recruitments of Prestia/Caddy, and a force to be reckoned with in Nankervis (who is also only 22), I can't see how we're going to be a bottom 4 club. Our list still has some exciting young talent to look forward to, and many will continue to improve. No way will we finish lower than last year, some of the teams we put out towards the end of the year were absolutely horrendous.

2017 expectations?

More of these crypto #sackdimma threads.

13+ wins easy, why? because in 2016 we won 8 games and threw 2 others away ( and also got burnt by a Bannister special ) which would've seen us missing finals by 2 ( 1 ) games playing like crap and the playing group having a massive case of the sooks, an attitude change by all in 2017 will see us winning more games than this year no problems and making finals.
Yep agree 100%. So many people just say that we capitulated and compared us to Carlton 2015 and the like, but as you say, we did actually win some football games in there.

With the additions both on and off field surely we are going to play a fast free flowing game of football with a lot of run and carry and pressure especially tackling. I expect to win some big games but I am also realistic so we will loss games we shouldn't personally 6th-10th is where we fit but I think we can make the eight.
Then with two first rounders next year push up to 4th-6th.
Really excited but it's all in the gameplan and style now.

i agree with this.

If we are bottom 4 next year either

- coach needs to be kicked out the door face first
- theres some serious cultral issue
- we are cursed

I think AT WORST we will finish 10th, but I think we should be aiming much higher.
