The only match I can see after round 8 is the Hawthorn match which is a Geelong home game at the G.
Given the recent history between the two I think that is fair enough.

Given how crap we have been over a long period of time I don't think we can complain too much at this stage.

I think we need to wait for the 2018 draw and see which teams don't have to travel there then.

We've been pretty good in 3 out of the last 4 home and away seasons. . . . But this draw is a massive punishment for a shit 2016. I don't mind not having any Friday night games , weekend won't ve ruined before its begun.

Yeah, but I hate Sunday games (especially evening ones which we got a few of).
Nothing worse than ending the weekend with a loss and then having to front up at work the next day!

So now requests by other clubs mean nothing, but the cats requests need to be adhered to? The point is, the AFL has given the cats request a priority over ours, which is fair enough. But in the same breath, they should also reject the cats request, and schedule another bigger club in geelong as well. All im saying is play down there, not problem, but just as long as others do too.

You dont think the home clubs request takes priority given its their home game?

Away teams can influence, but thats all.

How would you feel if etihad clubs demanded all away games against them must be at etihad? Its as stupid as your demand

I'm just happy only 2 Sat arvo games, hate Sat arvo footy now

You mean stupid enough to force us to play geelong at their home ground for their home game?

Are you seriously suggesting the cats don't have the right to play their home games at home? Seriously?
Not at all rfc, I just didn't think with 70k members (maybe a few thousand less next year) they'd want us playing anyway bar the G or at worse Etihad when playing in Vic. I'm clearly deluded.

Why? Our last game at the g had a crowd that earns the cats significantly less for them than a packed out cat park. Why do you think tge cats want 11 at cat park? They only play the g because the afl forces them to

I would fully support them getting all 11 home games down there, it's their home ground, so they should be able to play there. But as mentioned numerous times, there is a gross inconsistency in us playing down there vs the others from the 'big 4'.

Look at thw math though

Pies hawks and dons historicallybhave stronger crowds, more members, and stronger rivalries with the cats. Add the strong afl and mcc numbers and these three are a no brainer from an afl/gfc perspective

So it leaves carlton, and in terms of the above, while we beat them in members, but they have a far better mcc and afl number to us.

One quirk to remember is this season their ground is only available in the back end of the year, so geelong was fighting hard for all of those games to be at home. For the early rounds when they are out, we are locked in with the dees the blues and the dons. It kills a lot of flexibility

The real surprise was that the 17-5 draw proposal is still on the table.
Adopting that 'fix' would sure change these types of discussions.

So are we redoing predictions again?

Here's mine, not in % order, based on what I saw last year, allows for trading, doesn't account for game plan changes (ours or anyone elses).

Based on the games at the G against opposition that we have beaten before, we could add 7 more wins.
But that depends on ................... etc.

I don't dislike Brisbane at all but I love the look of the other 3 in your bottom 4! That would be delicious!!! :thumbsu:

We got done over. Saints, Freo and GWS will all play finals. GWS won't lose a f***ing game.

Was hoping for double ups against North, Hawthorn, Geelong, Pies, Brisbane, Carlton, Gold Coast, Port or Essendon.
