Player for player I think our side matches up pretty well against theirs. I really don't rate their list outside of Dangerfield, Selwood and to a lesser extent Hawkins and Taylor. The rest are meh or just potential at the moment. They will cover for Bartel pretty easily but will struggle without Enright.

6th at best.
Hawkins only fires a shot every now again.Falling into the Cloke category.Taylor was good while it lasted.Their list is very similar to ours.Falls away quickly.Sorta against the move of getting Fyfe now on the exact basis of where the cats find themselves in right now.May make the 8 but everything has to go right.

Must be why we win all the time.

They finished top four so they will get a rough draw. F***in overrated campaigners, reckon they will plummet this season.
if they do our arse reaming of them will be complete when we get a super low pick lol

caddy for 24 and a pick upgrade + a low pick in 2017 cos they're shit = we gaped geelong :D

Apparently we have an easy draw according to the Herald Sun. They also mentioned that we'll probably be playing Carlton and Essendon twice from my understanding. That may mean we only play Collingwood once but we'll have to see.

Essendon will be top 4 . AFL and umps will make sure they are , bookmark it.

I bet it will mean more games for us there.
AFL will want to make money from it by putting teams in there that will draw a crowd.
i thought all Vic Teams had to host a game at Etihad until the AFL owned it, Hawks the only one not in that boat as they sell games to Tassie.
ideally we should never be hosting at Etihad now & never play in Geelong at all as our fans get locked out of the joint.

i seriously don't get why ppl rate them so highly. even with all thier players in they were a middle side at best......
they remind me of the Pies before this year where every "journo" had them top 4 contenders despite conceeding the most pts during the Nab games so the writing was on the wall early & now they have no backline so there will be some bags kicked against them next yr so hope we play them twice!
a dream draw for us is playing Carl/Coll/Ess all twice each regardless of form etc.

Off course we're getting an easy draw, if your not going to make finals tank and finish at least 13th by playing a shitload of kids thus ensuring you have a good fixture the following year. Bris, Carlton and freo twice is my guess, Coll and maybe nm twice from the next group and no twice games against the top group.

Agree. In 2012 while they were cheating, they finished 11th. In 2013, they would have been 7th but got bumped back to 9th for being cheating campaigners. Then 7th again and 15th before the ban hammer came down. Now they're not on drugs anymore (you would think), have missed a year of footy and have a new coach who is so far 1/1 for spoons at the club. Their banned players were mostly not that good anyway (and some of the best ones have moved to other clubs), so even if they immediately regained their doped up form, they're still only a fringe finals team. The only way they win more than a handful of games this year is if the AFL makes it so.

Richmond will be handed a dream draw when the 2017 AFL fixture is released

RICHMOND’s disastrous finish to last season will ensure Damien Hardwick’s men receive one of the easiest draws in Thursday’s 2017 AFL fixture release.

The Tigers are set to receive a maximum of only one double-up match-up against the top-six sides next season after slumping into the bottom-six of the ladder this year.

Richmond won only one of its last six games to fall into 13th spot.

It means the Tigers will be guaranteed one of the softest line-ups in 2017 with a minimum of two and maximum of three double-up games against fellow bottom six-sides, including Carlton (14th) and Essendon (18th).

They will avoid frequent run-ins with powerhouse teams from the top-six.

Collingwood finished 12th this year and narrowly avoided the same fixture benefits.

The AFL’s weighted rule is designed to create more on-field equity, whereby clubs are scheduled to play more frequent games against teams at similar stages of development.

A kind start to Richmond’s 2017 campaign could help take the pressure off Hardwick, whose assistant coaching panel was overhauled on the back of a disappointing 2016.

Hardwick is out of contract at the end of 2018.

The Tigers have genuine hopes of re-entering the finals mix next season after stacking their midfield with the inclusion of prime onballers Josh Caddy, from Geelong, and Suns’ star Dion Prestia at the expense of veteran Brett Deledio.

Richmond was last night installed a $1.55 favourite with TAB to win the traditional season-opener against Carlton at the MCG.

Teams from the top-six, including premiers Western Bulldogs, Hawthorn and Geelong, will receive the harshest draws.

They are drawn to play a minimum of two and maximum of three double-up games against fellow top-six teams.

Just outside the top-six bracket are North Melbourne and West Coast, who both lost their first-round finals match-ups and will form part of the middle-six grouping in the fixture release.
