Any chance Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood could play in Geelong next year? They are so much bigger than us. NOT

Richmond coming to Geelong is a definite sign IMO that Carlton and Essendon will over the next few years. Our recent attendances against those two have been quite paltry.

Those complaining about no Friday night games. Are we all pretending that Thursday night games don't basically equal Friday night games? :drunk::drunk::drunk:

We kick off the first and second round of the season. Sounds like prime time to me...:drunk::drunk::drunk:

When people have work/uni the next day and kids have school. :drunk::drunk::drunk:

I didn't think the AFL were actually that stupid to send us to Geelong, but they did. What a bunch of muppets.

You mean stupid enough to force us to play geelong at their home ground for their home game?

Are you seriously suggesting the cats don't have the right to play their home games at home? Seriously?

When was the last time hawthorn Collingwood Essendon played down there stadium only holds 27k...

Fact is if we have 12 plus wins (which we will) there is no way this game should be held at kardinia park

46 thousand last time at the g and we were shizen..

Hawthorn is a regular finalist who have more members than us

Collingwood have more members than us

and essendon pull more than us at the g thanks to superior afl and mcc numbers

Afl force geelong to play at least three a year at the g, and no shit we fall behind the dons, pies, and hawks right now

It's their home game, and it's their preference to play it at cat park. What we think is irrelevant

How come Carlton never play down there

How come Carlton never play down there

Who cares?

Seriously though, another club with superior MCC and AFL numbers than us.

Remember it's geelongs home game, not ours

Essendon Geelong crowd last year was 29254 fifteen thousand less than us
Carlton Geelong was 33k

Send those arsebats down there

again, their home game, and THEIR preference is to play essendon, collingwood, hawthorn, and the blues at the McG if they have to play there before they play us there. What part of that don't you get? It's their preference

You are aware the ground is being redeveloped again, which is why their home games there was reduced to 7 games. This significantly reduced the flexibility of the schedule given other club demands. Once again, THEIR PREFERENCE, NOT OURS

WELL don't f***** go! Seriously, you don't get two Saturday night or Friday night games against Essendon, Carlton and Collingwood every year, zero interstate trips to anywhere but Brisbane each year and a handful of games and a game every second week against Brisbane at the MCG. The draw has pros and cons for all and we are whinging about going to Geelong once in five years!
Uh I wont go?
Its about a fair fixture, I dont give a shit if we have to play Geelong in Geelong. As long as other clubs do aswell.
I dont see why we have to play them down there, while other teams haven't in 2 decades.

But of course you would completely miss the point of a comment. No surprise there.

Doesnt matter who wants what, its the AFLs decision in the end.
Also I find it VERY hard to believe their preference is to play Carlton at the G (espically since they always play at Ethihad), but us at Simmonds. Geelongs preference would be to play all their home games at Simmonds, so why are we picked out as a team that goes to Simmonds while Carlton/Collingwood/Essendon are not?
Its not crowd numbers and its not membership numbers.

Geelong’s belief is that well-supported Melbourne clubs like Richmond, Essendon and Carlton should now be considered to play games at Simonds Staidum as the capacity swells to 36,500.

Though I think we should play Richmond at Simonds, I'm with you guys regarding the inconsistency. It sucks.

Are six clubs as well not playing down there?
Did we lay there in 2013, 14, 15?
I'll explain it .... scheduling has a lot to do with putting the A-grade games in prime time and at bigger venues.
Richmond v Geelong is not prime time.
Was it fair we played eight Friday night games in 2016? At everyone else's expense?
You cop some good with some bad. Suck it up!
We're not immune to missing out like every club does; or getting the good when it comes.

You are aware that this is the Richmond board? Except for you, just about everyone on the board doesn't care if it is their preference. most think it is a stupid decision. What part of that don't you understand. Oh wait, its 74. Understanding of the important issue doesn't seem to come into it.

What part of you thinks we get to dictate our wants on other clubs? Grow up and stop being a child chucking his toys out because you have to play a game at a clubs home ground

All clubs send a list of preferences to the afl

Saints will beat us lol
Freo might too

Maybe. Though I honestly reckon we shouldn't fear either. I don't see either being vastly superior list wise. I'd even have Freo below us on quality across the board.

We also have GWS twice who I'm pretty much writing off as 2 losses for us. :p

WELL I do, if it's Geelong's preference the AFL has to take it into consideration, as it does our wants and demands.
You won't please everyone all the time. With 18 clubs to accommodate, 18 get some of what and some of what they don't want.
It's our preference to open the season v Carlton at the MCG on Thursday which we have for the past however many years, bar one. The AFL accommodates us and they compromise in other areas.
Very easy logic.
Richmond cannot have everything - it's a compromise - as the league does for 18 clubs.

I'm not worried about GWS

We always do better when Lids plays

I can't see how few people understand this.
Correct EVERY club sends its preferences - 18 of them.
They get a lot of what they want and some of what they do - all 18 of them.
It's caused compromising. The AFL compromises 16 other clubs by continually giving us Carlton at the MCG to open the season.
If people want fairness, we should be banished to 3.15pm Sunday in round one against the Lions in Darwin.
But no, it's a preference of ours that that count and should be considered.
