Certainly not the odd one out. I really enjoy etihad and it feels like our home ground. We've had some amazing matches there over the years as well.

You don't realise just how horrible Etihad is until you go to a big match at the G and then go to Docklands afterwards. Not being the G is it's biggest fault (as well as the scoreboard's blocking the view) and this club should be at the G at the end of the day.

Dont get me wrong, the G is a special place and i would like a 7-4 split of games at the G to etihad. But etihad horrible, I don't feel that way at all? Playing teams like brisbane, gws, fremantle, port and wce can all be played at etihad without a worry.

An arvo with the roof open is decent but it's a sterile atmosphere when closed, also makes it weird to breathe. The seat covers at one end are atrocious, scoreboards make the viewing terrible. The ramps are bad for me with my weak ankles, need to be upgraded to escalators.

how are the ramps at etihad different from the ramps at the G?

never had issue with the scoreboards at etihad, where the ones at the G these days are obscured by the stands themselves

The atmosphere has more to do with crowd numbers (% of capacity, not raw numbers) and the game rather than wether the roof is open or not

I wasn't aware there were ramps at the G as I've always used the escalators. There's stairs at Etihad but not good enough for the modern stadium it's meant to be.

If you sit near the scoreboard at Etihad most of the wing is cut off. Meaning it cannot be full without being a pain, which is something we'll need once the Bombers start winning and a heavy amount of seats are sold week to week.

The atmosphere is improved with the roof open, makes it feel like a proper stadium instead of playing in a tent. The sound carries better.

Love the view and atmosphere at Etihad - Get the wrong seats at the MCG and it's like watching ants play - Definitely feel you are closer to the action at Etihad - You can't beat an indoor stadium.

Agree with this - with the exception of the restricted view next to the scoreboard, level 3 of Etihad is a great view (level 2 on the wing is probably as close to the action as you can get, but you do pay top dollar for those seats). Level 4 at the G is ok for the first 15 rows or so, but is much further back than Etihad.

As for atmosphere, the roar when Hird kicked the winning goal against West Coast in 2004 at Docklands was pretty incredible. Unfortunately we haven't had many sell-out games there in the last few years.

This is why I think Adelaide Oval is the best stadium in the country at the moment.

Even when you have the worst seats you feel like your close to the ground. Amazing seating for a 50000 seat stadium.

Next years fixture will be fascinating seeing as we did finish bottom, however of course under the most exceptional circumstances you can think of.

I personally think we'll get Carlton, Brisbane, Collingwood, Port Adelaide and Hawthorn twice

An Ideal Fixture would be something like this

RD1: Essendon v Melbourne MCG (Fri) fta
RD2: Port Adelaide v Essendon AO (Sat)
RD3: St Kilda v Essendon Eti (Sat n) fta
RD4: Essendon v Geelong MCG (sat) fta
RD5: Essendon v Collingwood MCG (Tues) fta
RD6: Essendon v Brisbane Eti (Sun T)
RD7: Carlton v Essendon MCG (Sun) fta
RD8: GWS v Essendon Spotless (Sat T)
RD9: Richmond v Essendon MCG (Sat n) fta
RD10: Essendon v Fremantle Eti (Sun)
RD11: Essendon v North Melbourne Eti (Sat)
RD12: West Coast v Essendon DS (Sun T)
RD13: Essendon v Hawthorn Eti (Sun) fta
RD14: Western Bulldogs v Essendon Eti (Sat n) fta
RD15: Sydney v Essendon SCG (sat t)
RD16: Essendon v Gold Coast Eti (Sat)
RD17: Collingwood v Essendon MCG (Fri) fta
RD18: Essendon v Port Adelaide Eti (sat)
RD19: Brisbane v Essendon Gabba (sun)
RD20: Essendon v Adelaide Eti (sat n) fta
RD21: Hawthorn v Essendon MCG (sat)
RD22: Essendon v Carlton MCG (TBA)

That would give us 2 friday night games against Melbourne (home) and Collingwood (away) and four saturday night games
Overall 10 FTA games

I think its probably a fair fixture for an 18th placed team

We've actually requested to play them RD 1 at the G, so unlikely to happen.

To be fair, even though we seem to always get a home game against a team that is an MCG tenant (who also plays MUCH better there compared to Etihad), I quite like the fixture, as there has been some memorable games between these two in the last half-dozen years or so.

It'd be great if this were to happen. Only playing Fremantle away again on the other hand...
