That's true. Wonder why this years GF didn't get to six figures though... certainly enough people wanted to go and couldn't get tickets. Do you think a lot of people bought tickets and then didn't show up? (Corporates?) Otherwise maybe there's OHS reasons for limiting capacity... *shrug*
MCG max. Capacity is 100,024 so 99,981 is pretty good. Only 43 no shows which can be explained by the odd people who couldn't make it last minute and a few corporates who couldn't be bothered.

Ah, yeah. I think I mis-read Doss' post as well.

Either way, we won't be opening the season with six-figure attendances.

Not out of the realms of possibility. Big Essendon contingent to welcome the players back. Big Hawthorn crowd to try to match them. No footy for the previous 5 or so months.
If you want to maximise crowd for next year, home game vs Melbourne will do it. Could get mid 80k. Hawthorn has more potential to draw big vs us later in the season

Anymore talk about North hosting Essendon in tassie next season?

With the AFL now having bought Etihad, could this see us play more games at the MCG?

A split of 6-5 at the MCG would be amazing. I could see us getting at least one more MCG home game

Maybe now we will get Melbourne at Etihad (in 2018) and Hawthorn at the MCG each year?

Against GWS and co?

Nah.

All home fixtures against Victorian sides on the other hand...
Vic sides:
I'd prefer to play Melbourne, Richmond, Collingwood, Carlton, Hawthorn and Geelong at the MCG.

Bulldogs, St Kilda and North at Etihad (unless it is a huge game).

Interstate sides:

Sydney and West Coast at the MCG

GWS, GC, Port, Fremantle, Brisbane and Adelaide at Etihad.

A split of 6-5 every year.

Does this sale terminate our deal? Because if it does, then can we change to the MCG?

EFC has a fantastic deal at Etihad, so there is no reason for the club to change - AFL buying Etihad means other clubs will get a better deal.

I wasn't talking about a deal, it was about a club with 60 k members being at a home ground with a 50k capacity.

No, it says that "Essendon and Carlton split their home games between Docklands and the MCG" meaning that's what we currently do. It doesn't say anything about what might happen with us.
Ah I completely misread it.

They did however say on the Essendon website that we would consider our mix of home games between Etihad and MCG

That they did :)

How many times has Essendon got 50K to Etihad ? That will give you an answer.

Problem for Essendon with Ethihad is when you have 20,000+ season seats the real capacity of the ground drops to about 43,000. They have tried seat resale and scrapped it. A 43,000 seat stadium will mean the club needs to shift 2, maybe 3 if it's current 7 games back to the G I would've thought.

This fantastic news that the AFL has purchased Etihad stadium.

All home games against Victorian teams should be played at the G from now on.

Never because when people hear the game will have a close to capacity crowd it turns away walk-ups because they don'f think they'll get a ticket... its the freeways and cars theory. We get 50k playing Melbourne home at the G, we wouldn't get that many at Etihad, only 40k max.

There's also a whole wing on level two of Medallion club and a section on level two on the other side that's for the centre wing membership which can't be used by the general public or Essendon members.

Off the top of my head I can remember only two or three 50k games at Etihad and I reckon all of them have been against Geelong.
One against Hawthorn, 2012 I think
