I've never advocated GnR

There is always a midprice or two in my teams
Normally players returning from injuries, like a Beams .....that's hardly Mid Price Madness

Now selecting Oliver maybe ......and unfortunately i'm guilty of that consideration, due to my manlove of this guy

Ok have a dilemma, i need help with

Currently i have a 4 prem 4 rookie defense, with Mills as my D4 ....and a 3 prem 5 rookie forward line

I get that we have more defensive rookies, but i really like Mills :$ ......and think he'll score more than a Roughead at F4?

Do i retain my defensive setup ? or drop Mills to add a 4th prem forward or upgrade Sandi as my R2 Ruck?

help.

recommend me a forward please, any old forward will do but bonus points will be given if valued $500K or under.
i have Roughy and Dahl and i'm not interested in Heeney or Macrae.
Caddy, Ryder and Lycett have all come under consideration.
NRoo is the obvious choice but i'd have to make sacrifices elsewhere to get him.

so yeah, all the forward options suck and i need someone to tell me who to choose :straining:
Buddy for me too...
I've swapped out macrae for buddy - i just like having the joy & pain of having buddy in my team

Would keep Sandi after yesterday. He is definitely worth the risk especially if we have preuss/cameron as cover. Back your gut, if you think Mills will reach a keeper average, back him in, provided that there are enough rookies with Job security in fwds come round 1 for a 3-5 structure.

stick with what you've got...provided there are enough fwd rookies.
forwards are shit this year. im struggling to pick 3 of them, let alone 4.

plus im not convinced it will be raining defensive rookies like some people expect once R1 teams are selected.

Even if plenty are named R1 some will be one bad game away from getting dropped. Those coaches talking about running a 2-0-6 defence (or even 1-1-6!) are playing with fire I think.

Thinking about Caddy. Surely he's capable of being top 10 fwds

Probably only needs a couple more touches a game to get there, is the 12th highest averaging option this year. I've got him, just worried about whether he can play 20+ games.
Rnd12 bye is the sealer.

You were anti-Caddy a few weeks ago, what happened to change your mind?

With the lack of forwards, he is almost guaranteed to be a top 10 forward. His DPP certainly helps as well. Solid pick in my opinion.
What about Higgins ....two impressive performances and well priced?

Are there enough rookie forwards with starter worthy scoring potential?

Wasn't Anti-Caddy, was on the Vlastrain, didn't want both. Changed from Vlas to 2e atm. Injury history is a worry but I'm not going with JOM, Swallow, Adams etc so I think its worth the risk

That I am real unsure on. On one hand, North need several guys to step up to fill the roles that exist after the obvious retirements and trades. But plenty of guys on here who have been burnt by him before are doing a good job of steering me away from him. Need to watch JLT3.

Not for 3 on-field playing .....unless you get a keeper rookie like a Bowes or Tarranto? ....but that's still a big unknown

Devon Smith is back on my radar

I've been keen on him since the end of last season. I really think he can get back to that 90 average, and even push 92-99

Scored 83 points on Friday from 69% ToG, with 15 touches, 6 tackles and a goal

I'll be watching him closely on Friday night

lol no

no doubt, but i'd prefer something a little less speculative. reckon he could end up in the mid 80's with a solid season.

im not sure if i have the patience for the KPF rollercoaster but they seem like a solid option given the lack of ball winning forwards.

so far im leaning towards Chad with Lynch also under consideration.

i'd love to get a look at a fit Lycett before the season starts to get an indication of how much ruck time he'll have to share with Vardy, Giles and Petrie

Buddy was actually quite consistent as kf's go last year for a long time. His first 10 rounds were great (low of 83 high of 116) and then he had some poor games 2nd half of the year yes, but for a KF he only had 1 'rollercoaster' period in rnds 21-23 (141-34-136). That's what worries me is that he's such a key part to Sydneys finals hopes, come SC finals they'll take no chances with him and either rest him entirely or bench him for significant periods of a game.

I'd be perfectly happy with Buddy in my team, except Macrae is the same price and feels a bit safer. If not for that, Buddy would be right back in because I'm pretty sure he'll be a top 10 forward... you'll just probably be able to get him in the mid $400ks because he'll string together two or three quiet games.

all depends on the rest of your fwds.

if you have guys with high ceiling but inconsistent, then Macrae is the way to go - 85-110 each week
if the other way around, grab Buddy

Two points on that:
  1. There's some degree of truth in that if you're going for league wins, but if you're going for overall inconsistency versus consistency doesn't matter as much - just the final total score.
  2. However in neither case should it depend on the rest of your forwards. Instead it should depend on the rest of your team as a whole - your overall total score for forwards counts towards absolutely nothing.

This.

Macrae's lower scores aren't as low.

Plus, I already have Heeney, Florent and Cameron in my forwards so don't have room for a 4th Swan in one line...
