Wouldn't say miles ahead. Lenny played 16 games in just his first season, Steele 17 in his first 2 years...

It's an interesting early comparison.

Both were 19/20 for the duration of their 1st/2nd seasons respectively.

Lenny got more games but for a team that was headed towards the spoon in his 2nd year, while the Giants were headed upwards and with a much greater depth of talent. if not for his injury Steele would've seen more games in 2016 too.

Averages across their first 2 seasons;
Lenny - 13 disposals 2 tackles
Steele - 15 disposals 4 tackles

I haven't seen much love for macrae. Why are people taking guys like greene and riewoldt over him?

I'm surprised more haven't selected Macrae. In a year full of unpredictable forward premos, Macrae is a reliable and consistent pick. Pretty much guaranteed 95-100 average for the year.

Has been in my side since day 1 and has not moved, bigger lock than Dahlhaus & Riewoldt IMO

Year out, awkward price, needs to average at least 95 and miss only one or two games max to be worth it.
90+ will do imo

I highly doubt we'll have a 110 averaging forward this year, let alone 3.. I even doubt we'll get a 105 averaging forward

90+ for a forward premium is back imo

Reasons I'm not taking Roughead :

  • Our list is 98% fit (Ceglar ACL)
  • ^^ We will manage Rough, we did okay without him last year. Plenty of talls who can play forward and kick goals. Plenty of medium/shorts as well.
  • ^^^ We are aiming for top 4 again, and why wouldn't we? If we make the finals, a rested and prepared list is the key.
  • He is returning from immunotherapy. While nobody knows the exact impact it will have, it will surely have some impact. Getting up and ready for an AFL match week to week is hard enough for some players who are 100% fit.
  • He's not THAT cheap. If he scores at a 73 average, his price will sit at 367k until his bye. If he scores at 85, he'll only profit 50k until his bye and leave you scratching your head.
I can see why a lot of people are keen on him to balance their forward spend due to the lack of rookies. he is a gun player and one of my all time favourites, but I don't think he's a good SC selection in 2017.

As soon as Rough misses, and he will miss, you'll be taking a rookie score. Even if he does average 93, that rookie score will bring Rougheads perceived average down 4-5 points per game missed ( as you will likely be copping a 60-65 from a rookie ).

I reckon Dahl could nudge 110 if he has a ripper of a season, 105 most likely. GC Lynch could be another that has the potential, better midfield and them winning more games plus he's the right age to break out. 90 would be a disappointment out of Roughy.

Hey all- what are people going with for Premium forwards? With less players like Dusty having DPP status, finding it hard for those forward locks after Dahlhaus.
One of Franklin,JJ.Kennedy or TLynch of the suns variety wouldnt look out of place.

NRoo and buddy with Higgins at F4

Thanks for the help- FWD Line is looking like

N Riewoldt, Dahlhaus, McRae
Billings, WHE, Ainsworth

Eddy and Aaron Black (likely to go for another named player in Rd1) on the bench

Thoughts or changes? Not sure on Billings but think he has the potential to have a strong year despite being in the dreaded mid price range.
