Yep at his price really you are picking him just about as a keeper. But I can't see 105 even if he is a good footballer. Too much of a contest for points at GWS.

Yeah not for classic but I'll be keeping a close eye on him for my draft league.

does anyone find Isaac Smith intriguing at all? Has gone 90 and 88 in 14 and 15.
Could the loss of Brad hill bump his scoring up? they may look for him more often.

Just not a SC friendly player.

Gunston is the one to look out for now with Hill gone, especially if Roughie plays round 1.

I don't know why but I don't really rate smith. I just get the sense that he's good in a good team but with Hawthorn maybe (hopefully for the saints) about to slide a bit I don't know that he will be as effective. I know I'm probably on my own on this one.

Not really a SC comment but just my thoughts

not on your own.

Certainly don't SC rate him

Think he's a just above average footballer in a great team getting the most out of himself and the environment

I think Smith is the best winger in the league after Gaff. Not s SC player, though.

This argument gets trotted out a bit too frequently for mine. I've seen it said with reference to at least a dozen Hawks in the last year or 2. Either the other 10 players are f%$#&#@ amazing or someones making a bad assessment of players skills somewhere.

For mine he's in the top few in his position/role in the comp but agree the role is not conducive to big SC scores.

Agree to disagree big time.

Who do you have in front?
Scully. I reckon Kelly is overrated, I'm shocked that he's mentioned with Bontempelli, Cripps and Merrett so often. I won't change my mind until he goes inside and wins some of his own ball, which I don't think he'll do with GWS's strong inside mids.

Can see why people rate him, though.

I reckon the only Hawks player involved in all four flags who is rated higher than he should be is Lewis. He's only had one and a half years of being a gun. Hodge, Mitchell, Roughead, Rioli and Birchall have been freaks the whole time.

I'm with you on that, bit of an outside seagull with dash, pops up here and there for something brilliant every odd game. Should be juddlike with his pace but just isn't close.

Any Hawks fans able to shed some light on Gunston? Roughead and Vickery up forward surely means he A) gets the second best defender and B) moves up the ground more?
Injured last year. Among the best at training so far flying apparently. Very tempted. Roughy and Vickery in the 22 could see him have a great season. You can throw blanket over the forwards imo - tough to pick the best atm but he would have to be considered esprcially if he has a run on the wing as rumoured.

Saying Smith should be like Judd is a really poor comparison. Totally different players.

What both Smith and Hill don't get credit for is the unrewarded running, creating space for others. This is normal for a lot of teams now, but when it was really pushed by the hawks 4-5 years ago these two set the standard for the rest of the league to follow. They are supposed to be high possession getters but be more link players.
As a result of their roles both are not sc friendly, but depending on how Hill is used at Freo he could become a sneaky option up fwd.

Comparing him to Judd is daft, he's a wingman and he's been one of the best and consistent in the league for the last 4 seasons.

However, as SC option I'm not a fan.
