unless lock forward rookies appear soon, I'll be going with
Dahl, Wingard, Heeney, Ryder, Roughy, rookie (rookie, rookie)
Love the Wingard pick, I think that one will begin to grow legs now that the JLT has begun and the rumours of more midfield time are starting to flow!
Roughy is value at first glance, although I'm worried that the cancer therapy he has undergone may seriously interrupt his ability to play 18+ games, and if everyone is expecting 95 average ( which is bullish IMO ) then 18 x 95 is quite average, and you should really just look elsewhere to try and save a trade. I love Rough, and there's a definite soft spot for him in my heart. Love him being captain, going to love him playing footy this year - I just think logic says he is a bad pick for SC2017.
Heeney reminds me of Luke Parker in 2014. Coming off 22/86 in the 2013 season, Parker broke out in his 4th season after playing 57 games at AFL level and averaged 22/108 in 2014 as a M/F!
Heeney has only played 38 games (2 seasons) of AFL so far in his career, are we going too early here? I feel like a ~90 average from a starting 'keeper pick' is a bit of a stopper, especially if he is a common player. Maybe consider going somebody as a POD that could explode. Wingard is a good example, but you've already picked him. Summary on Heeney is, as good as he is as a player I just don't see him finding the premium average that is required considering that Sydney is packed to the brim with beast SC scorers. Might be worth just starting an extra rookie (hopefully) and leaving Heeney alone. He's been in and out of my team, but I'm about 33% to start him.
Ryder is equally as dangerous, especially when grouped with Roughead, Heeney, Wingard. I reckon minimise the risk on this line, and maybe throw an M. Murphy/ D. Beams in the mids to balance it out. Even take the risk by going with a super premium/rookie combo and keeping the change. I just see yourself exposed to a few too many unnecessary trades just due to your confidence in a lot of players achieving/matching career bests. Not saying that's a bad thing, just saying that you can't have them all.
