Higgins will be top 3 FWD average this year imo but even if I was to drop him I couldn't afford it, under 10k in the bank.

Why do you think he would be top 3 FWD's this year? I dont understand how anyone could come to that conclusion. Are you basing that on anything, or just an opinion?

I personally think Roughead is a nothing pick. You don't pick him at that price to make money and you'd expect he'll miss games. I predict he'll average low 90's at best, so Greene

with Wells and Harvey gone he's pretty much the only outside runner at the club.

i dont think this amounts to him being a top 3 fwd but i think thats the reasoning.

Midfield minutes in a poor team with not much competition. Think he'll be up around 98. I'll explain over in the main thread I'm posting my team now.

Can't help with preseason. Pretty low compared to his teammates.

I've cut Ryder and Taranto for Buddy and D.Cameron

Assuming Cameron gets named he can be back up ruck in a pinch (decent JS if named IMO)

Plus he will have a new floating around the ground role including more midfield time and he is actually a very good clearance player.

I'm keen on Higgins as well. My main concern is if he gets tagged. It sounds contradictory, but the saving grace is he may not play mid enough to be tagged.

I currently have both he & Roughy, but there are definite risks associated with both.

I'm struggling to get excited at many premo fwds at this stage, so feel Roughy at $360k is less risk than going Greene/JK/Buddy for what could be similar output.
Although more likely to play 22 games.

I can totally understand that perspective. As the preseason has gone on premiums like Kennedy and Lynch have grown on me so much that I don't want to start without them. But if you struggle to like any of the premiums then Roughead does make sense

Why is he going to miss games?

Well he is coming back from cancer, having done immunotherapy, although I believe it's not as debilitating as chemotherapy it's still not great for your body - despite its success in killing cancer.
He wouldn't have been doing a lot of training last year either so fitness slightly down.

I think his health and fitness will be very closely monitored and he'll be looked after with a few "easy" games off.

He had 20 months off for a 6 month treatment?

Then was made captain. He will play every game.

He averaged 91 in his last season. He then proceeded to have all of 2016 off having immunotherapy. I personally think we'll see a drop in performance or having to miss games, potentially a mixture of the two.

His JLT scores and performances didn't exactly set things alight - and he doesn't have the limited game time or different role excuse to explain his JLT performances

Even if he averages 90-95, he'll play like 16 or 17 games at most I think; I just can't pick him due to the fact he'll be managed quite a bit. The Hawks will be in no position to risk him, and any time he feels ill or simply not with it, they'll give him the week off.

Dahl, buddy, nank, hoskin-Elliot, Taranto, McCarthy

What premo should I get in and why need reasons to get a player in not just cause someone likes them and also thoughts on McCarthy? Is he worth it or not

Looking at Petracca. Immeasurable talent. Surely a better option than Steele?

I was massively impressed with that JLT2 game, but calmed on him in the 3rd game.

I think he will be a great player, but for now I'm happy to sit and watch, leaving him out of my team for now.

Greene's upside is essentially tied to how much time he spends on ball?

With that, his upside is limited. GWS midfield is stacked in that department.
