My problem, whilst i like Taranto and WHE ....is that they won't Moo as quickly, but they'll most likely score reasonable

But does their price and lack of $$$$appreciation, ultimately put your season ($50K) at risk ?
They might not make as much money but they have better js then most rookies it kinda is worth the risk

Given the lack of cheap options, paying an extra 100K for WHE isn't a bad idea, you would want him to score around 70 each game and you could jusitfy it, and he looks likely to be able to deliver that.

I get the feeling alot of the forward rookies are going to come out a bit later, so getting someone on the ground early and then waiting for the downgrades isn't a bad move.

I agree ....my problem is i like my final side .....but i want to get WHE in & need to find that extra $90K

Can i borrow some money? ......:p

**** no you cant borrow money, do I look like a bank? :D

You can always find money somewhere, season doesn't start for another 2 days, so your team has several more incarnations to go through.

If your happy with the rookies you have down forward, I dont think you need to get WHE, it depends on your set up. He is there if you need an extra rookie, but have already got all the cheap viable options.

Don't think there's currently a forward Rookie anyone could be comfortable with under $200K

Am i better off converting a Ryder to Steel and WHE / Taranto ......am i better off points wise?

Probably not, Ryder is primed to be number 1 ruck at Port, so should do well.

Steele is 50/50, so wouldn't be banking on him.

There are a few rookie options to go with, Eddy, Parfitt, Simpkin, Pickett, Bowes, Black, etc. All present value at under 200K, just got to see who is named R1

Question: Are you picking Nankervis due to his price ? ......or his scoring capacity?

If it's price, is that a good reason, given PS form is notoriously a bad indicator of season proper ? .......just playing Devils Advocate ;)
The biggest JLT myth is when people say JLT form has no connection to season proper - one of the biggest things to watch preseason is roles, and Nankervis has number 1 ruck and showed great promise. 90% of premiums kill it preseason, the ones that generally don't play a different role (see JPK playing JLT1 predominantly forward). You don't see Zac Dawson, Bastinac, Naismith, Lester and any other non-SC relevant players lighting it up preseason.

Dangerfield, Beams, Selwood, Treloar Priddis, Mitchell all had very good preseasons, and so did a heap of other top-end premiums - players don't go half hearted.

I'm picking him for a mixture of price, scoring capacity, role he'll play and his preseason form.

Not to mention his hit outs to advantage ability.

The Nank is a tank.

True. He is the go to man for Freo. Fyfe, Mundy, Neale and the Hill boys will keep him busy. I am playing Pickett in the mid (DPP). Only other fwd I like is Eddy and now Cameron is out. If Taranto or WHE string games together it is an easy move.

Yeah, that's my thinking ....as much as i'd love to have Taranto in the side

Again Steele may go well early, not appreciate in $ Value ......and then, remembering this will be his first full season, become increasingly inconsistent

Conversely having continuity may increase his consistency.

The guy is a gun, no doubting that, but at almost 35 I am shocked he is still up and going at his size.

I just keep thinking this is the year he slows down, he had to carry the team last year, but those younger guys will be able to hold their own better now, so you wonder whether or not he will take it a bit easier.

Think of a guy like Kelly Slater in surfing.

They have been saying he will fall off for years. Never did and never will and is close to 40?.

Some men are born superhuman.

As for taking it easier, Riewoldt isn't that guy. There are stories of coach trying to take him off for rest but he won't have it. He hates to sit down.

For half a season(that is my plan) I'm happy to bank his 100+ scores in the forward line on his favourite ground.

I will truly miss him when he decides to hang the boots up. Runs his guts out and plays the right way.

One of the greats who deserved a premiership. Who knows, maybe he will get his moment this year.
