We are really in a win-win position here. GC come up with pick 2 or risk:
a) He re-signs with us next year
b) They continue to be average, Lynch leaves and Weller goes to Vic to be around actual family. Plenty of Melbourne clubs would love to have him.

Worst case scenario for us is that we lose him for pick 20 next year which just replaces him with Carter. I'd argue we can still get a mid first round pick for him next year anyway. If he has a breakout year (something Freo clearly think is about to happen) we might even get a top 10 pick in a significantly better draft.

We have been more than accommodating with Balic and Crozier, we have the power on this one and arent letting go.

I disagree, Freo hold all of the cards. We don't need to do anything but give them our proposal and wait - The only team that needs this done is the Suns.
Wilsons manager has already stated that our 2nd rounder will get the job done so its not going to affect anything.
HOLD bondy Lloydy HOOOLLLDDD.
Take the risk and hold Weller until next year if GC don't pony up Pick 2. Weller has said he is happy to see out his contract. GC's 2nd rounder next year will likely be around Pick 20 which would still be a good get considering it's the super duper draft.

Freo and GC will make it happen.

We still need to satisfy GWS for Wilson so the Weller to GC scenario is now crucial for this to occur (unless GWS accepts a swap of future picks which they have already knocked back). Also we have to get Matera in.

This trade really does need to happen, as much as Lloyd would like everyone to think we have control, we have committed to getting Wilson and Matera to the club, and this will help us facilitate that.

The worst thing that can happen to Gold Coast is they don't make the trade, Weller thinks a bit more about it over the next 12 months and signs the extension here.

Public. Relations. Nightmare.
And if Weller's agent commented to GCSs that it is a possibility then it may speed up negotiations.

I don't disagree that we are in a strong position, I just don't agree that a deal won't be done.

*sorry a couple of double negatives in that sentence.
Think Lloyd is locked into holding for pick 2. We've got unders on two youngsters leaving and he's come out, talked up the kid and set his trade value. If we end up with only 2 seconds etc etc Lloyd looks a right fool.

I reckon it'll end up being 2, 21 and some change. for 5 and Weller
Can't see them give up the first round totally.
If we ended up with Wilson (for 21), Matera, our 2018 second still in hand and Rayner or LDU?

Yeah I'd be happy with that

The first 5 picks are very even so I'm not sold.

Okay.

Whoever Freo deem the best of the leftovers of Cerra/Stephenson/Higgins/Coffield/Constable/Brayshaw.
What a tough decision, I like Coffield personally. Pure class in the backline for 10 years, allowing for Logue to move into the middle

We will still be below average next year as per the 4 yr plan, allowing us to get a gun KPF next year
