Identify & acquire.

No need to understand the needs and plans of players we don't rate at all.

If Polec sucks, as others have been arguing here, target someone else. If we like Polec but it turns out to be too expensive then move on to Target #2. Same for Gibbs.
But we have targeted and acquired players
JJ Lynch Hampton Seedsman and Menzel for starters

2 of those get a game in nearly every side

Would have Luke Dunstan in a heart beat. But I don't think a second rounder would get it done I'm afraid. I'm thinking it would have to be atleast a first rounder.
Reckon a 2nd rounder could get that done , not sure he makes us better . Not much room for improvement . Came into the system a man child and not much upside

Steele would have been a good one , Hopper the next guy that could be a good one

Nah Sanders said NEAFL form is no good and didn't rate him even when Jack was absolutely dominating at that level ......this is the bloke that actually rates Tyrone Vickery.....

Would love Hopper. Would require our first though for sure. Would trade Gov's equivalent value for him no sweat

Rated Steele highly as that big bodied mid/fwd, but unfortunately the Victorian club factor has a big say in where most GWS players are squeezed out...

Depends if he wants to be one of the main men in a good possibly great side

We have done some very good work I agree. Especially with lowish value trades and spotting under-utilised talent at other clubs

Not sure it's the"Victorian" club factor as much as the "go home" to Victoria factor for the majority of them apart from a few exceptions. Steele was of course from the ACT.

Not sure what's going on with Broomhead. Has looked decent this year, but the Pies drop him for Wells anytime he's ready to play.

Not sure if he's a huge need though. Would fall into that Knight/Menzel/Greenwood role, not sure if that's an area to focus on. Think we need a genuine midfielder, not another half forward who might be able to rotate into the middle.
Is Zaharakis a 'half-forward' or genuine mid? I'm not really sure at the moment.

Gibbs is still my #1 preference.

Yes to Hopper. Arguably would be an upgrade on Gov if we are being unbiased. Could we have both though please ;)

We're not getting Hopper.
Lukas Webb out of favour at the Dogs with their stacked midfield, played some decent AFL footy when given the chance and the few times I've seen his VFL games he's always been good, big bodied mid/forward with talent and a late 2nd or 3rd would easily get it done I reckon, maybe even less if he's looking for more opportunity.?

Who would he push out of our best 22?

Would we do Freos first for Gov and McCartin for Freos first?

Saints may be getting nervous about this pick now and if Freos first is around 6-8 then it may be worth taking the loss amd going again.

Jeez, with Roo going soon, can they afford to shift out PaddyMac?

LOL. Give you a hint Moo
Think we should stop using Mackay as a reason to draft somebody. He is already out of best 22 when everybody is fit. We should be looking to recruit players that might be in our top 10 and then if they slip down they would still be best 22. If we recruit somebody to replace Mackay and he slips he is worth nothing.

Very surprised he hasn't yet got a game this year. Would be a good one to chase.

Like your suggestion of Bailey Williams, too. His game against the Tigers last week was very good.

They can if he is not the player they thought he was going to be. He has a difficult to manage medical condition (type 1 diabetes i think), concussion history / poor technique that risks concussion. He hasnt come along quickly but that shouldn't be too much of a concern given his position.

We need a ready made mid for good depth as well as a classy mid if we can magically procure one because unless Gore turns around his disappointing output since joining us he's likely delisted, Wigg doesn't seem to be really in heavy consideration by the coaches so he's every chance to be moved on as well, Thommo's done.

Gallucci personally I don't see as a mid, more a Wing/HFF/HBF type, Poholke could be the answer but probably a year or two away...Greenwood looks the goods in the SANFL, if he can transfer that into the AFL he is likely the answer to our prayers.

Is he? The only players missing from our best 22 last week were Milera, Gov, and Cheney. They replace Knight, Otten, and Kelly. Seedsman doesn't displace Mackay either.

Reckon Gallucci could play Mackay's role, and play it a lot better than Mackay himself can. Has more tricks.
