Hahahahaha, that's cute.

Seriously though no offence intended mate, just seems you guys are keen on Burton and it's obvious that Lever is on the way out.

We'll see how they both go for the remainder of the season to make a fair judgement and by no means was this saying that I'm keen on Burton being traded because the kid is a bloody freak.

Anyways all the best guys!

Where did you get the idea we are keen on Burton? Now if we were talking Dusty Martin ...

At the moment, a trade of Burton for Lever is a complete non starter. The only way we would be even talking about a trade for Lever is if he flat out refuses to sign an extension. I suspect that he will though. It would be a similar story for Burton. However to suggest Burton has shown as much as Lever is ridiculous.

If Lever did refuse to extend then ending up with Burton wouldnt be the worst thing. But I think if Lever is a card on the table we should be aiming much higher.

If Lever did extend whereas Burton refused to extend and requested a trade home (unlikely) he might only be worth a late first rounder because there are only 2 clubs to deal with. But if Burton went chasing dollars and was open to a move anywhere, then his trade value would be much higher than a late first.

If Schache left Brisbane could we perhaps encourage Jenkins to revisit the Lions option leaving us with the salary cap and trade chips to keep McGovern plus bring in a handy midfielder?
From what people are saying, Schache doesn't want to leave Brisvane, but has his manager in his ear constantly telling him to hold out for more money and take the best deal available. Sounds like he's got his eyes on his commission and not what's best for Schache.

I see where you're coming from, don't say I agree but definitely see your point.

I would like to once again point out though that Jake Lever will be uncontracted while Ryan Burton will still have a year to run on his existing contract.

I'm not sure if you guys have actually been paying any attention to Burton so far but the kid is honestly a jet and has the potential to be anything.

I have been following Lever closely because he's a Romsey boy and I spent a few years living in a neighbouring country town and watched him play before he was drafted.

If they were both contracted I would still rate Burton to be worth marginally more, however that is by no means calling Lever a slouch because he is far from it.

This could be a solid solution to you guys losing another gun player going back to his home state, you send him home instead and in exchange gain a gun SA kid that would instantly make your side better.

Anyway it most likely wouldn't happen but it wouldn't be the silliest trade in the world.

If I remember correctly Schache said before the draft that he wanted to play or Brisbane because his father did. If he's as good as he's supposed to be then he'll easily be offered a sizable contract money wise if he sticks it out with the lions, depends on whether he is willing to back himself in and stay with them or do a Tom Boyd and head to a Victorian club on a contract he is nowhere near worth atm.

He did and that apparently hasn't changed, but i'm not sure what the Lions are offering him while you hear offers of $700K+ coming from Victorian teams. As you say, depends if he wants to stay and earn the cash from the Lions, or immediately take the money from Carlton or Collingwood.

From several people right here champ :)
Mate, if we were interested in Burton we would have drafted him 18 months ago, instead of taking two guys, including a virtual unknown instead of him. We were well aware of his talents then.

Lever won't leave, he wants to play in a flag. Looking at your list, that's not going to happen in his footballing lifetime at Hawthorn.

Soft spot for Brisbane
Hate to burst your bubble mate but we offered him another years extention at around this time last year so that he was able to focus on getting his body right without the added pressure of him feeling as though he'd already wasted a whole season of his initial two year contract:
http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/2016-04-19/burton-signs-oneyear-extension
Also he was touted as a definate top five slection and possible first selection overall before the his injury. While he was drafted as a forward is has been serving his apprenticeship in the backline where he is not just holding his own in this area but exceeding our greatest expectations, with his round two performance against Adelaide where he racked up 26 disposals while also marking Taylor Walker and doing a darn good job:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-11-...t-the-exciting-and-crafty-forward-ryan-burton
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-04/burton-keen-to-help-lead-the-hawks-new-guard

He is also best mates with Ben Jarman and if you look at certain aspects of his game like his kicking style/ability it's clear as day that he's been taught well by Darren Jarman:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...s/news-story/c4750a3619530b62c0125bdc4a969621

But not only does he have all the makings to become elite at either end of the ground, he wants to eventually step up and play in the midfield and while yes, it's definately a big call, given his all of his traights he could end up being the next Nat Fyfe or Marcus Bontempelli and we got him for a steal in the draft.
This kid is very highly regarded at the club, so much so that he has inherited the famous number five guernsey and he is definetely the best young talent we've drafted since Jarryd Roughead and Lance Franklin, but to be enitrely honest he may end up becoming better than the pair of them.
I would have said at the end of last season that there was no chance that the club would consider trading him and given his performances this season many would say that any remote chance of that happening would have further diminished however given our clubs current situation it may be possible that if Jake Lever and Adelaide 2017 Second Round Selection was on the table it could be enough to get the deal done.

Also before you go screaming bloody murder on this try and look at this from a neutral perspective and you'll clearly see that Ryan Burton has shown more than Jake Lever has so far in their careers and he also by far has the most upside.

Take of it what you will and good luck for the rest of season.
Look, fair enough that you like your young bloke.

Those recruiters who actually watched him since he was 14 chose Doedee instead, but that could certainly be wrong.

But don't throw that garbage that he's better than Lever. That is ******* ridiculous.

Burton has looked good getting some uncontested marks in defense. He's had maybe six good games. I'm still not sure what his position will truly be because third talls aren't that valuable, but maybe he becomes a Tom Lynch type, if you're truly lucky.

Will agree we should have drafted burton with the pick we had before you instead of Doedee but that's water under the bridge now

Burton isn't best mates with Ben but he did have D Jars coach him for a year in his very very early juniors at PHOS but lots of kids had D Jars or Chocco coach them in the area as they had kids around the same age.

The only reason I mention Burton is he may want to come home who knows D Jarman did M Robran did and Gunston did, so it's not a silly suggestion

He would obviously have gone up in value from the pick 19 you used to get him where some players go down in value. Do you think you would accept Doedee and Galluci being two first rounders

Burton has been standing the number 1 forward and still getting 20 possessions, they are using Gibson as more the third tall. The kid is a freak always was going to be

No he hasn't. Frawley has been standing the #1 forward, supported by Birchall, Stratton and Gibson. Burton has been playing a combination of the Jake Kelly role on medium/tall targets, and the Brodie Smith rebounding role.

No they haven't.

They've been using Gibson as a body stricken by rigor mortis to occasionally get the ball and mostly get caught holding it.

They've been using Frawley, Stratten and occasionally Kaiden Brand as key tall defenders.

They've been using Burton as a third tall defender who gets uncontested ball in the backline - which is a very important position in the Hawthorn system.

Sorry for the intrusion just found it funny that that Hawks dude was going around to a lot of boards posting stupid trade ideas. His one for us was Tucker and Balic for Stratton and Stewart. To be honest I think the one he floated on here was even worse
