The Cap is getting a massive boost and maybe we have in fact been been hording Tippett and Danger money.
Not meaning to bring these BF threads to their inevitable subject, but would be in our interests to payout a certain $400k deal this year to free up space next year?

For arguments sake.. because I find trade period fantasy so fun.

Andy Otten to Collingwood for 3rd rounder compo
Our first and 2018 2nd and Douglas for Josh Kelly.
2018 first and Mackay for Gibbs.
Use our 3rd rounders times 2 to get Edwards FS.
Upgrade Keath and Greenwood, retire Thompson.

Out: Thompson, Mackay, Otten, Douglas, Gore.. but who will be our whipping boy now?
In: Kelly, Gibbs, Greenwood, Keath, Edwards, Beech

Likely team and depth..

Luke Brown ~ Kyle Hartigan ~ Jake Lever
Rory Laird ~ Daniel Talia ~ Bryce Gibbs
Brodie Smith ~ Rory Sloane ~ Josh Kelly
Tom Lynch ~ Taylor Walker ~ Charlie Cameron
Eddie Betts ~ Josh Jenkins ~ Mitch McGovern
Sam Jacobs ~ Matt Crouch ~ Brad Crouch
Wayne Milera ~ Tom Doedee ~ Rory Atkins ~ Riley Knight

Galluci, Cheney, Menzel, Obrien, Greenwood, Hampton, Seedsman, Keath, CEY, Wigg, Poholke, Dear
Don't think Douglas is gonna put himself up for trade personally, but if it's to a decent team he might decide to go.

We'd need some brown paper bags to nab Kelly and Gibbs

I'm not even know where to begin with this news....(if it's true)

Firstly, yay!

Second, as good he will be... am I the only one who thinks Kelly isn't really the type of mid we need to be chasing hard?
Kelly is a gun & will only get better.

Would be the best midfielder to leave GWS.

Just finished dinner and what a riveting conversation with a friend of a player manager whos info in the past has been pretty solid.
Lever fielding alot of interest from vic clubs. Using it as leveridge in his new deal with adelaide. Doesnt want to leave. Unless we completely low ball him or he gets a 5 year million doallar a year deal hes staying.

Mcgovern is staying. Wants to repay the club.

Josh Kelly is weighing up his options between north and adelaide. Gws cant match the huge offers. Apparently our deal to him is massive and larger than anybody in our team has atm. Close to a million dollars a year and in the vicinity of 7 years.

Otten is fielding interest from collingwood. But is likely to stay a crow.
Jesus lord, was having a quiet red and came across this. Pretty much polished off the bottle before reading the end of this post.

Might need to crack open another red.

So judging by some of the inside info we've had here in the past, Lever and McGovern are gone, Kelly is zero chance to come to Adelaide, and Otten will definitely leave for Collingwood.

Jokes aside, if Kelly was truly headed here, I wonder who is making way for his salary and required picks. He's the best player at GWS, one of the best in the league, and he'll cost a bloody fortune. (And I did say we should go hard at him last year ;) )

It would be good to know if it really is standard practice for ALL players to have a clause in their contract that gives them a % bump in their salary in the event that the TPP is raised. If its only a small number of players (or none at all) then our salary cap should have plenty of room. Does anyone know how much Thommo is getting this season. I thought I read that it was reasonably low, but his salary would be gone as well. You would think we would also delist Gore and CEY. Douglas and Mackay would be on big salaries and if we had to find a home for them I think we could do that for a junk pick. Maybe an actual pick of value for Douglas.

As for who would make way, that is going to be much tougher. GWS will at least want our first pick plus probably another later pick. If they played hardball we could give potentially them next years first as well. If we were looking to put players on the trade table I would imagine we would be willing to part with Wigg and/or Dear. I think we would also offer up Jake Kelly if any club valued him enough, but we should try to hold on to him. You would also consider trading Seedsman or Cheney if it was needed to get the Josh Kelly deal done.

I've said previously Shooter will stay, he has a very strong bond with Pyley

Wow the Josh Kelly info is interesting, Kelly to
Adelaide opens up our premiership window for a good portion of his 7 year contract, I wonder what value Kelly puts on the opportunity to win a flag
add the choice to playing in front of 45-50 thousand at home games or the paltry attendance at north games. Tell him to have a chat with Eddie about playing at AO.

Hmmm... wasn't Josh Kelly a North supporter growing up? Might count against us, if the rumour is true.

Gotta be in it to win it I suppose.

Where has all Josh Kelly talk come from?
I haven't even heard a whisper of Adelaide being in the running. St.Kilda and North are the ones being thrown up. 2017 and 2018 1st round picks would be the starting point. It would take more then 2 picks in the 14-18 range surely.

For argument sake what would we offer for Kelly. I assume our first will not be enough. Treloar went for 2 first rounders I believe it would take at least that, possibly more if our picks are mid-late teens

Josh Kelly will be better than Sloane in one or two years.
Josh Kelly is 22 years old and already just about better than Dylan Shiel, a standout in a team of standouts, there's a reason pretty much the entire league will have inquired. He would easily be the best player GWS has lost, should he leave.

And everyone wants some of it. If it were just extra cap space GWS would make a similar offer

Obviously our record of closing deals for big fish is terrible, but let's assume he does the sensible thing and laughs at North

Cap space will be easy because we will need to trade serious assets to get the deal done

Himmelberg Jnr
First
JJ (cap space?)
Still not nearly enough & with J Cameron / Lobby they don't need JJ

What do they need? That we have?

Key defenders? Hartigan just signed.

Ruck? We don't have

Mids? We don't have and they do?

Forward pocket to replace Stevie J?
Charles?

Maybe Charles, Himmelberg + 1st&2nd?

Too many to reply to but yeh im excited too. Hopefully everything falls into place and we grab a star aswell as holding onto our young talent.
The north offer to kelly is huge. If he chooses us it will be massive.
9 years at 9 million or something I read.
Crazy money.. but the club aren't in the window and won't be in the window for awhile... shocking young list.

Can't believe a team like Carlton wouldn't offer Kelly more$$? You'd think SOS would be all up in this trade.

Kelly would cost us 2x top 10 picks.
Where do we get these picks from? However if he nominates us.. he's ours regardless..
