Apart from the obvious, I don't see any similarities between Cameron and Betts. Cameron doesn't have his goal kicking, marking, freakish nature.

Yes Cameron gets goals but from using speed and space.

I think BJ is more likely to replace Betts than Cameron, as he's a way off yet.
You're missing what both their primary minimum roles are ( and it's very important in modern day footy )

Cmon think harder

Some of you guys need to go back to school

Every team needs 1-2 players whose number 1 role is to apply pressure . Ok goals and possessions are handy too but main thing holding Giants back from being unbeatable is F50 pressure

Once they get that right I can't see them losing it at full strength ( they might be too good anyway)

Richmond despite being rubbish are a whole lot less rubbish and in games for far longer this year on back of forward half pressure as an example

You're forgetting we beat them by 65 points - they aren't the Harlem Globetrotters . They have weaknesses

It's documented that their forward half pressure especially I50 is poor

Cameron makes them much better in that regard . They also have luxury of playing him forward only and he can focus on his pressure because that's what they mainly need
Let's not get too carried away with round 1 results and early season form

They don't have too many weaknesses on their list

Betts primary role is to kick goals. I know you're talking about defensive pressure but Betts role and importance is a bit bigger than that.

He's the guy who the other defenders sweat over because you give him an inch and he'll score a goal.

He's also a dead eye from a set shot.

Cameron does neither.

Respectfully disagree
The goals come on back of his pressure and he creates more his pressure for others than he kicks by himself

The forward line is missing Govs pressure to the extent that we have had to take Cameron out of mid to supply that pressure

Don't underestimate the need for forward pressure

It's about the only thing GWS are average at

As Betts also said, with teams throwing extra numbers behind the ball, leaving him forward also helps to elevate that pressure a bit so it's not 7-8 on 5.

Exactly as coaches aren't stupid and they can see an advantage to be gained when we go in with tex JJ and Otto in same forward line with no Cameron or Gov

With the depth of midfielders they've got and will have going forward, those guys will and have played forward and be better options than Cameron.
I disagree, Taranto has proven beyond a shadow of doubt he is an A+Grade midfielder and that will be his prime position, Will Setterfield is a gun inside midfielder and has rarely played elsewhere.......and both are only ordinary pace wise. As "defensive" forwards Cameron has them easily covered. They would have been pissed when the GCS swooped on Ben Ainsworth so early or he would have been a Sun. In all likelihood they'll lose a couple of mids again this trade period too.

Yes. I agree woth you 100% that R1 doesnt count for much. Particularly due to the hot conditions.

At the moment we know GWS are pretty much a team of champions. But they have far from proven that they will be a champion team.
