I believe he is, and he's from the Apple Isle, and he's had issues with successive coaches because of an inconsistent work rate, great offensively, ordinary defensively seems to be the main knock.

Edit : 2018
he makes Luke Jericho look like Luke Hodge. soft, one way runner who sulks

but is an absolute jet when on, pure silk.

someone might make a superstar out of him, we're not the kind of club to try though

Tim O'Brien's contracted only till the end of this season, if Gov leaves he's the one you try to get back. It also would provide a nice sense of fulfilment for the club as it would in a way also fully complete the cycle of Tippett-gate.

Two players of interest in this game...

State league affiliate: GWS Giants (NEAFL)
This weekend: Gold Coast v GWS Giants - Saturday, July 29, 3.45pm, Metricon Stadium

Veteran recruit Brett Deledio remains on track to make his long-awaited Giants debut after emerging unscathed in his second game back from repeated calf issues.

The 30-year-old played out the full match and was moved to half-back in the second half, ending with 25 possessions, eight marks and two tackles in the 31-point loss.

In a further positive, young midfielder Jacob Hopper returned from an ankle injury he sustained at training last month and collected 22 touches.

The 20-year-old, who had been sidelined since the round six loss to St Kilda when he needed finger surgery, was rested in the last term.

Midfielder Daniel Lloyd gathered a team-high 31 disposals, seven tackles and six marks, while young defender Harry Himmelberg (24 disposals) played a key role in his second game back from a finger injury.

Backman Tim Mohr (12 disposals) didn't feature in the latter part of the game, and his status remains unclear.

Is that the Glenelg guy we were all fapping over years ago?
He's the kid most on BF expected the AFC to pick in the mini-draft. We selected Brad Crouch instead. One example of the club knowing far, far, more than the BF intelligentsia.

I thought it was a pretty 50-50 split between Kennedy and Toumpas, either way, the Crows got it right. The more questionable one was Crouch over Wines, although at the time Wines wasn't such a strong prospect. I think Crouch is the better player, trouble is his body keeps letting him down.

I don't think Menzel is a very good replacement for McGovern. We need a contested mark like O'Brien whose sadly now established himself at the Hawks.
Menzel's not even an upgrade on Jared Petrenko, and you all know how highly I rated him as a small forward.

Just a thought regarding Darcy Fogarty. His form was pretty average at the championships so his prospects have dropped. Knightmare in his phantom draft had him at 11 just recently and now with season ending knee surgery maybe that gives us a chance to select him at 14-17 with our first? What do people think of him does he have the tools to go in the midfield also?

Fogarty as a mid is a long shot now IMO

If we lose McGovern and Lever, keep everyone else worth keeping, and get Rockliff (fa), Gibbs (our first) and Fogarty (with either or both of the mcg and lever traded picks) are we better, or worse next year?
In the short term were are better off and in the long term we are significantly worse off

Didn't he try to come back in the dying moments of the trade period last year and we showed 0 interest?

well Cleric was adamant that he was a can't miss, top of the draft gun and wanted to bet big money on it.
but then he went quiet, and that was before DF's mediocre championships.
