Here's another one:

Cameron → Brisbane = Pick 12

Pick 16 → Essendon = Francis + Pick 24

Pick 10 + 12 + 24 → North Melbourne = 2018 1st + Pick 23

Pick 23 + Atkins = Gibbs

Go to the draft this year with a third round pick.

IN: Gibbs, Francis, 2018 1st (NM), 2018 1st (Melb), 2018 4th
OUT: Lever, Cameron, Pick 16, Pick 35, 2018 3rd

IN: Gibbs, Francis, Pick 54, Greenwood, Keath
OUT: Lever, Cameron, Thompson, Menzel, Gore
Like the picks for next year. Not sold on francis yet, would use 16 in the draft on a mid with speed ready to play round 1. They are out there.

2017 Moves

Douglas and wigg for gibbs would be a fair swap. Like for like. Both get to go home.

Can't see us trading Atkins. It would be another player gone from the GF side on top of Cameron and Lever. And the fact he's contracted makes it a sour trade. Wouldn't be a good look imo.

I care about making the team better as that is the best look of all. Atkins imo would be better off in a team such as the swans that needs some flair and is more accepting of his downhill skiing ways due to the grunt they already have. Could be a win win trade. Alir Alir has got potential.

Gibbs is only 28 though. Didn't Ablett just win a b and f at 34 and Geelong still think they are going to get something out of him. Think we should expect 3 years of his prime to be honest.
He'll be 29 before the start of next season.

How is Ablett relevant? Dustin Fletcher played until he was 38 or 39. They're the 0.1% outliers. Trading on the assumption that Gibbs will be one of the 0.1% is foolish in the extreme.

Bank on him having 2 good seasons and value him accordingly. Anything we get above that is a bonus.

Yes, but it depends on your body type and gamestyle ......Roo & Danger didn't / won't have long careers into their 30's ......Gibbs has been relatively injury free & should be ok another 4 years .......yet a Sam Shaw got injured putting his boots on
Deledio was injury free to the same age. Look how he turned out for GWS.

He might stay injury free and play another 150 games. He might do his knee in pre-season training and never play a game for us.

2 years is a reasonable assumption for a player of his age. Anything more is a bonus.

Put down the PlayStation controller and back away from the television. It's affecting your perception of reality, and not in a good way.

This season did we have +1 on minimum senior list? We already have four out the door and Cameron would make 5. If we make two live selections and then promote Hugh's and Keath is that the AFL criteria met? I'm unsure on the +1 but from memory Davis put us in that position. IMO if we were to go to the draft with 1 first we would definitely want that next to be early second instead of #54. I think we may need to bring in Francis from a list size prospective...

Pretty much.;)

Atkins can be frustrating at times but his good this year far, far outweighed his bad.
He's one of the few attacking playmakers we have that can make things happen, whilst he can f*** up at times some of what he pulls off at times is sublime. It could be argued he's just coming into his prime after taking several years to get his head around what's required at AFL level and IMO now is not the time to cash in our chips.
I agree. We're one season off the point we have to decide whether to persist with Atkins or get what we can.

This is the make or break season for the rat, showed some promising signs and with Smith going down, he becomes the best outside midfielder in our lineup. Time to see if he can take the opportunity with both hands.

if we are getting Gibbs do you think it will be announced we are trading for him early in the week or will we all be sitting Thursday morning still waiting?

I am a little nervous
I think we'll be looking to get the Gibbs deal done in the first two days. First priority, and better to get that sorted before the Cameron deal, as Carlton will want pick 12 if we get that for Cameron.

Then Wednesday see if we can work a fair deal for Francis. Not a priority, but this can be a stand alone pick swap so is an independent event that can be done quickly. Or not.

Then Thursday see if Brisbane improve their offer for Charlie. If not, we can keep him, don't have to do a deal at all. Leave it to the last day.

Big 4 days for Reidy he. Weds to bring in a couple of best 22 players
In saying that, I don't want him to panic. We have great recruitment and development so heading to the draft wouldn't be so bad.

Francis would be good at the right price. Hopefully he does a Tom Lynch once he gets into a better system.

IMO trading out Charlie is important, we don't want players who don't want to be here

Take 18 and run

Up early this morning on Hobarts water's edge, caught a few, watched the sun come up, breathe in some of the cleanest air in the world... Now having a delicious flat white, and listening to trade radio.

Apparently Power should be favourites for the flag after this trade period... Adelaide have had a terror period - gone backwards and will be the biggest losers.

So I've had some exercise, fresh air, coffee and a great laugh

It would be so bad as our development isn’t so good that we can shave 2 or 3 years off their maturity

In truth we tend to take our time and not rush

So yes, it would be so bad
