No idea, still rookies. Greenwood and Keith could easily play 150 games each for this club though and we blooded them this year.
Generally we blood rookies well, I would have loved to see Doedee get some games though.
Both 25 and Beech 27 so I can only see Greenwood getting to 150. Much prefer we put the development into a player who can get to 200

I like the way Sydney have done it by having 2 or 3 rookies in their team as well great experience. Heeney, Mills, Aliir, Florent, Hayward all top round picks like we have. Istead, we play Otten, McKay, Beech, Keith when we could have played Gauc et al
if we had a academy that produce players that were worthy of a top 3 draft pick like henney and mills their would play every week.
Florent play 9 games 4 of them when Sydney had all their injuries-board would accuse Don of going back to Senior players
Aliir only play 3 games this year compared to 13 last year- Board would question why have coaches slow his development with less games this year

so not really a good example.

Just looked at the trade 'winners and losers' article from last year. Of The 6 clubs with an A rating, only 2 made the 8?(GWS and West Coast). Means f all
The “winners” are generally the clubs that trade draft picks for players and the losers vice versa.

It’s like they completely ignore the fact that you can actually get good players via the draft.

Ok "Out of town Crow", you gave me a slight troll earlier about my negativity ;) kudos. To be truthful I probably haven't posted anything positive since the GF, but seriously what do 'think' will be the outcome
for the Crows come Thursday arvo.
Here's what I think will happen.
No Gibbs; price will be too high again and we'll say no.
No Francis. Essendon will ask too much and we'll say no.
Cameron, I'm not sure but I suspect we'll settle for 18/19, but it wouldn't surprise me if we said no, kept him and he played like crap next year then we lose him anyway for far less. We'll take those picks to the draft and come out with the
"Organic growth" line again. I hope I'm wrong but to quote every Star Wars film "I've got a bad feeling about this."
Look, your predictions may well be the "best" outcome. If we can't get suitable trades, having tried, then that's all we can do. Then, we head off to the draft. You don't really want us to be soft and overpay all the time, just to be seen to be "doing something", do you? Having said that, I'm hoping that we can strike a reasonable "risk" deal for Francis, if possible.

Richmond did well last year with Caddy, Prestia and Nankervis.

Traded to compliment and improve what they already had and got the results during the season.

You don't "win" Trade Week in October.......

What's been wrong with our trading?

Got extra value for Dangerfield, rolled the dice on Menzel. Lever deal an absolute home run.

I'm fine with all that.
Got reamed on Danger but that was a typical Noble roll over. I think the Menzel trade was a very worthwhile punt but we probably overpaid a little for Seed and Hampton.

I'm happy to wait until the end of the draft before I start criticising anyone for what we have / have not done ... but I can say this:
  • I hope we over-pay for a player.
  • I hope we over-pay for two players.
  • I hope we use up multiple 2017 first round picks in trades.
  • I do not want to get to Thursday arvo and be back here saying, Alwaysacrow that bad feeling you had was spot on !!
My hopes and dreams? Well here is the perfect scenario for me based on current possible ins / outs:
  • Charlie Cameron - gone, attitude has been toxic since deciding to leave
  • Bryce Gibbs - yes, overpay for 2 years of quality
  • Josh Schache - yes, overpay for big upside
  • Trent McKenzie - yes, cheap with upside
  • Aaron Francis - no, risk too big for price
I'd love the chat about Ben Cunnington to have some meat on the bone, but it appears to be pure scuttlebutt.
If we are talking ridiculous stuff, then McGovern Snr is the obvious one that would warrant a huge trade.
I give it about a 1% chance that Adelaide have been secretly setting up a deal(s) with someone we haven't heard about yet.

Seriously is this a professional sport ? .....these guys are getting $500K + a season .....i think the whole industry is getting sick of this amateur stuff .......gee half of youths are traveling the world & i doubt missing mum ?
They wanna go home? Fine. They quit AFL and get a real job on $35-50k. Let’s see how ******* homesick they really are.

If we play a cringeworthy song, I'll almost stop going.
I would stop going or get there s few minutes after it maybe.

I don't know many Port fans (it's a bit of a rule I have), but the ones I do know all think it's cringeworthy too. They all refuse to do the scarf shit as well. They are a but older so maybe it's the younger ones that don't get embarrassed by that sort of crap.

The next CBA will include a condition that Mums and Dads are allowed back on the oval during quarter and three quarter time breaks

So I expect the media will come out and slam the hell out of Motlop and his assumptions for saying he's going to Port because he wants to win a premiership.
Like they did to Walker for simply uttering the word success, not even premierships.

Nice slap in the face for Geelong too, seeya guys, you can't do it and I'm outta here.
Motlop obviously hasn't been paying attention to the fact Port haven't beaten a top 8 team in about 2 years.
I want media outrage. Jenkins, Walker.

To his credit Don at least got quite a few games into Milera as a rookie and also this year, but yeah, in general it just seems to be the way the club has run things since the Ayres days.

It seems an eternity since Riccuito started as a pimply 17 year old in 1993 and was never left out of the side apart from injury, or Goodwin who as a rookie who played maybe 8 games before the 1997 Grand Final. For some reason we don't seem to be as willing to back the first year players like that, or at least like some other teams do now.
Interesting that you mention those 2. The one who always stood out to me playing as a 17 year old was Ben Hart. Might have had something to do with the fact that he looked even younger than that, but he cracked in like a seasoned player.

This is another example of pointed anti-Crows headline writing. If you actually read the full text of what he said, while he mentioned success, it was more than clear that his main reason was "family". He also mentioned something else that we should be worried about, i.e., that Port are very good (implicitly better than us) at making mature recruits successful.
I would hope that we have been better with draftees. We have had fewer trades, but surely, we have been pretty good at making Sauce, Lynch, Betts, etc. successful as players? Yet, here we go again, there is an external perception that Port are better with mature recruits!

Furthermore, the "family" thing doesn't stand up to analysis. At Adelaide, he is just as close to family as he is at Port, save that he might be a few metres closer to marlon while he is working! ;)
