I have no problem with that.

Can we go back to where you started. You said that Rockliff isn't a forwards arsehole. A number of people don't agree with you. Some back ground info was provided to support that belief.
He isnt, not at AFL level.
Do you wanna go back to under 8s. He once played full back, so I guess he's a gun full back too?

Find me one AFL game where he's played permanent forward. Bet you cant.

This goes back to the FIFO conversation. Why not explore it? He has been in the program long enough to look after himself to some degree. He has support locally in Melbourne with List Management. Fly over once a week for main training. Travel for games. Home every other night.

Conversation came up a few weeks ago. A Sydney player quite a few years back used to fly in and out of Melbourne while playing for Sydney. Stuart Mayfield from memory (DABM)?
Maybe he and Crows can set up that Forward Base of Operations in Melbourne (address that Vic go-home factor) - everyone trains in Adel or Melb early part of week, meet up in later part of week depending on where we're playing. :)

Even going as a FA, we'd likely be able to get back a 1st round compensation, wouldn't we?

There's certainly some legs to the Sloane movement end of 2018. If you didn't notice Belinda's burgeoning TV career at the Brownlows then don't know what to tell you.

By then there's 1, maybe even 2 flags in the cabinet. A GF appearance at a minimum.

It will be an entirely different exit to any others imo. Together with Tex and DT, he will have held this PG together during the worst of times and pulled them up to where they are now.

Will be waved goodbye with a smile and will never cop boos at AO.
Except it's not really "burgeoning." She hosted it last year as well. That's why Sloane made the joke that once again she was dateless on the night because last year he wasn't there because he was ineligible

The thought of seeing Sloane in any other club's jumper just makes me want to vomit.

Why are we talking about having Sloane on a fly-in fly-out arrangement? If Belinda's media work requires her to be in Melbourne a bit, surely she can fly over there as needed then back? But honestly... he'll be 28 next year. 2 more seasons after that and he's 30 and probably starting to look at retirement anyway. So why not just stick it out for 2 more years? Surely the thought of the legacy you leave as a 1 club player (and a true legend of that club at that) is worth something?

If he does go as FA next year, assuming we're still somewhere up around the top 4 then the compensation will be sh*t. Better start saving that cap space to ensure we can match any FA agent offers and force a decent trade if it does come to that.

No one is denying that he hasn't been playing as a permanent forward.

You claimed he isn't a forwards arsehole. I don't agree with you. You have provided no info to support your claim. Perhaps you can clearly define what your definition of "a forwards arsehole" is? Because at the moment you just seem to jumping around trying to avoid explaining or owning your original claim.

Yep. Can't imagine any scenario where Rory get's booed by AFC fans.

Melbourne will still be there in 4 years when Sloane retires. Why can't she wait. Let her man fulfil his dreams, then he can take a back seat so she can start on hers?
In fairness to her, she's probably in her 'window' as much as he is in his right now.

Look times have moved on. This is just not a viable option in current age where it is such a professional and closely monitored environment. The days of player living in one city and playing in another over the weekend are long gone.

She is but lets be honest, the opportunities for her career are MUCH MUCH greater in Melbourne than they are here and those opportunities might not be there in 3-4 years time.

She is doing a lot of commuting between Adelaide and Melbourne as it is and as someone who does travel a fair bit due to work, I can tell you its a pain in the ass especially if you are doing it every week.
You're probably right. Would you be unhappy though if that happened to be the difference between him staying at the Crows or moving to another club?

Rockliff has played as a tagged and a permanent forward this season.

Played at full forward once and took James Frawley to town, the same Frawley who had shut down Pav, Roo and Buddy in 2010. He's such a strong bloke that his one on one ability is underrated, simply cannot put a smaller guy like Luke Brown or Rory Lauren on him because he could kick 3-4 quite easily.

Crows don't have a tagged either so Rockliff would be very useful in that sense.

For me it's a no brainer for the Crows. Replaces Douglas in the guts at the very least.

I wouldn't be unhappy but it just won't be an option if it ever gets to that. The game has become very professional where players are closely monitored on and off the field. They are encouraged to spend time together away from the footy club and even just building those relationships with players in the locker room would be impossible when he is barely around.

I'm not 100% sure as I don't watch a lot of Brisbane games (who would?) but I think he played as a permanent forward for the whole last month of this year's home and away season.

Uh what?
Rockliff isnt a forwards asshole sorry mate.
Hes a midfielder and that is all.
Nope - wrong. He is a great small forward, just been playing in the middle because he is at Brisbane.

Is Robbie Gray a forward that plays in the middle, or a midfielder that plays forward? For me, he is a natural forward ... Rockliff is in the same mould.

He played as a defensive forward and as a tagger (considering I watched 3 of their last 4 games), but certainly not a traditional small forward.

Well considering Frawley didnt play against Brisbane, and Rocky had 30 touches and 11 tackles (and only 1 goal), I would say he didnt play permanent forward.

When are you talking about?

Fair enough, but if he was playing as a defensive forward and he was kicking goals with a shoulder requiring a reconstruction, then I think you're being unnecessarily harsh by describing him as less than a forward's asshole.

Can guarantee if he was given a top class small defender, he would struggle to kick goals.
He is short, fairly slow and not that agile.

He works as an inside/hybrid mid, but at AFL level I cant see any team wasting him playing permanent forward.
The other reason Brisbane played him there is because they knew that he wouldnt be there in 2018 and they had a bunch of young kids they wanted to see in the midfield.

Not sure why people keep bringing up Rockliff. We have absolutely no interest in him as he is not the type of player we need.

Gibbs is our prime target and there is some real interest in Motlop from the club.
His name was brought up in the context of a move to Port, not us.

Have you got a sauce?
Or just speculating that we're interested?

Be that as it may, I still think it was an exaggeration to describe him as such. He's not that bad.
