When the game had finished and Talia was with the players on field he definitely did not have ice and he looked like he was walking as normal.

Don't know if ice was applied immediately after he went off though.

Not sure but i'm honestly not counting Talia out on not playing and think he'll get named tomorrow. Knight will likely miss one game and i think Jenkins will play

I cant see him playing Sunday then...

Geoffa, every player ices up after a game. It's standard prevention. Icing up during a game doesn't mean you will miss next week. It just means that you will not be playing any further in that game on that day.

Reckon you're right about Tails and Knight. However I think Jenkins will play, interesting decision for match committee seems to me to mean he has been given the all clear, just wether he comes straight back in, which I think he will.
I dunno, 'interesting decision' for me could mean two things:
a) he's fit and an automatic inclusion but, wow, Otten is just as good as him, how could we drop him?
b) he's sorta fit but we've gotta weigh up if he's fit enough to mess with a forward line that's been getting the job done.

I don't think a) is even a question and b) you'd go with the functioning forward line over a 50:50. If he's fit and, hey, we need Otten down back again, then surely it would be 'JJ's good to go.'

But...tea leave reading, right? We'll see.

Surely jenkins gets a run in the minors to get back in touch? I mean i know richmond is only a small step up from most sanfl teams but they are a step up

If JJ and Talia are both good to go, then that really does create an "interesting decision". I suspect it would come down to a decision between Otten & Menzel for the last slot in the forward line (i.e. McGovern's position).

If JJ is fit and Talia isn't, then JJ comes in and Otten shuffles to defence.
If Talia is fit and JJ isn't, then we use our current structure.
If neither are fit, then Otten probably plays in defence and Beech (maybe) comes into the forward line.
If both are fit, then Menzel will (hopefully) be playing in the SANFL.

Couldn't see him playing this year anyway, but when did Ben Davis become a "season" injury? That changed very quietly.

Edit: the afl injury list has him as season while the afc has him as indefinite...

That was announced a while ago.

He was added to the LTI list last month. They don't do that if the player is expected back anytime soon - LTI listing is for a minimum of 8 weeks.

It's the result of surgery, which was announced in the round two injury update:

Given our run of hamstring injuries I'm not optimistic Talia and Knight will play or the club will take that risk. I also don't think Jenkins will play either....just my take.

You couldn't drop Otten over Menzel if both JJ and Talia play. Otten has played above expectations and Menzel below expectations.

I wish it were that simple. I agree with you that Menzel has been poor - anyone describing his GC game as better than dismal needs to have a long hard look at themselves.

Having a 4-tall forward line works if it's JJ, Tex, Lynch and McGovern. I don't think it works as well with JJ, Tex, Lynch and Otten. Otten's lack of pace & agility just doesn't work as well, and upsets the balance of the forward line as a result.

Is it incredibly harsh to drop Otten, given his current form? Absolutely. Doubly so if the underperforming Menzel is allowed to remain in the team. Unfortunately, it could be a necessary decision due to team balance.

I'd be a whole lot happier if the change was JJ & Beech replacing Otten & Menzel. Unfortunately, I have very little faith in our selectors coming up with that bright idea.

Lol like Sloane in round 1?

nonsense from you as usual.

Sloane had the vast majority of a preseason under his belt and was hardly much behind the 8 ball from missing JLT games.

Jenkins has been on a very limited training and has missed 4 weeks of football.

Sloane also has a track record of coming in and performing after injury. Jenkins has a record of playing like a 6 year old girl if he has so much as stubbed his toe in the past month.

Sloane missed more footy than Jenkins has. Nonsense all from your end. Whats the pace of the game going to do to his ribs? :)

I don't think he's coming back in so it's kinda moot, but...IF Jenkins is fit to play, 4 weeks isn't enough for him to need a warm up in the twos IMO. Maybe if he was out for another month.

And this 'Jenkins can't play with the slightest suggestion of an injury' thing. Is this based on more than one game last year when he played (badly) with a dodgy ankle?

Not sure what people are thinking but there is no such thing as hurting your hamstring , missing rest of the game ( especially full game ) then playing the next week

Hamstrings don't work like that

Talia and Knight won't play and we are at least a 50% chance of suffering another hamstring during Sunday's game

To pick either Talia or Knight or both increases our chances of having a 1 man bench by 3/4 time

Won't happen

Re Jenkins - don't think he will play . He's not the type to send out there at less than 90% + fitness and it's unlikely he's at that level

Add into the fact that his conditioning is down due to the lay off where he could barely walk in week 1 and it's a massive long shot

And we don't need Otten in defence as they have Jack , a nobody tall in Elton and a bunch of mosquitoes + Dusty ( who Kelly will take )

Why drop Otten for a half baked Jenkins ??!!

Better to play Otten until JJ is banging down Pykey's office door
