Injury 2017 Injury Updates - 25/4/17

Armo has had an adductor tenotomy. Pretty rare surgery and this will annoy Saints head physio Andrew Wallis (a hip and groin specialist) as for the last decade we have averaged 1 game per season missed due to groins while the AFL average is around 11 I believe. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done, when it doesn't respond to physio they need to go in and snip the tendon. Opens the door for Koby.
He hasn't had it yet...tomorrow

Injury List 25/4/17

David Armitage (groin) 4 weeks
Koby Stevens (concussion) test
Josh Battle (bone bruising) 2 weeks
Nick Coughlan (foot stress fracture) available
Very happy to see Cogs get the all-clear. Foot stress injuries are never taken lightly.

17 games to go and I'd love to see him debut before the year's out. If he can string a solid run of matches for Sandy and showcase his best work he could get another contract. Reckon he'd be good defensive depth.

That statistic is quite irrelevant, you may have lost players for games but it's only relevant if they are best 22 and especially top players.

This year alone players who have missed for us include:
Riewoldt
Steven
Montagna
Armitage
Stevens
Weller

Add Hickey now as well, although he's arguably behind Longer now, but let's not start that again.

Armo possibly back in for surgery
ST KILDA midfielder David Armitage faces the possibility of further surgery after a setback in his recovery from a groin operation.

Armitage, 28, is still in some discomfort after having adductor release surgery in late April.

He will see a specialist in the next few days, after which his return date will become apparent.

There is the possibility he will need to go under the knife again.

However, the Saints are adamant there is no concern he will miss the rest of the season.

Armitage had a career-best year in 2015, but was hampered the following pre-season by a back complaint which hindered his running.

He played every game in 2016 and averaged 21.7 disposals, well down on the 28.4 he managed per match the year before.

The Saint played in round one against Melbourne and returned against Collingwood in round four but didn't pull up well, and had an operation soon afterwards.

St Kilda added to its pool of onballers at the end of last season by adding Jack Steele from Greater Western Sydney and Koby Stevens from the Western Bulldogs.

Minchington was walking around in a moon boot today at Etihad, must have injured himself in the VFL yesterday (assuming he played). Anyone know what happened?

After Acres was strapped up after an ankle injury and sent out resulting in missing a season in 2014, the saints medical team have done it again. Strapped Michington up after an ankle injury and sent hin out... out indefinitely. Why oh why for a VFL game!

Could have cottonwooled him up like McCartin...

We did that to Roberton too.

Paddy McCartin (concussion) 1-2 weeks
Darren Minchington (ankle) indefinite
David Armitage (groin) 4 weeks
Nick Coughlan (hamstring) 3-4 weeks
Ed Phillips (foot) available
Nathan Wright (shoulder) test
Hugh Goddard (foot) season

So Phillips is up and running. That's good news - his injury appeared a lot worse at first.

Unlucky for Cogs. Stress fractures and now a hammy. Not good timing on a 1 year rookie contract. :(
