It's actually a pretty good idea but I doubt clubs would be willing somehow.

A number of practice matches last season were one sided and mainly a practice match is to blow out the cobwebs and try out your gameplan to a point, however I don't see what you get out of a group of kids chasing tail all day when they can't get their hands on the ball.

All of them..........to a point.

Each game will have objectives to meet.
Each player will be asked to perform certain game/team aspects.

We currently have 46 players on the list with 4 of them being injured are won't play. (Byrne, Cripps, Gallucci, Phillips)
At this stage and at best guess, we have 42 players available and reckon we'll play about 36-38 of them, not rushing anyone.

You'd think that guys on the edge of selection, may play a couple of games; SPS, Cuningham & Fisher, in particular. Pickett also if he has the fitness.

I'm not sure they gave the game v the Bombers at PP much importance.

Yes, I'm sure there was some strategy in who was picked and how they played, but the contest was secondary.

I'm not complaining, just pointing out that as a spectacle, it was shite.

I feel we may go for a blend of youth and experience through this series, as should be the case.
You'd also think that we'd be keen on seeing several of the newbies earlier rather than later; Marchbank, SPS, Fisher and maybe LeBois.
We'll also likely pull a couple of 'interesting' positional changes/trials.

First weeks team may be something like:

Docherty Rowe Plowman
Pickett Marchbank Sheehan..................I'd be happy should we see something like this in our back-line.

Korchek ECurnow Murphy
Cuningham Gibbs Petrevski-Seton.........Some fresh speed, yet retaining experience.

Smedts Casboult Sumner
LeBois Jaksch Silvagni.........................I'd like this, giving some players an early chance to show-up

INT: Fisher Palmer Polson Lamb + +

Maybe a little short but it would be quick.....and fresh.
How many on the bench for JLT do we know?

Looking forward to them playing the dockers over here at Subi, can still be pretty warm at the time of the day in middle of Feb.

What's the squad size? 28, then down to 24 in the final round?

My tip for the first game:

FB: Marchbank Rowe Sheehan
HB: Docherty Weitering Williamson
C: Buckley Murphy SPS
HF: Thomas C.Curnow Wright
FF: Silvagni McKay Smedts

RR: Kreuzer Cripps Cuningham

Int: Gorringe, Casboult, Korcheck, A.Silvagni, Sumner, Pickett, Palmer, LeBois

Yeah, you finally get to see some footy after a long pre-season and then you look at the lineups and it is a bunch of kids playing a near full strength team.

I would like to see clubs confer before the the games, so that the teams playing are of similar strength and talent.
Example:
Game 1- made up of majority of rookies and new talent under 23 say 15-20 players and say 8-10 senior players
Game 2- made up of rookies and new 15-15 mix
Game 3- Best squad close to round 1

What I don't want to see is one team play kids and the other have a seasoned squad that smashes them, can't see that anyone wins out of those matches.
The main reason you won't see this is because teams are at different stages of their pre-season & within each club players are on different programs depending on age, off season surgeries, pre-season injuries etc.

Pretty sure the AFLW games are free entry Jimmae.
I think you have to get a JLT ticket for the women's games that are double heading with a JLT game. So free with a JLT ticket (or membership). Or free for the stand alone women's games.

Does anyone know if there are any Official Intra Club Games scheduled as yet?

Might be a bit early.

I believe our first pre-season game is on 25 Feb (?) though so that is not far away really, so I would imagine intra club games must be soon.

There's already been one (possibly two) closed match sims. I think we might get lucky and see maybe one in the next 10 days.

What I hope to see in the Pre Season games:

An attacking positive game style
Rowe as a Ruck/Fwd
Buckley as a running defender
McKay taking grabs and playing with confidence as a Key Forward
Cuningham Fisher Polson in the midfield
A settled defence with Marchbank Weitering Plowman Docherty Simpson as the regulars
Gorringe in the ruck playing with confidence
A bigger more confident Silvagni
Charlie Curnow fit and running loose forward & midfield
SPS & Cripps having a run in the last game and looking injury free
Very fit Sumner & Pickett
Lamb and/or Sheehan off HB
Macreadie Kerr & Williamson getting a taste of senior footy.
NO INJURIES

Not much really. ;)
