If anything it drastically increases O'Shea's chances of getting picked up.

Hope we do anyway - he's got AFL experience and looks like he's earned another shot.

He doesn't immediately. I think we'll look internally for the direct replacement - Williamson, Mullett and Byrne the most likely at this stage.
As a rookie he'd only be on a 1 year contract to provide some cover if necessary. What's the downside?
A list spot for someone that we're not inundated with.
We'll already have Rowe and ASilvagni as back-line leaders and then throw on Glass-McCasker and Macreadie......too heavy.

If youre looking to recruit oshea for a kpd role youre going to have a bad time. Hes at his best when he is a loose rebounder which is why he was so pivotal to our 2013/14 campaigns and stagnated with the team in 15/16.

Hes an athlete first then a footballer, under pressure his disposal is futile but he improved his body work, marking and spoiling at his time at port

Good bloke type of footballer many port fans would be glad if he got another shot

Edit: i highly doubt he is 197 more 193

these stats taken from foxsports site..

Nick Holman (Central Districts)

Age: 22

Position: Midfielder

2017 SANFL average numbers: Kicked 19 goals and averaged 26 disposals, 15 contested possessions, 7 score involvements, 7 inside 50s, 6 tackles and 127 Champion Data ranking points from 20 games.

THE nine-game player at Carlton has spent the past two seasons at Central Districts and thrived. With an impressive workrate, as well as strong tackling ability and intensity, Holman was named in the best 15 times this year and was ranked third in the competition for average disposals. Still has age on his side too, which might appeal to an AFL club.

Would there be any chance on getting Holman back, did really like this kid when he was on our list.

Bizarre then that he led the Northern Blues in rebound 50s this year. As well as disposals, effective kicks and handball receives...and recorded the most marks out of anyone at VFL level.
As did Simon White in the games he played. Doesn't make him a running HB at AFL level.

Would not be surprised if the “effective” kicks consisted of short kicks, kick backwards or switches, he has elitle endurance that allows for the handball recieves and rebound 50s stats. Finally to his credit he does indeed read the play well when he is not matched up on a mobile forward. Not knocking him just explaining the stats. He is a little better than average rebound flanker

But what O'Shea does provide is an experienced head down back who can fill the role if required. Did not know he's 197 now - thought he stood around the 192/193 mark - and can play a variety of roles whilst being most suited to rebounding out of the back half.

As a rookie he'd only be on a 1 year contract to provide some cover if necessary. What's the downside?
Since when is O'Shea 197cm?

193cm max.
I think someone's tried to type 194 on a keypad and mashed out 197 in the article. He's definitely in the 192-194 range.

So what's the story with McDaid?

Should we be hoping for a game or two late next year, or is he likely to need a few years in the VFL to learn the game?

And where is he likely to find himself on the ground - is he another rebounding half back or do his strengths lie elsewhere?

Next to no chance, but the Adelaide clubs may have a look.

Really though that Holman was worth hanging onto and certainly ahead of Gallucci, who we rookied for two years, but the purge was on...
