Thomas was resigned because the Club believes he has a role to play - pretty simple isn't it?

Regardless of the result each week Daisy will bounce into recovery and preparation for the next game with a smile, joke, energy and a positive attitude.

For a young team losing majority of games this is invaluable.

This might not be a popular thought but if it only takes Doc out to make us a bottom team at the end if the 66 game timeline given as some have chicken little'd it then we are still a pretty poor club.

For the record I don't think it is the case and think we can still move forward in all markers in 2018.

Herald Sun. 3.5 million.

Herald Sun. 2.5 million

Sam Edmund Herald Sun. 2.5 million.

Same paper. $1million discrepancy. Can't even agree with themselves..

Edit: Stuffed links up.

Short story. Jon Ralph pushes the 3.5 million agenda whilst others from the same paper - and good sources on here - have always stated it was 2.5million.

In the Herald Sun.....must be true.

Dale Thomas can't be blamed for accepting Carlton's $3.5 million offer ...

Mar 16, 2016 - DALE Thomas isn't to blame for the deal that will handicap Carlton's list management strategy until 2018. If someone offered you $3.5 million to ...
Not sure I'd be using Ralphy boy as a valued source. Has proven time and time again that he does next to no research and gets the simplest of points wrong. Was heavily reported at the time to be a 4 year deal at $2.5m with a trigger for a 5th. That's $625k.

Yeah, except one was written by Jon Ralph some 2.5 years after the fact and since then, every man and his dog has exaggerated the contract beyond recognition. Pretty safe to say that Ralph is off the mark.

Couldnt agree more Docherty is a fine player but if we are going to get anywhere in the oncoming years his injury will just be a blip on the radar going forward . Doomsdayers are clearly disregarding any improvement from our bevy of fine youngsters . The additions of Kennedy Lang and Mullett . Another year into our fine young coach as well as the recent coaching additions . Unless there is further major injuries to the likes of Cripps Murphy etc we should be able to adequately cover for the loss of Docherty . :thumbsu:

We will cover him and it's an opportunity for someone to step up, but we are better with Docherty in our side. It is what it is

Apologies if this has been covered earlier in the thread, but could someone please explain where our list stands in regards to rookies? I know we only cut Sheehan from last year, so will one (ASOS?) need to be upgraded to the senior list to create more room? Could we hypothetically have spots for all 3 who are currently training with us (Boek, Shaw, O’Shea) or not?

As the list stands atm, we have 3 rookies - ASOS, JGM & Lebois.

No International rookies.

Pretty sure there has been a rule change where Cat A rookies are now available for selection from round 1.

Also not too sure on what split the Club will take for the Snr/Rookie list in the upcoming Draft/PSD.

Thanks One more thing I’m confused on though - our primary list for 2017 was 40. We’ve cut 12 of those and will add 8 (Kennedy, Lobbe, Lang, Mullett + 4 ND picks). Does this mean we have to draft a minimum of 2 more in the PSD to fill our primary list? I thought the minimum was 38, but I could be wrong. Again, apologies if this has been covered or if these are stupid questions!

Obviously we will use Pick 3, 10 & 30 in the National Draft. Whether we use another pick after this remains to be seen, but with the change of rules in relation to rookie listed players, unless you have your eye on a specific player late in the ND, you are better off topping up your rookie list.

Good thing is the PSD & Rookie Draft will be held the Monday after the ND therefore we won't have to wait too long to find out the fate of the likes of Shaw (everyone's favorite Gold Coast Sun delistee), O'Shea & Boeky.

Unless I’m missing something wouldn’t only taking 3 players in the ND leave us with a senior list of only 35? Is there not a minimum to how many you must have on your senior list any more?

We have 34 on primary list right now.
Also 3 on rookie list of A Silvagni, LeBois and Glass-McCasker
Also sounding like an International Rookie from Ireland too.

4 picks in National Draft takes us to 38 on primary list.
After that it just cones down to decisions of take a player or two more on primary list or one year contracted picks in rookie draft.

Not stupid questions at all coopss.

As the lists stands as of today, we have 34 Snr listed players including Matthew Kennedy, Matthew Lobbe, Darcy Lang, Aaron Mullett, 3 Cat A rookies, 0 Category A International Rookies, 0 Category B International Rookies, 0 Category B Rookies

13 players were cut from the list (3 retired).

We will use picks 3, 10, 30 & maybe use pick 73 in the ND so that will bring the Snr list to 38.
We may even pass on pick 73 and use it in the PSD.

Possible Rookie spots may go to Boek, Shaw, O’Shea.
