AFL draft points says pick 3 = pick 7 and 32. So why would a club gives us 7 and 8? You can do all the wishful thinking you like but in reality it's never going to happen.A: how am I 'failing to consider' the possibilities? I'm stating that if we were to go down this path, if it was possible, I would favour it over using pick 3 at the draft. People are saying that this path would be less favourable to going to the draft. It doesn't matter if the proposed trade is possible or not, we are debating if it would be a better strategy than going to the draft or not.
B: We're discussing different strategies, what could work, what won't etc
C: lol you are wrong.
I am thinking about what is the best way to maximise what we have to ensure we give ourselves the best opportunity at becoming the powerhouse we deserve to be. At some point trading picks for players makes sense. I think this year with two clubs holding multiple first round picks, I think it makes sense to trade our pick 3 to maximise its value to us.

If we had pick 7 and 8 and someone offered us pick 3 we would be laughing in their face.

In less than 25 wordsCan someone please explain to me how Gibbs is worth pick 10 and 18?
I can see what your saying, but never going to happen. St.kilda would have to give up Pick 7,8 and 25 for Kelly. If GWS so desperate for 3 then they would give us 7 and 25/ 7 and Kennedy/ 7 and Smith. I'm not saying we would agree to those trades. But if they could get a pick around 15 to go with 7 then we would accept it. So many options but pick 7 and 8 doesn't equal pick 3 unless we throw in an early 2nd rounder. It was suggested that Pick 3 could be used by St.Kilda to secure Kelly.
If GWS prefer pick 3 and something over 7 and 8 then it doesn't really matter what the points are.
Not even if he had 5 years left on his contract would we ever get that..... Its not explainableCan someone please explain to me how Gibbs is worth pick 10 and 18?

I know we talk about depth at our club, but seriously what is going on at GWS?
their 2nd's finished stone cold last with just 2 wins for the season.....
Last, with all that so called talent...and in the NEAFL for Christ sake.
Either they don't have a good coach, or they just play for themselves.
Does anyone have any info on what happened this year?
Is the player fountain finally drying up at GWS?
Or just too many injuries?
Can someone please explain to me how Gibbs is worth pick 10 and 18?
I stopped reading at "because of the weakness of this draft"...........Been thinking about the Gibbs situation.
10 on its own isn't enough because of the weakness of this draft. There's no guarantee at all whoever we take at 10 will be an adequate replacement for Gibbs.
Now the papers say we asked for two first rounders and a player last year . That's an ambit claim surely.
The real target would be two first rounders.
So would Adel give us 10 (Lever) and 18? I'm not sure they would.
But Lever is worth more than 10.
If Melb somehow gave Adel a sweetener then that might just keep Adel happy.
Melb give Adel 10 and 28.
Adel give Melb Lever.
Carl give Adel Gibbs.
Adel give Carl 10 and 18.
Adel keep 28.
Only thing that doesnt stack up under the above is Gibbs is worth more than Lever. So maybe Carl throw something Adels way. Say our third rounder but that's not worth much.
I'd follow another club if we did this. I have enough stress issues from watching Levi, let alone his poor clone in TabernerWhat about Matt Taberner(freo) to partner Levi up front? Been in and out of the side and clearly they see McCarthy as the answer. Out of contract and played a ripper today in the wafl.
That would apply if he wasn't contracted............People need to forget what Gibbs is worth to us when determining his trade value. If that logic is to be used, it should be what he is worth to Adelaide or at the very least on the open market.
Sydney wins preliminary final. Can someone please explain to me how Gibbs is worth pick 10 and 18?

Couple of players for the swans that we might look at.James Rose and Daniel Robinson. Both play that mid-forward type role.
3 and next years 1st to gws
Kelly Kennedy to carlton
Gibbs to Adelaide
1st pick and assuming they get 10 for lever to carlton
10 to dogs
Carlton stringer
Go all out
No one is giving a Top 10 pick for Stringer
