By the way, anyway still think Charlie Cameron would be worth recruiting ??

As expected, when the Crows were under the pump, he wasn't there at the coalface trying to kick-start a revival.
That's very harsh. He was one of the only forwards trying to, and succeeding occasionally, to make something happen. Was all over the forward half in the first two quarters.

The best Richmond player's from yesterday's premiership were recruited from 2007 to 2012. Anyone expecting preliminary finals for Carlton pre 2021 is dreaming. Also I expect at least 1 football department and Coaching review between 2020-2022. Has the club and supporters the patience to stick with the process, journey etc?

The difference between the 5th and 16th side is marginal. Carlton could rise quickly

Gibbs at his best is a forward-mid goalkickers, with great endurance. That would have been priceless for them yesterday.
I must say the Crows "Gibbs trade thread" is hilarious.

Prolifically cocky and abusive towards Carlton Management, Players, posters up until about 4pm yesterday.

Today there are very few posters, and those are very nasty towards any Carlton posters who dare venture there and seriously sooking it up big time.

Appeals to the sadistic humour within me!!!

I think Williamson goes to a wing, Docherty will most likely play that 7th man role.

Another pre season for Cuningham, Fisher and Pickett and we'll see some big hits. Fisher and Pickett crack in hard and don't seem to be afraid of tackling and pressure. Cuningham has the frame to be a pretty big body.
Agree SHT.

Not that impressed with Doc as a mid - best left where he has been killing it.

See Willo as fabulous winger - Isaac Smith style (and he comes from the same area in VIC - so you know it makes sense!).

Find someone else to play inside MID.

At times our ball movement out of defence is both slow and predictable. Sure we have used the short kicking game to great effect to minimise costly turnovers. However it comes at a cost where we make it easy for the opposition to set up defensively. Someone like Saad will provide us with run and carry options we currently don't utilise effectively.

Having said that I wouldn't mind doing the reverse Liam Jones on him and converting him into a small forward. Great overhead and will trouble slow defences alongside Pickett when the ball hits the ground.Rockliff is another noted goal kicker and the three of them could possibly address our inability to convert our inside fifty chances alongside McKay and Curnow with pace and aggression. Thoughts?

It has been very amusing how out of touch it was from start.
They never got we were never giving up on our player we value for unders. Had to be overs in the conditions or no deal. Amusing Reid put eggs all on one basket in trade period and got nothing but lose a player to Gold Coast for virtually nothing.
I hoped they would win yesterday as nothing to like with Tiggies winning but in a way the positive is Reid and these tossers got what they deserved for such stupidity last year.

I think we might be surprised by carlton's improvement next year.

Apart from Richmond's well performed small forward line structure their biggest improvement came from their rejuvinated midfield. The addition of Caddy and Prestia and the career best form of Dusty and Cotchin made for a super competitive midfield combination.

Carlton are now ready to build out their midfield unit as well. If SOS can bring in 2-3 super talented midfielders I'm thinking a top 8 finish as early as next year is not completely out of the question.

Yep.

It amuses me that many insist we should trade Gibbs for "fair value".

This mythical concept appears to be mandatory for any players the Crows want.

Jsos is best 22 all day.
If we pick up Kennedy Smith Rockliff and maybe Saad plus pick 3 id suggest that will push a normal midfielder or two to a flank wing or pocket making spots hard to get . Then form will dictate who is best 22 for a change not the favorites .

What's the mythical concept of 'overs' that you are hoping for, which will satisfy our trade needs (as well as satiate our ego) without triggering the old self-sabotage clause?

Based on what we witnessed yesterday with that list, top 4 should be the aim

Reckon Smith takes Wright's spot, rather than Silvagni's. Could also see Byrne as a lock for a bench spot at the least, or even pushing Simmo to the bench. Also makes you wonder who misses out if Rockliff comes across too - Curnow?

I/C from: E. Curnow, Simpson, Byrne, Kennedy, Cuningham, Williamson depending on form, fitness and needs.

Gets a bit tricky.

Early prediction but I feel Wright is going to struggle to hold his spot next season. Can only play the forward pocket role and has been ineffective when tried in the middle.

Players like Picket, Smith(?), Rayner(?), the resting midfielders will possibly squeeze him out.

I'd also like to see Simpson get a run in the forward pocket. I think he'd do well there.

Best thing that could happen for blues was crows getting smashed at the contest yesterday. Hungry crows supporters will be baying for blood, looking for a saviour. I recall after round 3 when someone stated that Adelaide didn't need gibbs. David king said no, not now, but wait til pf and gf week and they will. He again said on pure footy this week they missed a massive chance not getting gibbs, and it would be there for all to see on Saturday. He was spot on. They will surely go harder this year. At least we either keep him, or get fair compensation for him now. None of this "we don't really need him" crap
I was saying this last week. WE will get overs for Gibbs BECAUSE of the GF result if we decide to move him on

I'm not sure that is accurate TBH. Especially if we can land all the players we are targeting. Jack is going to need to step it up. Jack is one of the ones for me who may fall just outside the best 22 next year.
Agree. I know his numbers are good for a young forward but his lack of athleticism is an issue imo. Not an automatic selection for mine (still think he'll make it long term though).

My preference is Simpson not actually being best 22 next year. I'm struggling to find him a spot TBH.

Assuming we get who we are targeting, I think Wright is vulnerable also, especially if we get Devon Smith. If I had to guess right now, I would say Jack probably starts the year on account of me thinking that Harry wont.

He may still be needed in the first 22 depending on player personnel next season. We're extremely top-heavy down back and don't have any small defenders. Recruiting Saad may change this but not at the moment. And I don't think Plowman or Byrne are the answer either.

TBH, I'm also iffy about Byrne.I don't expect that Simmo will miss the best 22, though that is just my personal preference moving forward.
