Whether it's pick 1 or 2 this year, will not make much difference.
Our first pick might be traded for 2 top 10 picks to give SOS more scope to manoeuvre.
Let's say we trade our first for 2 top 10 picks, Levi's gets us a band 3 and if Gibbs goes to Adelaide.
We then will have potentially,
Pick #5
Pick #7
Pick #18 + player or 2nd or 3rd round pick
Pick #20
Aboviusly a hypothetical scenario, from 1 pick in the first round, no second round pick.
This allows SOS to go after a Kelly, Hopper or even another player and still be active early in the first round end of first and early second depending on what's given up trade wise.

We can't just trade pick 1 for 5+7, the team we're dealing with would need to own both of those picks in the first place and as it stands, only the Saints have a shot of owning 2 top 10 picks and tbh I'd rather we keep pick 1 than turn it into picks 7+10.

It's the midfield we need to concentrate upcoming trade and draft period.
Next year , if we are able to land one of the King brothers and Ben Silvagni our KPF woes are over, two elite talls at long last, special talents.

Hopefully BOSOS is enough to add to Curnow and McKay and we can get the best mid available with 2018 first.

Kerr might grow to be a dominant VFL player and serve as handy depth.

if the Lions knock of the Suns and Roos at the Gabba and we end up with the spoon again.

Won't happen. We won't win another game for sure but neither will Brisbane. North are about saving face and Solomon will get some energy out of the dressing room before seasons end.

Brisbane for the spoon.

With the amount of talent weve got into the club in the past 2 years . If we finish last this year its a no brainer for me if Stkildas wants pick 1 for 7+10 just do it! . This might be the draft to do it .
Might mean we miss out on Kelly but so be it . Opens up more possibilities of bringing even more talent into the club . Hell pick 7 could be better than Raynor and Kelly trade 10 or if Gibbs leaves 17 for Hopper or another similar and take 10 to the draft as well ?.

Rocket's sacking is probably as much of a slap in face to the list as well. Would expect to see that Suns go pretty hard for the remainder of the season. Whether that equates to wins, who knows?

What would people think about trading Plowman for something like the Dog's 2018 pick?
We have a glut of KPD and he has had a good year so interest would surely follow, I'm not sure on his contract situation however.
The best analogy would be Australia's Energy Policy

1. Two really good drafts and trading years in a row
2. Trading in Kelley and Hooper end of this year
3. Potentially Fathers and sons of SOS and Hickmott 2018
4. Pleasant surprise in the emerging of full back of the 21st century, Liam "the Explosive Beast" Jones and generational player in Charlie Curnow
5. Bolton

Not sure I have missed anything or anyone else but that is as good as how a dynasty was built
Potential Hickmott FS this year too.

All for getting hopper. Will also allow us to use our first pick in the draft to pick up a Raynor, LDU, Dow or Cerra.

Precisely.
As good as Kelly is, he's simply going to cost us too much.
Hopper will play round 1 next year and make our midfield better right away.

What would get the hopper trade done?
No way are we trading our first pick. Next pick 37.

Work out what we get for Gibbs, that'll probably give you an answer.

Alternatively, we trade pick 1 or 2 - unlikely - and we check-in a pick in the teens with Hopper's luggage..........

At this time of year Carlton fans go through their list management exercises and throw up the names. it's so sad that we keep doing this but as a continual bottom r4 team what else do we have?!!!!

For mine I don't think Gorringe will be let go. Rubbish ruckman but he's #3 on the list and if Casboult gos as we all now expect there is room for a HFF / C grade ruckman.
