Imagine if Casboult does go, you can just picture him playing against us taking 15 marks, kicking 8.0 including the sealer after the siren from 20m in front. Bookmark it haha

Seriously doubt it. We have wasted so much time on him and Warnock for very little return, and yet Jones was ignored. When finally given some attention and good coaching at VFL, he has thrived. That is what a good VFL coach is meant to do.

I get all that but I think we're woefully short for big men as Sos has tried to cover other list deficiencies first. If Casboult goes I think he stays as insurance.

If we cleared Jaksch and kept Gorringe? ............ I'd be angry.
I know you're putting his name forward as a back-up ruck, but no.....just no. Sooner throw Jones into the ruck for the odd spell than Gorringe.

I'd like Kelly too but the price (a. what we have to give up b. what we have to pay him) worries me.
I don't care whether another team can claim a win for his signature, but just for the net result.

Would be happy to get Hopper, keep our first picks for this year and next and do some money-balling on mids through trades.

Won't happen. We won't win another game for sure but neither will Brisbane. North are about saving face and Solomon will get some energy out of the dressing room before seasons end.

Brisbane for the spoon.

Tom Lynch out for season, Ablett will probably be "sore" and they have a heap of other injuries.

Be surprised if the beat Lions.

Despite what the names/quality of SOS's trade targets are for this year, I just don't see him trading out our current 1st round pick. SOS has shown that he values all picks inside the first round, so unless there is a deal "too good to refuse" I believe we will not trade that pick

At some stage, that could change, but I strongly doubt it will be this year

Maybe we just can't get our heads around the notion.
I can say it with ease and it makes sense to quit this years first for elite quality..........but I just don't see it happening.

No issue if it does and I'm sure we'd all be buoyed with some premium talent coming into the club, but.....can SOS find another way?

Kelly would be the only one you would do it for as he is still young and established. He's a guaranteed star for the next 8-10 years. No one else would be worth it

That is what I suspect will happen. The possible Gibbs trade will be vital, when considering trade targets

Should go on again next year to be the virtual coach out on the ground.
actually think he has had a pretty good year. can only count on 1 hand the amount of times he has really spudded it up out there. deserves 1 more year at the right price

I really don't want to open this can of worms again. All I will say is, if any club had to give up just one pick (1 or 2), they would do it in a heartbeat

Can easily see us ending with Pick 1. Lions a shoe in to beat the depleted Suns as they are and a big shout to ride that wave and down the Roos. Meanwhile, whilst we're still competitive - we don't look like winning and have a much tougher fixture from here on in.

At this time of year Carlton fans go through their list management exercises and throw up the names. it's so sad that we keep doing this but as a continual bottom r4 team what else do we have?!!!!

For mine I don't think Gorringe will be let go. Rubbish ruckman but he's #3 on the list and if Casboult gos as we all now expect there is room for a HFF / C grade ruckman.

Keep Gorringe?

I've heard it all. The bloke is the most injury prone I have ever seen on our list.

Will be lucky to get paid a packet of twisties and Gatorade at an SFL club next year.

I know. I am an advocate for keeping picks but Kelly would be the only one I would consider for our first pick. Won't be fussed either way. I don't think we will get him anyway instead getting Hopper Balic and maybe another player plus a heap of picks. Just my feeling

Casboult pick if band 3, and taking on griffens contract?

The Griffen part makes sense on paper in that it could open up opportunities for a number of deals between CFC and GWS .
Problem is i seem to recall that Griffen doesn't like the fishbowl atmosphere in Melbourne .
I believe he has 1 year to run on his contract at GWS , he probably knows he's nearly finished and might be content to sit in the NEAFL and collect the easy cash for another year before slipping into footy obscurity and getting on with the rest of his life wherever he chooses .

I would be asking the question of St Kilda as to whether they are interested in trading up to Pick 2 or even 1. Their projected picks at this stage look like being around the 7 & 8 mark, a rough draft top 10 at this stage is looking like: Rayner, Dow, Cerra, LDU, Constable, Brander, Coffield, Garner, Stephenson & Brayshaw.

So would we prefer one of Cerra, Dow, Rayner or two of Coffield, Garner, Stephenson, Brayshaw? I would take two players over one in this draft every day of the week. Hopefully SOS agrees and the saints really like a player near the top of the draft order, i'd say Rayner is one who would really appeal to them. It could end up working heavily in our favour.

If we really needed to find a ruckman would rather hold onto JGM and trial him full time in the ruck next year.
There is no spot in the backline for him.

He's a long shot, but I'd keep him on the list.
Needs to get stronger, but is lightning quick for a big guy.

If the right attitude is in place, I'd keep him for another year, at least.

Blues trade pick 55
To Freo for H. Balic

Blues draft C. Raynor or L. Davis-Uniake with pick 1 or 2

I think that would be a good outcome.

Let's not write off Kelly, Hopper and co. as SOS seems to be more than capable when it comes to identifying and delivering talent.
So I'm also backing him in to be resourceful and creative to again deliver and draft/ trade elite talent to the CFC.
He will get the best possible outcome/ result for the club sticking to the criteria and process outlayed from day dot.
I'm confident in the direction the club is heading and the list is coming together in the right manner, via the draft.
On a side note the club should ask the AFL for a PP, whether we get 1 or not, we'll never now unless we ask.
The Blues will not match last years 7 games won, but funnily enough have improved in many aspects.
Over the next few months, players will be rumoured joining different clubs, and at the end I'm sure as supporters we will be happy with the result.
