I'll just drop Lukas Webb in it again.

3 years in the system. Dominates in the VFL and has been turned into an inside mid. His kicking is usually his biggest weapon. Loves a goal.
VFL stats http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Ratings/Player/119669/Lukas-WEBB

Most impressive. I really wanted him in his draft year.

Was #27 in the 2014 draft. Played 10 games in 2015, 5 in 2016 and 4 this year so his star is on the wane at the Dogs. Could nab him for our early 4th if he nominates us. Maybe early 3rd or future 2nd if they throw Redpath in assuming Levi leaves.

Who said round one?

The poster you quoted said he was putting down his team for round 1, and then you said you'd have a crack at it.

I guess you didn't see it. Hopefully Kerr and Lebois can show strong form in the 2's next year and earn their debuts at some point and maybe even play some consecutive games.

I may well be wrong. Just my opinion of what I see. Am I not allowed?

It won't actually influence any decisions and better than just following others

Sounds like a bit of wishful thinking/contrarianism

Basically:
1. The Top 20 are OK, but almost all have obvious weaknesses
2. Overall quality is poor
3. Stark drop-off after 30-40
4. Lots of overragers being considered as comfortable draft choices; in previous years they'd be more than likely to be rookied

Anyway, bit of semantics, but overall it's not a draft to get excited about after the first 15-20 selections

It's just my 30-33 for next year that our side should be picking from. The rest are purely back up/depth

As for LeBois I believe he has some special talent. Was going to play Round One this year until injured that week.

I'm not writing off anyone for Round One next year as kids can really step up after another good pre season

Your opinion and you're entitled to it. I just don't agree and I don't see it as a big deal

I don't think any of us would say no to Webb.
Would trade our third for him.

Honestly wouldn't be upset if after the trade period we only brought in Webb for a third rounder and Balic for a token pick and that was basically it.

If that were to eventuate, despite the initial disappointment of not getting a Kelly or Hopper type, those 2 SHOULD theoretically be able to push their way into our starting 22 and add to our midfield depth along with someone like Dow who we take with pick 3 at the draft...adding 3 good young mids and then load up for a gun player next off season.

That's what I'm thinking.

Cripps, Murphy, Gibbs (or 1st round mid), E Curnow, Boekhorst, Cuningham, Webb, Balic, #3 inside mid with Doc, Williamson, Pickett rotating through. Still inexperienced but improving.

How could you forget SPS & Fish?!

Murphy, Gibbs, Cripps, E Curnow, SPS, Fish, Cuningham, Boek, Webb, Balic & Pick 3...looks promising to me.

Though i'd still prefer we get Kelly.

I had SPS in there before Gibbs. Accidental deletion when I added Gibbs depending on what he chooses to do. Fish I forgot.

Is it sad (for me) looking forward more to the off-season than the actual season?

Yep, personally, I can't wait for the off season to be over so that I can watch the team play again.

Hmmm, I'll have a crack and present a team for round 1 next year...

Delistings/ retirees:
- Armfield
- Buckley
- Gallucci (r)
- Glass-McCasker (r)
- Gorringe
- Graham
- Jaksch
- Korchek (r)
- Palmer
- Sheehan (r)
- Smedts (? Contract ?)
- Sumner
- White

Keep A. Silvagni on the Rookie list.

FA Compensations:
- End of 2nd round (~36) for Levi leaving.

Potential DFA pickups: (Need approximately 3 with proposed trades and picks left over.)
- Redpath (KPF depth)
- Miles (Contested midfield depth, think he has potential still and could be a useful starter)
- A ruck, perhaps Trengove or Spencer.

Trading:
- Gibbs to Adelaide for picks 17 and 35
- 5th round pick to Freo for Balic
- Pick 3 and 36 to GWS for Kelly
- 4th rounder to GC for Matera

Picks
- 17, 35, early 3rd round, 6th round
LemmingMaster, Arr0w and whoever else is keeping close tabs on the draft can you suggest any players for at least our first 2 picks in this situation (17& 35)

Round 1 vs Richmond:

FB: Plowman Jones Marchbank
HB: Docherty Weitering Byrne
C: SPS E Curnow Murphy
HF: Pickett Mckay Wright
FF: Fisher Redpath J. Silvagni
R: Kreuzer Cripps Kelly

I/C: C Curnow, Simpson, Williamson, Matera

- Rowe, Asos & Macreadie ready to step into the backline
- Boekhorst, Cuningham, Balic, Miles, Thomas, Kerridge ready to step into the midfield
- Phillips, DFA pickup as developed ruck help
- Lamb, Kerr as the only pure f50 depth options

With 4 draft picks to add

Rookie list will have:
- Lebois
- ASos
- Perhaps international rookies/ mature age recruits.

This team looks better through the midfield, needs more for the f50 and a small defender or two. Only 4 draft picks with still a fair few needs suggests this draft is an extremely important one. SOS has plenty to get right still.

A really balanced analysis SkyhorseTamer

Generally you would be looking for sliders with these picks.

Pick 17 - Spargo - I still rate him as a first rounder, could be available with our next pick, but wouldn't risk it. Wins his own ball, smooth on both sides of the body and harder than a cats head. Other options Ling, L. Fogarty. Worpel

Pick 35/Early 3rd - Stoddart, Hayden, Roughsedge, Houlihan, North

6th Rounder - Dixon, Miller, De Koning, Handley

Murph needs to step down as captain. We need someone who isn't an introvert, someone who actually models what we want our players to do and be - confidence, assertiveness, competitive both ways... There's just something about Murphy that doesn't do it for me as captain. I'm fed up with the shyness and awkwardness in the media, the fact he doesn't compete in the air, the quiet nature on field.

We can do better.

Thanks for that violent insight.
What is it with people wanting to punch others in the face?
Say that towards a woman, even in the same jest and all hell will break loose, but towards a guy? Violence is violence.

I know, I know........it's only a joke. It's just one in very poor taste.

I may be in the minority here but I enjoy seeing some people getting punched in the face!
In fact, I get a perverse pleasure out of punching people in the face myself (in a controlled environment of course)
Are we that politically correct that we can no longer mention the faces we wish to inflict pain upon?
I personally feel that I have unfinished business with Darren Bewick!........I have never met the man, but I have a dislike for him. If I see him in the street am I going to approach him and coward punch him? Absolutely not! But if he came to my gym and was looking for a sparring partner I would be the first to raise my hand!

Nothing to do with Political Correctness.

Yes, there will be many who will enjoy the fight today also and look forward to some blood being spilled.
We excuse this to ourselves as just some primal instinct but it's only when you think about it.......I mean really think about it......that you realise that it's not such a great human trait, wishing to impart pain and damage upon another human being. Any being actually.

Have you thought about it?

Have you thought about how some people actually enjoy getting punched in the face?

That's why so many people do combat sports. To hit and get hit.

That's why we've always had warrior classes in society over thousands of years.

What do I care what primitive man enjoyed?
If any man, woman or child here that told me they enjoyed getting punched in the face, I'd suggest they go and visit a therapist.

It's where we are for now and violence still seems to have a place here..........I'm just saying that it's a pretty shitty place.

SOS (as would other List Managers) really start to ramp things up now.
10 teams out of finals action allows plenty of one-to-one interviews.

Would be thrilled should SOS manufacture something as good as he has in the past 2 years.
Just think it's going to be somewhat more difficult without a second rounder and with little tradable commodity.

It's going to be very interesting. It is now.
