Listening to Trigg and the expected List changes at years end I can see us going backwards in terms of wins next year.

By the start of next season we will have a probable best 22 with

Silvagni SPS Cuningham Fisher Williamson Marchbank Charlie Byrne Sheehan Pickett Sumner (maybe Hopper) with around 20 games or less
Polson McKay Kerr LeBois Macreadie will have less than 5-10 games under them
We will then add another 5-6 kids that will be yet to debut and maybe some other young talent from other clubs with less than 20 games.
These kids will need to play to get experience and learn what is expected and then start to influence games.

On top of this Murphy Gibbs Kruezer Simpson Docherty Cripps are in career best form and if we lost one or two to injury it would really make a difference.

I love what the club is doing in nearly every regard but the reality is I believe we will step back before moving forward.

Seems overly negative, the exprctation was to go backwards this year and we haven't.

How can you make a realistic call when we have no idea who's coming in?

Negative? I see it as a realistic positive. All part of rebuilding and shows we have brought in the right kids to take us forward. Reality is these kids will need games and time to step up but when they do I believe we will have the talent to threaten for the flag for many years to come

Not sure what's embarrassing about getting a star player and pick 28 for two pick 7s

You stated his value as being 7 and 7, the second pick was a floating pick, could of been anything. I was saying Collingwood assumed they would finish higher, if they had of known it was going to be 7 n 7 they would of asked for something a bit sweeter than a late 20s pick

The reason it is embarrassing is that they went too early. Treloar is definitely the type of player they needed, but without KP stocks, it could all be wasted.

In: Treloar and pick 28 (pushed back for 32 Sier)
Lost: Weideman & Logue (What those 2 first rounders could have netted them)

So far Pies are in front of that trade, but for how long

I listened to Triggs interview and he was very strong on Gibbs' contract status but left some wiggle room for Gibbs to be traded.

To me it sounded like we don't care what other teams want, if they want Bryce they pay the price.
His value has increased from last year I would have thought. Two first round picks, including a top 10 one, or bugger off.

Wasn't Hopper an academy selection?

Which is why I like what we're doing now and why Collingwood got it badly wrong.
Other than for a couple of 20 year olds, we haven't reached for any 'heroes' nor have we given up a first rounder.......yet.

You can almost see what will come about and if it does...........we've really mapped this out well.

With Jones playing so well in the back line, Rowe has some thinking to do.
I would have Rowe and White playing predominately in the Northern blues next year.
I would support a 1 year contract with the view that they are focused on mentoring our next back line talls and providing injury coverage.

Seriously though; Why should Rowe, White and Armfield roll out another year?
I think they're smarter than that and will do the right thing at years end.

I'd say only Rowe gets another go.

I will say though that we lack big strong rigs on the list if they go. Marchbank and Mcredie will never have the size and power of these guys.

Frankly, I think we're a bit undersized.

Think we will keep a back up as such, possibly Rowe on the Rookie list

Maybe, but we do have ASilvagni.
Macreadie is learning his craft down back, also.

Love what Rowe has done for us, but to come back in mid year without really getting the chance to play any serious football.........Is it worth it?

Rowe is a good player to have on list for next year or so whilst others develop. Can fill so many roles

Rowe should definitely get another year.

Has been a mainstay in our best side for a few years now and was best 22 this year before going down with injury.

Can't cut him now he's done the knee unless he decides not to go on again, which I doubt.

With both Jones and ASOS showing themselves to be very capable down back, it wouldn't surprise should we see Rowe up forward next year. We'll need a big body should Levi depart.

May also not see much time playing, let alone playing in the seniors.

I can see us going smaller and faster next year. Just may not be the need for 5 tall down back.

Still a handy back up that can play back forward or ruck when needed. Club has said he will be there next year and I reckon we are still another season away from playing a more attacking style. We will be even younger next year

At this stage it would be worth it as a rookie. Decisions like that wouldn't be made till very late anyway

If casboult departs I think playing Rowe in his position as the stop gap is the best option...even if he misses start of next year. Much better than going for a tippett or Reid type anyway.

Ok, didnt mention Army and sure White may move on but that has been on the cards for several seasons and he is still with us.
I would think that Rowe would be given another year if he wanted it.
Whilst he is in recovery he can still pass on knowledge and play a role for our backline.
Once he is ready to go I mentioned that he would be coverage not automatically best 22.
