No worries.

We'll just secure him as a free agent at the end of 2019, just as we're peaking and he's had a flag at the Giants.

Kreuzer FA and whatever we can shake out of the Gibbs deal which could be on-traded.SOS is a God.
We just need to acquire an extra pick or two under 30 for this year's draft; any ideas?

I was dead against it. I was dead wrong. It's probably already been mentioned by other posters, but that late trade with the Hawks is looking like a masterstroke.
What was the trade again? It's probably already been mentioned by other posters, but that late trade with the Hawks is looking like a masterstroke.
What was the trade again?
Jaksch.,., tried my best to predict the delistings at the end of the year...
Delisted: D Gorringe, A Silvagni, L Jones, D Buckley, B. Boekhorst, L. Casboult
Retired: D Thomas, D Armfield
Traded out: Gibbs ...
On top of the guys mentioned who else would be in the gun?
Talk over on the GWS page is that both Kelly and Shiel are set to re-sign. Devon Smith seems to be the vulnerable one of the out of contract players going by the talk there.
Devon Smith is a gun but not sure he's the type we'd prioritise since he's more a small forward in the Pickett/Sumner/Polson mould.
I'm sure we'd love to have him, but we have bigger priorities in midfielders for now to use our trade assets on.
Would rather keep both and build the young kids around them and Murphy.
Don't forget in terms of senior experienced players, we'll be losing Simpson, Casboult, Daisy, White, Armfield & Rowe from the best 22 in the next year or 2 which will leave us with a very young team.
I think it's important to keep Kreuzer, Gibbs & Murphy to be the senior leaders much like Bob Murphy, M Boyd & Morris are for the dogs and Riewoldt & Montagna are for the Saints.
Very conceivable that in 2019 the only senior experienced players will be Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer & E Curnow. Then basically the rest of the team would be kids 24 and under.
leaving 6 spots. Use 6 picks in the draft (Our first, Adelaides first, a second we've traded picks for, some later picks).
Spot on DD.You've made an indepth post but skimped on the most important bit. If we are going to delist all those guys (agree on most) we need to have decent picks to replace them with.
Currently we have a 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and by your prediction Adelaides 1st. That's 5, if we trade picks to get another second then that number goes down.
Majority of the time not much gold is found in the 5th round and beyond so I'm a little sceptical of replacing guys with poor draft pics.
Spot on DD.
Do we do the full clean out at the end of Season 2017 and delist 8-10 players and perhaps lose Gibbs (trade) and Kreuzer (FA) too?
How do we fill the list spots after 5-6 draft picks and maybe 1-2 rookie upgrades?
How do we achieve the salary cap spend?
If FA and not a Fyfe or a Martin, then who? And DFAs?
Perhaps another 2-3 players will have 1-year contracts like Casboult, Buckley and Graham have this year.
Agreed 100% Devon is a jet. Would instantly improve our side. Has some run, aggression and loves a goal.Doesn't Devon get quite a bit of the footy? I've seen him a bit and he takes the game on, backs himself and is a hard worker.
Pocket and Sumner don't seem to be big possession getters and Polson hasn't proved anything.
I would of thought Smith was more in the Breust mould.
What was the trade again?

GWS future 2nd for picks 48 Macreadie, 66 Polson, 70 Kerr, IIRC, Hawks were desperate for another 2nd to JOM over the line,
JOM could potential cost the Hawks a top 5 pick and 3 2nd rounders.

Smith is a favorite of mine .
A "footballer" with class and a really competitive attitude .
I guess the discussion lies in how we are placed with his type of player .
Pickett , Polson , Sumner , LeBois all small forward / midfielder types .
Where do Bolton/Silvagni see these blokes going forward ?
Smith is a beauty and there's always a strong argument for attaining class players when you can .
But the midfield appears the area where we need to concentrate our resources at seasons end .
