In short NO.

Imo he's a punk.
Every good premiership team over the past decade or so has had at least one player you would classify as a punk on their team. Sometimes multiple. Hell, the best premiership captain in recent AFL memory would be considered by most to be a punk and has a rap sheet much longer than his.

He made one very stupid mistake. If he's learned his lesson then it's the type of lesson that he could impart on impressionable teammates who are facing similar situations. You'd have to be an idiot to think that every young player hasn't faced it at some point. And having worked in pro sports let me assure you that because he was the one that got caught doesn't mean that there haven't been a lot more that have gotten away with it.

If SOS is interested in getting him then I trust his judgment. He's made it perfectly clear that we'll have no bad characters on the team. If he's on the market and SOS passes without pause then you know what that means as well.

on his own in a weak team?

Sure he went Nº 1 but in the games I've seen him he looks like a 'cream' player who relies on others to feed him the ball.
Understand your point and perhaps he isnt worth the overspend. But at the same time you need to have a mix of players and a big accumulator and finisher is something we are missing atm

Fair call and I to back Sos judgement.

No it's really not. 66 game rebuild. Next year is another development year before we start climbing in 2019.

Anyone thinking that finals is on the horizon in 2018 is in for a rude awakening. Our kids need more senior footy, a few more preseasons and a serious talent injection into our midfield before they take us to September.
We will play finals 2018

You could argue the same about Charlie if you wanted to- dubious character / poor judgement blah blah blah. It was a stupid mistake made by a young kid. We all made mistakes / error in judgement when we were kids lets not be too judgmental.

What's a miracle? It may be unlikely but far from impossible.

We have 2 trade periods yet to go through, whilst getting games into the abundance of quality young men we have.
Lots what need to go right and for us to nail the next two trade periods and drafts, but it's possible.

The backline will be set. We'll surely have a few more quality mids by then, but the forward line......That's where JSilvagni will need to start kicking goals......Weitering to be come more consistent.....Charlie to be more dominant......and a couple of smalls that know what they're doing....and then Harry.
By miracle I mean we don't have any significant injuries, good draw, a lot of lucky single digit wins, all recruited players firing, pick up at least 1 high profile free agent and other top teams being inconsistent.

Not impossible but very unlikely.

With 2 more years of hitting the draft hard plus trades and free agency we should absolutely have the list in place to take us there. They may not be ready to take us there that early but the bulk of our list should be in place by then. How strong and deep do you think other lists are? If they were that much stronger than us surely they would be spanking our VFL team.
Like I said in response to Harker, a lot will have to go right.

I just told you. I'll put it this way, draft picks don't always = elite players. By continuously allowing them early picks we are increasing their chances of getting the most talented players on their list. Hopper will improve our list, but if they pick up someone better with that pick then we have missed the chance of having someone better while they improve their list even further.

You do realise that we have to beat them eventually right? How are we going to do that when they keep picking up the best youngsters?
The joy of competing in a league that is salary capped means they are never going to be able to keep all of the talented players they get with picks. They have already lost good players off their list and they will continue to lose good players off their list even if they keep bringing in talented youngsters. I think you are being overly pessimistic about it. No club will ever be able to keep picking up talented players while continuing to hold the one's they already have. The salary cap will see to it. If they being GWS or any other club can pick up talented players with high draft picks and develop them isn't that a good thing? They will eventually have to let some of them leave.

If they can sense a lot of success they will stick together there's no doubt about it.

Look at the Cats and Hawks in recent times. Most of them stuck together for the flags.

Right now it is, but a lot can be achieved in 2 years.
As things stand, we don't have all the pieces in place and that's SOS's job to get that happening.

Our improvement won't come by way of trading as much as it will be by way of development and the last 2 years drafting will have a big say in that.
Not out of the question that at least 10 players brought into the club in the past 2 years will be regular best 22 players.

They'd be Weitering, CCurnow, Marchbank, Pickett, JSilvagni, Fisher, Cuningham, Macreadie, Plowman, Williamson & Petrevski-Seton.
Get Harry Mckay, Phillips and Polson in there also and the base isn't too bad.

The drafting, trading and coaching has had more purpose about it than we've seen at the CFC before. A lot can happen in two years.

The President of France had an inappropriate relationship with his drama teacher; what's your point?
I don't get much info, so when I just happen to know something I thought it might e worth dropping.

I aint tainting the guys name, half the AFL would have been shitty teenage boys, cause half of teenage boys are shits.

Fair enough but Dan Hannebery got into some naughtiness at Xavier once and he still turned out a decent player.

But I did hear from an ex-teacher that the Scott twins were shits even back then!

Most of the players you listed already are a part of our best 22. I just can't see them from age 20-22 being able to consistently perform well enough to push for a top 4 spot so soon.

But you're right about our drafting and coaching. Can really get the sense of purpose to everything being done and the process feels right. To be honest, I haven't felt like we've been in such a good position for a long time but there's still a long way to go as you said.

Need to nail the next 2 drafts and to do it we need better picks.

Even the chance at flags wont keep a lot of their non NSW players there. Sure, some will be happy to stay but I think they will look to get home, whether that be to Victoria or SA or WA sooner or later. Unless they stack their list with NSW born and bread players they will always have a player retention problem moving forwards.
