Forget Collins. :) Why would you even bring his name up?

About as far away from a back-man SOS would want at the club.
really just thought he would suit us we will need a key lock down full back that stays on his man at all times

We do have marchbank but he is more a CHB i just am looking for the future with collins

Would sooner get a couple more years from ASilvagni, develop JGM as far as we can and get Jones up and running.
Our backline has enough synergy going on already without trying to prop it up with someone like Collins......or even Lever for that matter.

The back-line isn't the problem and if cracks show up, we can deal with them later........not now. Too many other holes to plug.

I can see a situation where GWS may look at a first rounder for the Hopper/Smith combo, but maybe not so much for Hopper/Kennedy.
I have nothing to back that up, other than Kennedy may be harder to extricate, being an Academy player.........maybe.
A poster on TC has put this up last night in regards to Matt Kennedy:

"Personally know bam and has told me he wants to stay at gws but it will depends what happens with Kelly and Smith.
GC , Tigers , Carlton and Hawks have made contact with he's management. The feeling I get is if not at GWS will try to get to the Hawks."

No idea what your argument is, stats on are page like this are next to worthless and without any context. Are you suggesting we will play finals next year based on these stats?
I'm refuting malicfice suggestion that these players are not comparable to their GWS counterparts. These stats show from an objective point of view that they are, and my subjective opinion is that they are

That seems fair enough. Can see us kicking the tyres on Kennedy but maybe not quite ready for that purchase, if we have something else in mind.

As far as Lever goes, while almost certainly unlikely to land at Carlton, on the off chance it did happen, I think we would certainly be able to find room for him in the backline, and on ASOS, I think he has shown more than enough in his performances to be offered and upgraded contract to the main playing list, rather than rookie him.

If we finish bottom 3 next year I will delete my account.
Bookmarked.

Its pretty naïve if you cant see the club is rightfully playing down expectations intentionally.
What the hell? Playing down expectations?

You think thats what they're doing with this whole 'green shoots' and 'the journey' and 'sticking to the road map' and 'restting the list' jargon?

You are also kidding yourself if the club and coach Brendan 'we are a club in a hurry' Bolton are putting a celling on what we can achieve. No one is saying we will peak in 2018, but the club will definitely be aiming for finals, I just wont be holding my breath waiting for them to announce it like Malifice will be.
Its year three of a three year reset next year... and you think we are aiming for finals in it?

Hillarious.

As far as our offence goes, along with the rest of the side, it is improving. We have scored over 95 points twice this year, we only achieved that 3 times for the whole year last year
Dude what? Our forward line is (clearly, by ANY metric) the worst in the competion. Worse than Brisbanes even. Our leading goalscorers the past 2 years were Matty Wright with 20 odd and Andrejis Everitt with 30.

You reckon that's going to suddenly and miraculously change next year and morph into a forward line capable of getting the 12 wins to get us into finals?

We've had next to zero injuries this year (thank God) barring Rowe who (luckily for us) is in a postiion we have coverage for with a glut of tall defenders and an astute rookie pick in ASOS last year. Next year, we likely loose Gibbs and possibly Simpson and maybe Kruezer and/or Casbout, and pick up even more 18 year olds, and suddenly we are going to find a functioning forward line, an improved midfield and the scoring power needed to turn 3-5 wins into 12?

READ THE ROOM. The coach, president and CEO have been crystal clear that this is a total list reset. We are 18 months into it. And only barely starting to enter the development stags of pumping games into the kids while the grown ups are still on the list. We still have two big drafts to come this year and next before the reset is offically over.

I love your optimism but watch non Carlton games football man, and leard to read what Bolton and the rest are saying (he says it often enough). We are miles off at present, and will be for another 2-3 years yet.

Would be disappointed with that if correct.

I just hope we see Le Bois, Pickett, Kerr and McKay after the break.

(Jaksch and Jones were as good as both gone as soon as SOS walked in the door, or they'd be playing already. Lamb burnt.)

Green shoots, sticking to the road map etc if you want to take everything the club says literally be my guest, but go ask a Matthew Kruezer if the club has told him he won't play finals at the blues because we plan on being successful in 2020. He will laugh at you and any player who has shown the buy in this year from the top of the list to the bottom will laugh at you.

There's no room in this competition teams who wait.

You think the players themselves don't know how far back we are coming from? If you asked MK if he will be playing finals with Carlton in 2018 he would be lying if he said yes. All he would have is a hope to play finals. And all you would hear any player say is, trotted out, media managed lines along the lines of one game at a time, trust the process, games into the kids blah, blah , blah! Ask him privately and he would be most doubtful.

And no one is waiting for anything. We simply aren't ready for finals, not even close. And the players no that they are on a journey too, for lack of a better term. If Carlton play finals next year, the players themselves will be as surprised as everybody else in the AFL.

Excuse me for using the same argument again, but why would our efforts go largely to one part of the ground that may make us 5% better, when for the same currency we may be able to add 10% improvement elsewhere.

I can even buy us going for Schache, but Lever for all his qualities seems relatively pointless.

Midfielder, midfielder, midfielder/forward and forward/midfielder.

They will be our next 4 top end inclusions. IMO

Could we be at all interested in Josh Kelly? salary cap room isn't an issue for us and for me he is the 2nd best young midfielder in the league behind Bont.

I know the contract length and salary would be insane, but how often does the chance to get a superstar come along?

Every chance we are bottom 3 next year. Almost a certainty.

The kids will still be young and needing games. We will add another 6-8 kids that will need more games. List will be even younger in 2018.
We are doing well this year because Murphy Gibbs Kruezer Simpson Curnow Docherty are having almost career best years. Even then we are 17th.

I like the way we are developing but we are a long long way from moving up the ladder. Another 2-3 years of full on development and games into kids is required. They need a minimum 30 plus games to become consistent influential AFL players. That takes time, especially with so many. That's the plan and Bolton & Co know it

0% chance of Kelly coming to Carlton.

What we can hope for is that he stays put at GWS and that that forces Hopper out....and to us.

Jacob Hopper.
Devon Smith..........if he can be mixed into the Hopper deal.

That's all I care about right now. May be some fringe players here or there, but can't be too thrilled for them, as has proved to be the case in recent years.
Jungle drums are beating fairly strongly that if Devon Smith goes he goes to Geelong.
