Agreed. Third round compo is pretty much useless to us.

Ignoring how laughable our outgoings are compared to our incomings, WC wouldn't want White given their tall and medium defensive stocks, and GWS wouldn't want more picks at the draft; they'd want better ones.Carlton

He doesn't take a shot at goals or take a hit on the bodyMurphy having an outstanding season.
Not sure I agree he 'looks jaded'.
If there is a Wayne Schwass / Shannon Grant deal out there for us and Murphy wanted to go, then I would not begrudge him, but I would not be pushing him if he wasn't already thinking about going.
Yeah.. His best year for yearsmurphy has polled coaches votes in 9 out of 11 games in a season where we have won 4 out of 11 games. jaded? hate to see him have a good year.

He doesn't look happy to me
I think
Yeah.. His best year for years
Righto...with GWS wobbling, Hawks and Swans in the rearview mirror, and no one else quite ready to take the ascendancy, let's get Simmo a flag. Kelly and Hopper for pick 2 and a future second? Throw huge coin at Breust, who the Hawks will happily let go given their predicament, and possibly the same with Reid at Sydney.
Docherty, Weitering, Byrne
Simpson, Marchbank, Plowman
Cuningham, Gibbs, Samo
Silvagni, Reid, Murphy
Curnow, Casboult, Breust
Kreuzer, Cripps, Kelly
Hopper, Williamson, Fisher, Pickett and so on.

Sigh...OK, back to the re-build. Slow and steady SOS.Pretty sure Breust has re-signed.
Yeah, agreed, Murph has scored a couple amazing goals this yearWhat are you talking about how does Murph look jaded? He looks the same he always does.
If he was jaded he wouldn't be playing at such a high level and be our best player this year...jaded players play poorly.
And he absolutely does take shots at goal...he's kicked a few this year. He's just really good at passing to a player in a better position.
And he still takes hits to the body...but less so this year because he's playing more of an outside role, which is a good thing because this is where he's the most damaging.
No, would be a Carlton of old thing to do.That is one of the worst ways to go about it. The club is bigger than any one player. Always has been, always will be.
I agree it would be awesome to see Simmo with a Premiership medal in a Navy Blue jumper, the reality is, we cannot rush a rebuild for him. If it happens, it happens.
No, would be a Carlton of old thing to do.
Still, I can see a point in the not too distant future where we have to make a decision between loading up and staying the course. It's coming quicker than we realise.
So in summary of the last 15-30 pages...
Carlton get Hopper, Kelly and every male Blues supporter gets a free boner!
GWS get not much and get bent over hard and will be forced to like it
Great work all, carry on.

Would so love to screw the AFL's love child over. Winning a flag with half our team consisting of GWS originals would stick it right up the AFL for screwing us over.

The only people who screwed over Carlton, were Carlton. The AFL didn't do anything to us. Its been years upon years of our own mismanagement and screwing ourselves.
I would love to see a "NO REPLY" compilation thread dedicated to all the doozy of doozies "trade ideas" from all Club Boards from now till silly season.
oh the chortles it would bring.
1. Drug saga "penalties" actually rewarded them on field. They got a #1 pick pretty much for doping. Salary cap breaches haunted us for a long time.
2. Umpiring every week. It's obvious as **** that the umps are under instructions to screw us every week.
I'm hearing there has been a push by the board to land a big fish. The club is struggling with corporate support. There are some on the board who believe we need to raise the clubs profile and go for a big fish that's had plenty of marketing value. Watch this space
While we wait for Terry ... I keep thinking someone will 'be this year's Tuohy'. Any thoughts? What do you see Terry?
What would your plan of attack be, this and next year?
This is really what this thread should be about. Put yourself in SOS's shoes and map out the future of the list.
There will be plenty of ideas that don't quite work, but there will be some good ideas that warrant further discussion.
I feel:
No Free agents in 2017. One big ticket item next year.
Next years first will be on the table for the right situation (Kelly?)
We will keep this years first at just about all cost.
We will work with GWS again. Even though SOS is out of their loop, he's still smart enough to put the numbers together, to advantage.
If a band 2 or 3 is forthcoming for Casboult, he will be let go.
Even though I can see Gibbs going this year, I wouldn't be planning for it just yet.
No young players will be traded. Not McKay, nor CCurnow.....not one.
From trublu (Talking Carlton) Not vouching for the validity of poster, but from memory had some good info previously.
This was always a possibility coming from the board, no matter for all the 'patience' that has been spoken about.
Even if true, it may get closed down through process, but given our history, our membership numbers, our lack of corporate sponsors, it's hard to dismiss.
