Worpel is this year's Will Brodie, perhaps? Premature tip for Nº1, then sliding...
I think he's a better talent than Brodie, but yeah he will slide a little if he doesn't show a touch more agility on the outside.

Much better kick than Brodie.

I'm working under the assumption that the following will be gone at the end of the year: Jones, White, Korcheck, Casboult, one of Gorringe & Phillips. One third tall defender from GWS would add a little support to that group aside from Rowe.

Nothing fancy, just whichever of Finlayson, Buntine, Himmelberg, Haynes, Corr or Mohr they will part with cheaply (and best suits us).

I know NEAFL form isn't much to write home about, but Sproule is lighting up the scoreboard, and it's their kids driving the midfield, not some senior blokes. Mohr, Simpson and Patton are the bookends, though.
I think White will be retained for another year, I guess it all depends on what SOS can do at the trade table but my gut feel is that White will get another year.

Yeah, but you could see that coming a mile away which is while I objected so much at the time. We weren't in a healthy mindset at the time and you could see that it would all be about Colonel Judd and his foot-soldiers. We were trying to supplement Judd the entire time he was at the club. In hindsight, if it was going to happen at all, we should have given up pick one and kept Kennedy.
If SOS was there at the time he would have traded pick 1 for 2 picks in the first round and drafted Rioli and shuey. Then got Judd for 3 and fev

Shuey wasn't in that draft. He was 2008.

Dangerfield went 10. Rioli 13 and I think Rance Harry Taylor and Callan Ward were in the top 20.

Macreadie I'm not too surprised as he was rated 10 top for a fair part of last year untill he dropped off the rader , Silvagni must have secreted him somewhere before he swooped.
Honestly a quality tall that we're desperately need , well done, we've not had a win with pick 47 for a very long time.
Williamson looks very good too , and pick 61 unbelievable , hopefully they both continue to do well, Polson I have't seen much but read good things too.
Go Baggers

SOS is a God.

We just need to acquire an extra pick or two under 30 for this year's draft; any ideas?

Gibbs? Think we blew the priority pick yesterday.;)

If draft is like last year is there an option to trade pick 1 or 2 for 2 picks inside pick 15? Maybe trade future picks for this year?

Can't see anything else

If somehow SOS can get us another 5-6 good draft picks, a FA, a good trade and a couple of rookies I will be ecstatic

Based on yesterdays game I can see that being the case. Can find it but no real penetration in his kicking and seems to be slow. Wasn't impressed ( much like I wasn't with Matheson) after the big wraps. Stands out like Brodie due to the hair but doesn't have the burst of speed

Only one game so I will be interested to see what he shows in future games.

Shit day to showcase skills and acceleration though

Or Shiel and Hopper. We use some of that $3 million that we have spare to offer them contracts they can't refuse.

We use a first this year (obtained trade from Adelaide via the Gibbs trade) and next year's first round draft picks to pay for them, plus we forward them whatever change Adelaide give us for Gibbs.

Let's assume Adelaide give us their first round pick this year and we swap our third round for their second. They get Bryce Gibbs.

We on trade Adelaide's first and second round picks this year and our first round pick next year.

We get one of (Kelly or Hopper) plus Shiel. We still have our own first round pick this year to use in the top 5, plus Ben Silvagni next year.

Talk over on the GWS page is that both Kelly and Shiel are set to re-sign. Devon Smith seems to be the vulnerable one of the out of contract players going by the talk there.

Can we objectively say our recruiting and development has improved? There's still that part of me that wouldn't be surprised if everything turned to shit somehow.

In any case, we have guys picked late in the draft coming in and looking comfortable at senior level. Can't say we've really had that at any time in our history and hopefully more of our draftees can come on.

Devon Smith is a gun but not sure he's the type we'd prioritise since he's more a small forward in the Pickett/Sumner/Polson mould.

I'm sure we'd love to have him, but we have bigger priorities in midfielders for now to use our trade assets on.

I think it's clear as day even at this early stage that our recruiting and developing has improved out of sight.
Our trading has also improved.

'Midfielder Matthew Kennedy was the major ball-winner with a game-high 36 touches and six tackles'

Kennedy had a big game for GWS in NEAFL and is one to keep an eye out for if he can't get a game at GWS, he should probably move for the sake of his career given Hopper is just ahead of him and there is also Setterfield coming up.

Unfortunately he might get games since Griffen, Whitfield and Coniglio are injured which could entice him to stay but really he can probably see he's not best 22 for GWS, but would be at almost any other team.
